Classic 90s Mariah Music Videos

Time to look at the music videos from the favorite artist by the retirement home at Pulse.

Was actually surprisingly easy to gather music videos for this poll, unlike previous ones. As per usual with my polls, I omitted any duets so no Endless Love and I also omitted any music videos of live performances or just studio recordings. Sadly this does mean a good chunk of Mariah's most popular songs have been omitted like Hero, I'll Be There, Without You, When You Believe, and biggest of all One Sweet Day. Tough luck but the purpose of these polls is to celebrate the art of the music video, and not just the music video as a visualizer.

Still we do have a good chunk of iconic visuals and it is interesting to see evolution of her visual style that happens: from simple dancing, costumes and staging to more complicated choreography and sexy outfits.

Mariah obviously went up another level (or two) with "Honey" and then a lot of her subsequent videos, but even if her earlier 1990s videos were simple, to me they always effectively captured the vibe of the song. The field, flannel, and cut offs in "Dreamlover" are iconic. The amusement park setting of "Fantasy" is iconic. The campfire setting of "Always Be My Baby" perfectly reflects the sing along nature of that song. The use of black and white for "Love Takes Time" and "Can't Let Go" suited those ballads.

With that being said, I voted for "Honey," "My All," and "Heartbreaker."
