Extremely shocked that this one made it this far. Even more shocked that my ranking was by far the lowest.

9. Hold the Line - Toto I squeezed this one in at the last minute. It's the best version of Toto I remember. The Power of the chorus with the inserted guitar strums. What a classic. BTW this one kinda takes the place of Kiss "I Was Made For Lovin' You" if we had gotten the chance to rank it. That would have made my perfect 1979 top 10.

8. The Logical Song - Supertramp Just as I knew "Highway To Hell" would miss the top 20 I also knew this one would make the top 10. I'll just go ahead and say that it's my favorite Supertramp jam, because it's the most edgy ,and melodic at the same time.

7. I Want You to Want Me (Live at Budokan) - Cheap Trick I have only ever heard this classic song in live mode on the radio, but I do have another version on one those old K-TEL 33 vinyls that featured top pop hits. I'm not sure if it has the studio version, but I didn't like it at all. It sounds like a saloon piano takes place of the guitars. Terrible vers. Anyway to see this song get the highest Cheap Trick vote yet.

6. What a Fool Believes - The Doobie Brothers And again we cross my favorite song from a band. This one has stood the test of time. Always loved that perfect Robbie Dupree/Rupert Holmes type pop vibe. The jumpy keys give a certain charm that sounds great with Michael McDonald's vocals.

1. Let's Go - The Cars Top 5 for my favorite song of all time. I'll take it. I've praised this song up and down the forum since I first joined. It's a perfect song from all angles. It has a buildup intro, that clapping effect, perfect coordination from all instruments. Ben's sultry like vocals deliver the perfect story about a teen who loves the nightlife. I always pictured the Cars were singing about the girl on the candy-O album cover. The biggest surprise was knowing this missed the top 100 for Billboard 1979. I mean I have heard this song everywhere for years. Up to now it follows me where ever I go. Rest easy guys. There will never be another song I could proudly call my favorite song of all time.

Sorry, guys. This may have been the #1 if I wasn't involved here. That "sending out an SOS" ending OVER and OVER again gets on my nerves. But I still prefer it over Every Breath You Take.

4. Message in a Bottle - The Police hey dude with the #99 we were not ranking that techno travesty version of the song. Anyway great song. I didn't really know of until early 90's. Complied my 1979 charts in the 90's(I needed something to do while I was mourning 80's Metal) and discovered this gem.

Sultans and Heart will go head to head for #1. It all comes down to which songs had the most #1's. Dire Straits will have quite a few, but Metal heads love disco too. I'm guessing having more top 5's will be stronger that the #1's group.
