Don't feel too bad for Traitor, it got a week in the top 10, it's been the top 40 for some time now, it already clinched its YE spot and it's top 10 on pop airplay so it's doing solid but not as good as the first three singles.

Don't feel too bad for Traitor, it got a week in the top 10, it's been the top 40 for some time now, it already clinched its YE spot and it's top 10 on pop airplay so it's doing solid but not as good as the first three singles. 

I ain't losing any sleep over it, it's already an undeniable hit... but it could get to the level of "deja vu" at least, with just a little push. Feels like they're leaving streaming money on the table (and unlike her last two hits she's not sharing songwriting royalties here).

"Fancy Like" might reach #2, but I don't think it can take the #1 from "Stay".

I find it funny people are happy Twice is entering hot100 by using the same tactics BTS did but are mad at BTS when they release remixes to get their #1.

Anyway I'm guessing more kpop groups will use these tactics to chart on hot100 from now, groups like NCT, TXT or MonstaX have the US fanbase for website sales.

The "tactics" only work if there is a fanbase out there to support it. 


Over time - employing marketing gimmicks to push songs has been done in many different methods.


Basically - if you put it out there, there still has to be interest in buying into it - clearly there is in the case of the kpop acts like BTS

It's one thing when it's a K-pop group that's never charted before notching a single there for a week and then disappearing. Nobody besides chart nerds will remember it past the week it debuted, and maybe TWICE will get to the point of being inescapable someday, but that's not their stans' main priority right now. BTS with all their remixes, alternate single covers, ARMY's mass-buying tactics, etc. is doing what they do specifically so that they can achieve concrete goals with regards to charting high on the Hot 100 and, more importantly (at least since Dynamite came out), sticking around.

I'm not saying it's necessarily wrong (that's Billboard choice to deal with), but I completely understand why people are more likely to despise BTS' chart strategies than TWICE's.
