I love En Vogue but don't like this song. It is way too overplayed.

The Top 5: Rhythm Nation - Janet Jackson Escapade - Janet Jackson Poison - Bell Biv DeVoe Vision Of Love - Mariah Carey I'm Your Baby Tonight - Whitney Houston The last five rankdowns in this series have been won by a Jackson...will Janet make it six? Will Whitney claim her second victory in this series? Will newcomer Mariah power her way to the top? Or will Bell Biv DeVoe shock everyone? There's also a final last place ranking still out there, where will it end up? Find out when the Billboard #1 R&B Songs Of 1990 Rankdown concludes tomorrow!

I'm guessing the last place ranking was an effort to tank someone, which I am understanding more and more as these things go on.

All great songs. I do think this is not Whitney's strongest but it definitely was a good move for her.
One of the Janet songs is WAY better than the other, IMO.
POISON is and will always be a jam.

2ndly, I love Wilson Philips...but they literally have 4 songs that are hits (Release Me, and You're In Love are my favorite by them)...but in no world are they better than En Vogue when En Vogue has songs like Hold On, Don't Go, You Don't Have To Worry, Never Gonna Get, Free Your Mind, Don't Let Go, Runaway Love, Whatever, Giving Him Something He Can Feel, Lies
Like I said, Wilson Philips they have 2 good songs but they don't compete or come close to En Vogue...

Not Wilson Phillips. lol.
Thank God Nippy is in the Top 5!
I prefer “BBD” to “Poison”, even though the latter is a classic.

Today's extra was the first charted single by this group from Belgium. It topped the charts in Belgium and 4 other countries, hitting the Top 10 in many more. Stateside, it topped the dance chart and peaked at #10 on the R&B chart and #2 on the Hot 100. Features vocals by Ya Kid K, however when the song was initially released those vocals were credited to Congolese model Felly Kilingi, who also appeared in the music video. It wasn't until the success of "Move This" in 1992 that Ya Kid K was finally given credit, and the album was reissued featuring her instead of Felly.

Hope Poison and Rhythm Nation grab the top two spots! Poison is that song that I never get tired of. Rhythm Nation video is sooo iconic, one of the most influential, and the song still resonates on what's been going on today.
I actually love Thieves In The Temple. It's such a bop.

I understand the purpose of the militant aspect of "Rhythm Nation," but it doesn't sound pleasing to me (especially on the chorus). It's actually my least favorite single from RN1814.
