My unpopular opinion is, by going off of the Billboard hot 100 year end lists, 2011 is the best year of the 2010's 2011 is a close second place to 2012 IMO.

As I really haven't followed HITS' reported streaming chart, are those weekly audio-stream numbers generally accurate?

This mf be like: numbers don't lie.. The heavy majority of unvaccinated in hospitalizations compared to vaccinated people? Yes those numbers surely do not lie!

Portugal literally has 98% of all eligible 12+ vaccinated and STILL the hospitalizations are made of mostly unvaccinated people⦠those 2% are making more than 50% in hospitals so
Enough of this convo, go spew fake nonsense on another site

In-thread warning to get this thread back on track please. This has nothing to do with this weekβs chart discussion. Thanks in advance x

Kind of wild with segues into the best year of music, vaccines, and Taylor Swift's biggest hit in half a decade with her fan favorite song going number one, this is still only at 19 pages. Pulse really relied on those BTS fights to hit our record page counts this summer and last lol

these last few weeks have been so interesting. adele, bruno & taylor returning to the top together after a decade, taylor having a legit smash hit at #1 with a nearly 10 year old song, elton john getting a top 20 hit with the help of dua lipa, the random explosion in popularity of a song by an unknown edm group featuring a b-list rapper and a popularity-wise indie pop singer.
i'm very excited to see what 2022 has to offer because i can only imagine things getting even weirder and i love it

(Blurred Lines, Get Lucky, Treasure, etc). 2013 hands down the best year of the 2010s tbh.

I find the years discussion a bit uninteresting because every year has gems and every year has s**t music.
Also music fans usually have this mentality of older music being so good and the current market being full of s**t. Give it a decade, Britney was called manufactured s**t back in the day but everyone jams to Toxic and BOMT now.
Unless it's Bieber. That's always gonna be manufactured crap :kii:

That doesn't mean it's bad (I'd give it a 6/10), but people lose their s**t over that song and I don't get why.

To be completely honest, Toxic is a good song, I just think it would be a lot better if someone other than Britney were singing it. I never thought it suited her voice well.

I mean, a good deal of the vocals are from Cathy Dennis anyway.

Throwing in my opinion on the best weekly top 10s--in all my searching, I've come to the conclusion that September-October of 1966 were probably the two highest quality months for the Hot 100 top 10, and I'm having a hard time choosing between two particular weeks, so I'll offer them both
September 24, 1966
01 04 Cherish - The Association (1st of 3 weeks at #1) 02 01 You Can't Hurry Love - The Supremes 03 03 Sunshine Superman - Donovan 04 02 Yellow Submarine - The Beatles 05 05 Bus Stop - The Hollies 06 11 Beauty Is Only Skin Deep - The Temptations 07 18 Black Is Black - Los Bravos 08 25 96 Tears - ? & The Mysterians 09 08 Wouldn't It Be Nice - The Beach Boys 10 26 Reach Out I'll Be There - The Four Tops
This week has 3 of my all-time favorite songs in YCHL, WIBN, and ROIBT; arguably the career highlights of Donovan and The Hollies; and 2 iconic garage rock singles in BIB and 96T. And the other 3 songs are still pretty good.
October 15, 1966
01 02 Reach Out I'll Be There - The Four Tops (1st of 2 weeks at #1) 02 01 Cherish - The Association 03 03 96 Tears - ? & The Mysterians 04 06 Last Train To Clarksville - The Monkees 05 09 Psychotic Reaction - Count Five 06 07 Cherry, Cherry - Neil Diamond 07 14 Walk Away Renee - The Left Banke 08 11 What Becomes Of The Brokenhearted - Jimmy Ruffin 09 10 I've Got You Under My Skin - The Four Seasons 10 08 You Can't Hurry Love - The Supremes
This week has 4 of the same songs. In terms of the tradeoffs: I love PR only a little bit less than WIBN, CC was Neil Diamond's debut single and one of his best, my favorite Monkees song is here, as well as classic psych-pop and soul tracks from The Left Banke and Jimmy Ruffin. IGYUMS is worse than anything in September 24, but it's still fine.

I love the music from 1966 besides that Green Beret song.
Anyways, 2018 was the worst year for the charts in recent memory.

I kno there's VERY mixed opinions on hyperpop. I for one hope it makes it mainstream in 2022!

Taylor had the two top songs for music videos for the US weekly chart. Combination all versions of All Too Well, include the SNL performance, it got more than three times the views of the official one for I Bet You Think You About Me.

Thank goodness Silk Sonic have a real chance of getting some of their songs onto the Hot 100 even if they're going to place low. I was real worried that Taylor would confine them to the Bubbling Under.
And of course, another year, another early return for AIWFCIY to shoot for an unprecedented third straight YE appearance.

Wow, if both versions of all too well are combined, is it possible for a #1 debut? Considering the massive streaming numbers that would result from a combination (both songs are the #1 and #3 performing songs of the album thus far). Obviously super early but wouldn't that just be the best 'in your face' to the men who taunt her masters over her? No. They'll have practically 0 airplay, and won't sell more than around 10K. They would need over 40 million streams combined. Probably frontloaded throughout the week like Love Story (TV) but top 10 is definitely possible this time. #1 on Apple Music was relatively very weak and barely pulling 1 million streams daily before today, so despite the fact it has 2 versions top 5 it's probably 'only' doing around 2 million streams first day on Apple. #5-#15 debut based on how well it holds up if I had to guess right now. I guess you're pretty surprised at this point that it is in fact debuting at #1 lmao. An it's very comfortably getting that #1, by at least a 100-point margin. And those first day numbers are FAR above love story TV was so that comparison isn't rly fair

None of us can perfectly predict a week ahead. Weβre human! All Too Wellβs first week performance surprised literally everyone. Running back to find posts is pointless.
