In a good or bad way? Personally I found the pop music at that time was at its absolute weakest, so many of the songs sounded the same and were lacking in creativity, and at the time I was a bit worried that it was going to be like that for the rest of my life. For example Lady Gaga released 10 dance-pop singles in a row during that time, because that was a way for easy guaranteed hits, which is simply unacceptable for a pop star, especially one that tries to market themselves as unique and creative. Luckily Adele came along and turned that all upside down!

Can I just say I’m blown away by ATW performance. I knew Red #1 was locked (brand new albums are hardly selling over 100k right now and Taylor’s fan base is at least 200k guaranteed sales at this point). Whatever she releases from here on out should be locked unless there’s a random surprise release from Drake/Adele/Rihanna/Adele/BTS.

ATW was a “moment” Taylor hasn’t had since LWYMMD I’d say. Me! had attention but it was overshadowed by LNX and her release strategy. And the fact that it hit #2 was just icing on the cake. Her entire release strategy for this was insane and just made for an event that resonated with fans and the general public. I wish they would have sent this to radio to prolong this moment, but I’m so happy that it got one in the first place. Would have been nice for Love Story to hit similarly but I’ll take what I can get

Really wondering if she’ll replicate this strategy for Sparks Fly now that it’s gained so much traction. High profile performance, music video, and remixes may do the trick for it.

Also, I need a high profile collab for 1989. Give me a Bad Blood Remix with Katy Perry and the sequel to the MV from where it left off with Selena and her grabbing each other by the hair. That would be… epic.
