I don’t understand why everyone expects every new album from a big artist to break records, the numbers are still pretty good for someone that hasn’t dropped anything since 2015. 21 and 25 had many years apart as well but 'hello' was huge and the '25 era' overall was massive . Yeah, I’m very aware of 21 and 25’s success.

I don't think you can really compare though. 21 literally dominated for 2 years and the gap between the end of the area and 25 was only a few years. So there was insane hype. 25 did most of its domination in a 6 week period and then got a boost when she swept the Grammy's. "Hello" was the only massive single from 25 whereas 21 had three. Plus the gap being longer between 25 and 30 likely lead to less hype. In saying that "Easy On Me" still broke a number of streaming records. Plus to be fair the first day spotify numbers are really good. Especially considering the type of album it is and that this is the first one she's released properly in the streaming era.

Adele's Spotify numbers are incredibly disappointing no matter how you slice it. Anyone who says they didn't expect 30 to become a top 10 biggest album debut of all time on Spotify is lying. In fact, it's not even top 15. Exactly. Given “Easy On Me’s” debut, I was expecting first day numbers in conjunction with “Folklore” or higher. (“RED” is an anomaly given the amount of tracks so 90M+ would’ve been difficult). This is just outright underwhelming. That said... This makes me curious as to what Rihanna’s first day numbers will be like? She could easily debut with the highest numbers for a female overall, and actually be more in line with Drake’s total but I presume thats dependent on how many tracks #R9 has and whether or not it’ll be a surprise release or standard release following a lead single. 🧐

Obviously those numbers are fine but I find it mildly amusing how everyone only tapers their expectations when the numbers are already out. I don't recall anyone saying she would do millions less than Sour a month ago, let alone millions less than B-list artists like Kid Cudi and Tyler the Creator.

Something to consider is that Adele doesn't have a dedicated fanbase that will immediately rush to stream the album and thus inflate the first day. Which is the reason why even though Taylor have the record first days, record first week among female artists is still held by Ariana with thank u, next. Adele will probably hold very well throughout the week. Huh? 25/Hello broke first day sales records around the world and so did EOM on Spotify The numbers are great, just not Adele great

Even “When We Were Young” sold more and gets far more recurrent streams despite a lower chart peak.

This. I think people need to ignore sales/peaks when discussing the singles from 25 post-Hello. The massive sales offset the lower positions. Send My Love and When We Were Young are by all means smash hits with great longevity. They are literally nearing a billion streams on Spotify

21 and 25 didn't have that many years apart, if you consider how long 21 ran. And 21 was... 21.
A lot has changed since 25. Yes, I expected more streams, but I also don't expect 21 or 25 this time around considering that sales are definitely not the same and this Adele's first album on streaming right out of the gate. Her days of going Diamond is probably over. Same applies to Taylor Swift. But how can you complain about having two Diamond albums? "Easy On Me" is a huge hit, and if they push "Oh My God" as the second single, it could do well enough.

It’s a good album ?? What are ya’ll talkin about??? good album? The side effects of the vaccine are starting to show up! This post from 16 hours ago says hi. And in the interest of staying on topic, Adele will of course dominate, but it will be interesting to see just how much she will. It looks like she will have a pretty significant album bomb. I haven't fully digested the album yet but Cry Your Heart Out, Oh My God, and Can I Get It SLAP.

They are literally nearing a billion streams on Spotify 21 was near 9 million sales when "Set Fire To The Rain" went to #1, which makes it even more impressive. I'm not denying it as being a hit, but it wasn't of the calibre of "Set Fire To The Rain". The 1-2-3 punch of RITD/SLY/SFTTR was absolutely massive and very few albums have had their first 3 singles be that big whilst shifting huge numbers of albums. Regarding "When We Were Young" - it was a hit, but by no means a smash hit. It's had really great longevity on streaming services though and is generally seen as one of her best/most loved songs by fans.

I think streaming proves that overall WWWY is the second 25 track that comes to people's mind now instead of SML. Justice for WUTB tho, so underrated.

EOM has dethroned STAY on kWorb radio! 1 (+1) Adele - Easy On Me 105.77 (+7.34) 2 (-1) The Kid LAROI & Justin Bieber - STAY 104.27 (-0.37) Debuted on country radio with ~5.5mil AI. Granted it was an hourly deal on iHeart radio stations. It should comfortably be #1 at the end of the tracking week. I think "Easy On Me" might stick around at the top for a while. Definitely until the end of the year and in the new year it'll get a boost from AC stations switching back to new music which'll give it a 15-20 mil AI boost.

^ You're overestimating the AI share of AC radio post-recalibration. I haven't seen what the All Stations panel for AC looks like to tell you what AI a typical #1 would have outside of holiday airplay but I can't imagine the rebound bringing in more than 10 mill. AI at absolute most.

I think EOM will more or less stay stable on radio until late January at least. They are not really pushing a second single ASAP and Country might help soften the AC slowdown and the eventual Pop drops once it goes #1 there.

These numbers are good. But let's not pretend we didn't expect more please.
In general, 2.8 million is a STRONG debut but for an artist whose tv concert brought in 12 million viewers, I had higher expectations ngl.
We'll see how strong it stays through the week

Fine Spotify numbers, and honestly not far from what I personally expected after the similarly fine opening numbers for EOM (in the US). Her power was always going to be physicals, let's see if HDD gives an update later today.
