Well it should be her second song in the top quarter of the chart as the first credited artist.

Love Galore and The Weeknd peaked at 32 and 29 on the Hot 100 respectively and while they charted for 20 and 25 weeks respectively as well, they spent a bulk of those weeks in the lower half of the Hot 100, so no, I wouldn't count them as "chart hits." I don't know why the units they've moved in the US is being mentioned like I'm not aware and like we aren't in the streaming era and there aren't songs that never charted on the Hot 100 but are certified RIAA multiplatinum today. That doesn't make them chart hits. I never said they were flops. All I said was that Better Days and I Hate U are her first set of legitimate chart hits as a lead artist. I probably should have said "bonafide" instead but it's whatever.

I'm sure there's a Pulse bingo thing for the comparison between hits by chart position and those which move units and remain popular on streaming and personal listening long after they chart.

singingrulebritannia and? It wasn't a chart hit. Both of those songs were released in 2017. Love Galore peaked in 2017 and The Weekend peaked in 2018 but 2017/2018 were such massive years on the Hot 100 with several monster hits, I don't know how anyone is reaching to call songs that didn't even reach the top 25 chart hits. I'd understand if they spent like 30+ weeks on the Hot 100 and eventually reached the top 20 at least but they didn't do that either. Of course, none of that takes away from their success on streaming over time but on the HOT 100, no, they weren't chart hits (to me). You can see them as chart hits (and then let's count every single song that's ever reached the top 40 but not the top 20 a chart hit as well) but I won't. I personally don't see them as that and that's okay. I respect your opinion but this was never meant to be some back and forth debate and I don't want to derail the thread even more than I already have.

What does the streaming era have to do with anything either? The majority of the songs that hit the top ten nowadays are not reaching 5x platinum

Considerable time away? He did not release music for a year. SZA is dominating with her new releases, and she went three years + without putting out a new song as the lead artist. She does not get even a fraction of the play listing or airplay that he receives either. His song with The Weeknd got a huge push, but it is still not hitting. They are most surely worrying about that. I believe that he has just become the next Katy Perry. There are just a new batch of people (Jack Harlow, Laroi) who are filling the void that originally made him popular, and he is not attracting those same people because he has become way too cheesy to them You can't compare Post Malone to SZA. SZA has 1 album to her name. Post Malone has 3 albums that are each bigger than SZA's album, not to talk of singles/album tracks, of which he has multiple bigger than anything SZA has ever dropped. Good Days and I Hate U were both fan favorites before they dropped. Sure, the GP connected with them after their release, but them being songs fans spent months demanding she drop helped with their solid start on streaming. She also has that "Shirt" song she teased at the end of the Good Days video. That's another song that'll do well on streaming if it ever gets released because it's already gone viral and fans have been asking for it. Hit Different was her proper comeback single and that didn't do anything chart-wise, meanwhile, the fan-favorite songs have. That tells you all you need to know. With that being said, I'm not gonna place SZA above Post Malone because she's just now scoring her second legitimate chart hit as a lead artist. I'm also not gonna write Post Malone off as over or call him the new Katy Perry because the first two singles from his forthcoming album era haven't performed like his singles usually do. Both songs are some of his worst singles and I can't say his fans/the GP won't connect with something off his next album. I'll have to wait and see how the era goes following the release of his album to reach any conclusions. Which is exactly why his new singles oughta be performing better than SZA's, no?

ontopofthis News flash: every single an artist drops won't be a smash hit, even if they're tried and tested hitmakers. Some songs simply won't connect to fans and the GP as much as others. It happens. I can't believe I have to spell this out. Post Malone's songs have seen much greater heights of success than SZA's songs and he's been a lot more successful and dominant on streaming than she has over more albums. He doesn't have anything left to prove to anyone in that regard. SZA only has 1 album out and a massive fanbase that hasn't been fed with much music over the last 4 years. Them going hard in support of the two songs she's dropped this year (which are songs they've loved for months and have been asking her to drop for just as long) is the least they can do as they wait in anticipation of her next album. My point is that it's silly to count Post Malone out after 2 singles which didn't flop but underperformed for his standards. That man has over a dozen bonafide hit records to his name. He's a hitmaker. He'll find a way. Y'all have counted out artists like Justin Bieber and the Weeknd at similar points when certain singles didn't perform as well as expected but they always turned it around eventually. I think he'll be okay but he'll just have to come with something fresher and less generic than many of his past hits have been. I agree that he has probably peaked commercially and I don't think his next album era will be as massive as his last 3 album eras but he'll be fine. I just don't understand how you jumped to calling him Katy Perry because of 2 duds and then praising SZA like she's this dominant hitmaker in comparison.

Interesting: βExtra Festive,β which reached Top 20 iTunes, flipped to Album Only ... no more divided sales for AIWFCIY. MC wants that #1. No other reason to make the switch.

It would be so funny if Blinding Lights actually re-entered the Hot 100 after the holiday season, and Levitating did not:

Lol not that sales are making any real difference on the Hot 100 outside of BTS or something. Plus I think that 'EF' version was only selling because it was part of the .69 holiday promo, which the regular version is not part of. I don't think people will suddenly move to the regular "AIWFCIY."

Christmas Songs outside the Top 10 Am I just blind, or are none of the songs from Kelly Clarkson's new holiday album charting (not even the Ariana duet)?!

^No, you aren't. The only song from it in the Holiday 100 is Christmas Isn't Canceled (Just You). The album itself is #2 at iTunes, #69 at Apple Music and wasn't in Spotify's US top 200 albums last week.

Christmas Songs outside the Top 10 Am I just blind, or are none of the songs from Kelly Clarkson's new holiday album charting (not even the Ariana duet)?! Not sure why you're that surprised: new Christmas releases aren't streaming magnets the year they're released. Carrie Underwood's Christmas album last year didn't have much traction despite it selling well, neither have the slew of Christmas albums that've been released the past few weeks. The Jennifer x Mariah x Ariana Christmas collab from last year took DAYS after release to chart and it didn't even chart in the Top 100, it was always in the bottom half, and that song was actually being promoted heavily and hyped up on social media.
