I already made my opinion on ABCDEFU in the Unpopular Opinion thread but I'd much rather see Heat Waves become a number 1 over the Hot Girl Bummer ripoff.

Didn't Weeknd release a video for Die For You on Starboy's 5th anniverary last month too? Obviously he's just celebrating rather than trying to make old material take off. It's nice and more artists should try to acknowledge their past releases in a similar manner. Itβs insane how people overlook this. 2021 is arguably his most successful year of his career (of all time maybe), and itβs only even more amplified by his superbowl performance as well. On top of that, it just so happens to be the 5 and 10 year anniversary of Starboy and the Trilogy mixtapes respectfully and those 2 projects hold the most significance in his entire career so celebrating them is definitely deserved and appreciated. Although heβs appearing on everything right now and the burnout may be catching up to him, iβd say heβs already hit his peak this year so thereβs really nothing left for him to prove in terms of chart performance or relevance. |

That's fair enough, it's good that he wants to honor his early projects with a bit of attention, but yes, in general I think the burnout is definitely strong with him.

I'm hoping Adele can get at least 3 if not more weeks at #1 with "Easy On Me". It should increase in streams/sales a bit post-Christmas and get a very big airplay boost from AC switching back to normal songs. The closest non-Christmas song to it in points is "Stay" which I think is 80-100 points away.
The biggest threat to "Easy On Me" is "abcdefu" but that's still just over half the points of "Easy On Me". Although it'll likely increase in points quite a lot post-Christmas.
If "Easy On Me" manages 11 weeks at #1, Adele will claim the #10 spot outright for artists with most cumulative weeks at #1 with 35 weeks (As opposed to tying Elton John/Bruno mars with 34). "Easy On Me" needs 13 weeks at #1 for Adele to tie Michael Jackson in 9th place at 37 weeks.

^Happier than Ever and You Should Probably Leave haven't peaked at radio yet. Sand in My Boots could have already peaked, but still would have a weekly gain and Woman is just getting started there. Cold as You is the assured dropout. You Right and Kiss Me More could survive if not enough holiday songs re-enter or debut in the top 50.

Rule of mine: original Christmas songs released this year will be part of the non-Christmas songs tracking. If either this or the new Kelly x Ariana track re-enter next year, I'll see that as them being now part of the Holiday tradition and will include them with past Christmas songs. |
