jeng- I'd think they did count, as I don't think the track's iTunes showing translated to 41,000 sold for that week. (Unless I missed it hitting the top and maintaining a big lead for days). It was just one BTS member on the track, so it may not have been had the push of a track featuring all members.

So will Christams Tree by V be the only Christmas song on the chart? If it has enough sales points to debut on the Hot 100.

^Certainly not. Last season, several holiday tracks remained on the chart with just one mega day of streaming (AIWFCIY at No. 9). This year included Christmas Eve for this tracking period, so they should fare even better

That's very interesting to see that three days of streaming and a couple of days of airplay would be enough for a top 2 this week.

I feel like Disney didn't expect We Don't Talk About Bruno to be the big hit from Encanto lol. It doesn't even have a full music video on YouTube yet, tho that should change pretty quickly

If Easy On Me, Stay, and AIWFCIY is the Top 3, wouldn’t that be the first time entire Top 3 was filled with songs with at least 7 weeks at #1?

So, I posted this over 2 months ago... HDD released their Top 50 YTD Song Streams list and I was pretty spot on. Although it barely missed the 430M mark on HDD's list, it probably surpassed it on MRC Data's list (we'll know for sure if they ever get around to publishing 2021 Year-End stats). On October 24, Wants and Needs was #28 on US Apple Music. Today, December 28, it's #24. I can only wonder how much bigger it would have been if it was ever pushed as a single. Oh well.

Is this the final YTD Stream list for 2021 cuz I noticed it does not include all the weeks of December on the list

My mind is still absolutely blown by the success of Levitating, crazy that the two biggest hits of the year (Levitating & Save Your Tears) were late singles from albums released way earlier. I'm used to singles dying out quickly following the release of an album so to see the continued success of Future Nostalgia and After Hours, it gives me hope we'll see longer album cycles like we had a decade+ ago.

Well, it helps if you add a #1 hit artist to your song for a remix for the cash.

What’s even crazier is that they had huge singles that were in the top 5 of the 2020 YE, including one song in particular that was the #1 song of that year and repeated at #3 for 2021. To see them both repeat the process and get another big smash hit was the mind blown part. I would definitely say while 2020 was the year these singles came from, 2021 was the real biggest year for both.

Remixes don't always work, though sometimes they work very well (let us pause to reflect on SpottemGottem).

Jokes aside, I've always wondered why Taylor never hops on remixes (the HAIM one doesn't count!). I guess she maybe thinks she's above it and/or doesn't need to, but for someone who cares as much about charts/achievements as her you'd think she'd be game for some easy #1's.

I mean, has she even been asked to be on remixes for hit songs? Majority of recent Pop hits with remixes would not fit her whatsoever (34+35, Say So, Savage Love, Save Your Tears, etc). There are also very few current Pop artists I could see her blending together on a collab with naturally — and they’re already her friends (Shawn, Ed, and Selena come to mind). Meaning if they had expressed interest in wanting her on a song they probably would’ve already had it come to fruition which just draws back to my original sentence.

(for the track "The Joker and the Queen") I think part of it is just Taylor Swift's current genre—not many easy number-ones to earn doing folk pop. and it's not like she hasn't tried remixes at all before—we all remember the Shawn Mendes remix of "Lover" right? I don't think that helped her that much.

Taylor has been using remixes her entire career. She sent Pop mixes of “Teardrops on My Guitar” and “Our Song” to Top 40 in 2007.

Didn't know they did it that early, I mostly just look at the on demand streaming numbers that old bloke gives out weekly.

But how many people ask Taylor to hop on their songs in remixes?

But what’s ironic is that both album campaigns had plenty of missed singles, re-releases, remixes, etc. It’s still in the boat of “you can’t get more than 2-3 smashes off one album during the streaming era.” It’s either the 2 smashes are front loaded like Ariana/Drake, or the 2 smashes are book ended, with one being at the beginning and the other being at the end.

Most of the 2010s big eras "only" had 2-3 smash songs (ANTI, 21, Prism, Red, Recovery, Divide, Scorpion, Purpose, Doo-Wops & Hooligans, Thank U Next, Bangerz, Beauty Behind The Madness...). We shouldn't compare eras to Teenage Dream, 1989 or The Fame.

I feel like Disney didn't expect We Don't Talk About Bruno to be the big hit from Encanto lol. It doesn't even have a full music video on YouTube yet, tho that should change pretty quickly Dos Oroguitas is the main push, the one with a second version in the credits and submitted to the Oscars then next priority is likely Surface Pressure. It is unexpected that it became the signature song of the movie but for me it is the most memorable song and sequence of the movie. It is sort of their "Under The Sea", not the main emotional anthem but the fun scene-stealing showstopper

This isn't the first time this has happened. Does anyone remember when High School Musical came out (the original) and Disney had prepared a big single push for the B2K version of "Get Your Head In The Game" and *every other song* on the album charted.
