Getting several perfect ranks in one round does not make up for Machine Gun Kelly's MAGNUM OPUS leaving in the 70s

Got my hopes up with how well "Bloody Valentine" did last year that MGK would end up with his songs higher than this. I love his music so much. I hope "My Ex's Best Friend" can at least last closer to the middle of the RD.

85. grandson - Dirty
Truthfully all these new singers couldn't sing their way out of a plastic bag. They all sound like they think they are the S H IT. That being said the music itself sounds pretty catchy and I dig catchy music. Particularly the guitars in the chorus. Give this to Jonas Brothers or Backstreet Boys , get rid of the unGODly sound effix accompanying the brass section, and I would have shot it up my list even higher.

84.Remi Wolf - Hello Hello Hello
#deletetheTICTOKapp. sounds like lazy tropical chick music. Those tones are bad with a capital B.

83. Machine Gun Kelly - papercuts
This song here sounds like a poor man's Nirvana. It doesn't help that this guy's vocals are really horrid. An aspect I must have completely overlooked in the video staring Megan Fox. The lyrics are garbage, but the music doesn't toot my horn either. I gave it a slight nudge up my chart for the use of actual instruments.

82. Tai Verdes - Stuck in the Middle
Music was passable. I must not really care about lyrics if you all tanking these masterpieces lower than me.

#deletetheTICTOKapp. I'm guessing it's Tictok based on her name , but her vocals actually sound like they could have range if she were to rock out. That being said this is just another song that sounded slightly better than me than the travesties below it.

80. LILHUDDY - The Eulogy of You and Me
Could have a Simple Plan or Good Charlotte song. The music was rad and catchy. I stick by my Top 30 rank. I also remember the lot of you tanking songs by Good Charlotte and Simple Plan some years back so we all just being consistent here.

79. WALK THE MOON - Can You Handle My Love??
This band lost so much of that dynamic aspect of their music. It isn't terrible it just kinda goes by without leaving anything behind but a bunch of indiepoop fumes.

78. Mike Shinoda f/ iann dior & UPSAHL - Happy Endings
Finally. I would like to thank everyone who slotted this travesty under #90. To me this was unlistenable. The rapping, the hi-hats and whatever other unGodly sounds this song was riding on. In short. That first line about the S H I T show? I thought it was referring to the song itself. 

77. MOD SUN f/ Avril Lavigne - Flames
Another one of those bi-polar songs the guy parts totally wrecks. Avril's parts are not too bad at all. Is this the guy she is dating? Her duet with Chad Kroeger was eons better than this.

76. Weathers - C'est La Vie
I really didn't find anything wrong with this song. I just couldn't slot it any higher. I like that he refers to Euphoria and Hysteria as female. The guitars kick in pretty nice towards the end and give the song a fiercer vibe.

75. Grouplove - Deadline
The music was HOTT and this could have turned out as one pretty decent 80's retro vibe jam. Proper percussion and guitars, but then "jon" Grouplove opened up his moth and all went to S H I T.

I swear I can't tell the artist names from the song titles anymore. I'll probably clear my 60's - 70's before my bottom ten. Anyway I upgraded this for the parts that sound like Simple Plan.

I'm kinda over this song. I liked this better when I thought it was a chick singing. 'nuff said.

72. Two Feet - Think I'm Crazy
I don't think I ever ranked a song by this band this high? Not that I recall any prior song to this one from them, but this one was kinda in the catchy song realm.

80. The Eulogy of You and Me - Disposable indeed, and if the current chart is any indication, I'm glad we're starting to move on from this brief pop punk resurgence. (with the exception of Monsters continuing to linger (smh), the newer stuff isn't sky-rocketting, and both jxdn and nothing,nowhere. flopped with their latest singles)

72. Think I'm Crazy - I liked this a bit more when it came out, and it's nice to finally see him not repeat IFLID. Now, not so much.
71. Missing Piece - As someone who doesn't like Vance Joy that much, this was honestly nice. I also like the bridge.

Extras:
Hardcore Happy and Inferno both blow.
Alive and Venus Fly Trap are both good.
Somebody is also better than most of the pop punk stuff here.
And So It Went I thought was alright at first, but it grew on me eventually, same for the follow-up. Killer guitar solo by Morello and Taylor sounds good.

I'm with you here, it reminded me of Beastie Boys in a way. It's a silly song that (maybe) shouldn't have charted on alt, but it's not a bad listen imo.

As it gets closer to the midway point of the Rankdown, the closeness to the ones that were high end up getting lower a bit due to the furthest position you can be away from songs lowers, once you get to top 20 or top 10 if you still have ranks below 50 or even bottom 20, it could go up higher again.

Better than anything he's ever done before. This is not saying much. This has a decent melody and vibe to it but many better songs came out in 2021 and drove it down the list.

I like the instruments and mixing, but god does MGK sound awful here and the lyrics read like a fourth grader writing his first song after listening to In Utero. I wanted to like this one more, but no thanks.

Bleh. It was passable I guess.

Another one that I just can't stand. It just meanders around being annoying for two minutes and has the insufferable TikTok Zoomer vocal on top.

Fun, but rather generic and the chorus desperately needed more than the song title being repeated ad nauseum. 


79. WALK THE MOON - Can You Handle My Love??
I was high on this when it first launched but it gradually got worse over time. I blame K.Flay (the co-writer) for this. 


78. Mike Shinoda f/ iann dior & UPSAHL - Happy Endings
You guys all suck. Seriously, though, I like this one, even with the hi-hats and all that, and it was great to hear Mike again, still bringing it, and his collaborators did well too. 

77. MOD SUN f/ Avril Lavigne - Flames
Pretty decent, and MOD SUN can sing better than MGK so that's another plus. Avril added a nice, sweet accompaniment to MOD SUN's deep tones. It's generic but livelier and more memorable than the LILHUDDY song mentioned above. 


76. Weathers - C'est La Vie
Passable, I guess. 


75. Grouplove - Deadline
This may be the song that killed Grouplove's career. This is just bad, man. Start to finish.

I like the chorus a lot, but the verses were limp and his voice just could not carry them. "Pieces of You", which won't make the 2022 rankdown, was way better. 


73. Machine Gun Kelly f/ Kellin Quinn - love race
I liked this one somewhat, sue me. It's just great fun, even if MGK's mediocre lyricism drags it down a bit.

At least it wasn't "I Think I'm Drowning" 2.0. 


71. Vance Joy - Missing Piece
This one was... alright. I enjoyed it throughout its run but it never made it into the top echelon of songs for me. Vance makes good filler music for playlists, but he's never been able to generate those "wow" tracks that make him a must-listen for me.

With the exceptions of "Somebody", "ALIVE", and "And So It Went", they all suck. The three I listed all have redeeming value to varying extents and I recommend them.
