Ok I do want to take a quick moment though to mention how much I love Kyoto. Like it took a bit for it to grow on me, but now it's one of my all time favorites. I think it just really struck me on an emotional level and has stuck with me for a long time now. The horns, the lyrics, just the overall vibe, the song just feels perfect in every way and like I just find it very comforting to listen to. As much I'm upset it didn't win, I am just happy it got this far, and I'm especially happy to have heard this song as it truly is so special to me.

wasn't able to send this year but this would have been my #1 if I did - one of my favorite parts of the song is how it pulls back from fully launching into the second chorus but keeps the "ghoooooost" buried quietly in the background to throw you off as the intensity ramps up - Andy Hull's voice soars over the drums and the instrumental changeup at the end caps off what ended up being my top new song of last year. Feel like these guys should be bigger than they are but at least they can get the love they deserve here.

This was not the year I was expecting this to be "their time" for Manchester Orchestra, but holy crap, am I glad it is. This song means the world to me, and even though it isn't my favorite song of last year, it's definitely the one that meant the most to me throughout 2021. Wow, wow, wow.
