Do we live in a world where BL is about to have a third chart run to go over 90 weeks?

Too evolved to fit in with 2010/2011, and by 2013 the music landscape was already different

The more I think about this, I think Levitating, SYT, and BL will either all be in or all be out. It would be pretty ridiculous and arbitrary if only one or two of them are let back in.

The recurrent rules are not ridiculous and arbitrary. They have consistent rules. It is just the the “experts” do not fully understand them.

We have talked about these rules at considerable length, as they do pop up frequently when songs beat recurrency or return after it.

Sure but that doesn’t mean we know what they are One week one off database errors notwithstanding I believe they have a consistent set of rules Unless they publish them we are left to guess

It honestly wouldn't actually make sense if "Blinding Lights" in fact ends up Re-Entering. It literally of course dropped out of the Hot 100 last year after it spent 90 weeks on the Hot 100, So why would Billboard want to allow BL to once again return to the Hot 100 just because it will most likely place in the Top 25 again?

I agree with the festival oriented EDM boom but the moody pop transition started in 2013. You're right, but we started getting some slower tempo pop in 2012 amidst the party music. When Royals got #1 in late 2013, that's when it was really clear that we were in a new era.

I would love to see BL return, but at the same time I'm very confused as to why it would happen.

You have to keep in mind that "Blinding Lights" is now a super recurrent, Billboard will be breaking precedent if they actually let "Blinding Lights" return to the Hot 100 again, Even it's gains on all metrics shouldn't be a justifiable enough reason to allow BL to return. It should take a significant enough circumstance (Death or even a popular Cover of the original) to allow super recurrent songs like the Hot 100 longevity leader "Blinding Lights" to actually be allowed to come back.

Don't give any ideas to phieagles about BL charting from Abel dying cause who knows how desperate they are for it to chart I love BL, but I’m not that desperate. BL is already #1 on the all-time Hot 100. At this point, I care more about the United World Chart, where it’s still short. I’ll settle for BL charting on the UWC, but if Billboard further loosens the recurrent rules for BL to chart on the Hot 100 this week, I’ll take it.

What is a Super-Recurrent? A new made-up concept like “industry plant,” “signature song” or “negative bullet.”

The fact that "We Don't Talk About Bruno" is close of hitting top 10 and "Surface Pressure" is close of hitting top 20 is gonna make my interest for the charts to reborn.

isn't Blinding Lights' whole thing how it broke precedent by being the longest running hit ever and also having the highest re-entry ever

What is a Super-Recurrent? I don't know if that's an actual thing, but I do see a difference between a song that wouldn't have gone recurrent to begin with if not for holiday music, and one that was already recurrent but has a 1 week rebound due to year-end stuff.
