It's amazing to me how we can be nostalgic for that era, it doesn't feel that long go 2011 feels like a lifetime ago to me

I could have told you Abel wouldn't do a drawn out rollout for his next album without him making that IG post lol. Even After Hours didn't have like some huge, elaborate rollout before it dropped. He released Heartless on November 27 and then Blinding Lights on November 29 (a move that many people didn't understand at the time). The music video for Blinding Lights dropped almost 2 months later. On February 19, he announced his forthcoming album title as After Hours, released a promo single with the same name and said the album would be dropping on March 20. On March 7, he performed on SNL and about 2 weeks later, the album dropped.
He knows he's oversaturated himself with the bulk of features he's appeared on over the last few months, COVID cases are doing record numbers around the world and properly promoting/rolling out the album would be impossible anyways (this is someone who still hasn't announced new tour dates for his cancelled tour probably because he hasn't been able to book any new dates).
Most albums that dropped in 2021 didn't exactly have elaborate rollouts. You drop maybe a single, announce your album and it's release date and drop it on said date and whoever will show up to support the album will.
I'm looking forward to Abel's album and how he performs in a post-bundle marketplace.

Why did all these country songs get a huge gain in radio today? Christmas eve/Christmas day a lot of stations play a lot of Christmas songs. So today/tomorrow will see songs get big gains on country radio as they are put back into normal rotations.

Heat Waves is number one on US Spotify... this year is gonna suck When Heat Waves spends 12 consecutive weeks at #1 on the Hot 100 >>> If that happens, then you know 2022 is a boring year with no notable releases. I love Heat Waves, but it was released in June 2020 and has been on the charts for a year now. By the end of that run, HW will be #1 with below 200 points.

phieaglesfan712 I'd like to see a brand new song be the #1 song on the Hot 100 but we all know how the charts work. Sometimes, an older song suddenly builds up enough momentum to top the Hot 100. We've seen this many times over the last couple of years so I'm never surprised when it happens.

Christmas songs/albums falling back out of the charts at the start of a new year always feels like a breath of fresh air. Not putting Wants and Needs on CLB was the biggest mistake of his career. This song is way bigger than most people think it is, it even was the most streamed song of 2021 on AM in the US.

It's just so Imagine Dragonsy with the monogenre. It's not the worst of mainstream alt (there's way too shit in there) but this is still far from good. It's just not a kind of music I want to here, let alone if I had to listen to the radio.

atg I wouldn't go as far as calling it the biggest mistake of his career (Drake has made many bigger miscalculations/mistakes — since the start of his career, he's given away some of his biggest hits to other artists), but it showed me his mindset going into the release of CLB. Laugh Now Cry Later/What's Next/Wants and Needs/Lemon Pepper Freestyle could have all been easily tacked on to CLB. I remember saying none of them would make it on to CLB and people on here questioning why he would do that as it made no sense. I may be reaching, but the general vibe I've gotten from him with this era is CLB is like an overcooked meal. He started working on it in 2019, was ready to drop it in 2020 but delayed it when the pandemic hit and released Dark Lane Demo Tapes as a placeholder and CLB ended up dropping in late 2021. 2+ years is the longest time he's ever spent working on an album/mixtape. I feel like he got tired of working on it and just wanted it out so he could be done with it. Knowing him, he's probably started work on another project already. I'm glad he's even pushed some songs off it on radio because he's done the least in terms of promoting the album and it feels like he couldn't care less about the era. dremolus - solarpunk I agree with you. It's definitely more generic than standout but then again, isn't that what most of the songs on the charts these days are? We've just gotta take the good with the not-so-good when it comes to songs that perform well on the charts.

Honestly I'm all for "Heat Waves" going #1. At first I didn't really pay much attention to it but when it clicked, I mean it CLICKED. Its personally my favorite hit single of 2021 and seeing it make a resurgence was a delight to see.

17(+1) Doja Cat - Woman 569,268 (+58,097)
Second biggest gain in the Top 20 excluding the recurrent songs getting a New Year/countdown boost. It's really impressive how stable this has been in gaining even though it went viral months ago.

Calling it now: Woman is gonna end up being Doja's longest charting single. Maybe not her biggest hit ever, but it's already over 20 weeks in and it feels like it's just about to get started

A Levitating tea...
Also, I think for the most part Drake's eras have been handled pretty well. One exception I can point out right away would be their failure to give Too Good a video. That should have been an easy Top 10 hit.
