Maybe "We Don't Talk About Bruno" is going to be what dethrones "Easy On Me" if The Weeknd can't do it?

I really hope they can send songs on Encanto in the radio. I think "Surface Pressure" is the most radio-friendly.

When you say people do you mean Taylor fans? Because the general public isnβt really aware of her last 2 albums. They did well for a few weeks commercially and have been forgotten. I usually look forward to your intellectual input but this is... Lol Same. I miss old not-trolly degen. He was fun and could actually write some great posts. But he joined my block list a couple weeks ago.

I agree that Surface Pressure is the most accessible of all the songs that are blowing up from Encanto. I prefer WDTAB for being more interesting and colorful, but Disney sending that to radio would be like if they sent Under The Sea or Belle to radio around the time those respective films came out - it's too "Broadway" for that kind of medium.

It had Sebastian Yatra, so it'll give the song some star power, like Alessia Cara's "How Far I'll Go" or Demi Lovato's "Let It Go".

Maybe "We Don't Talk About Bruno" is going to be what dethrones "Easy On Me" if The Weeknd can't do it? Sacrifice and Less Than Zero (if pushed) could be the only songs from Dawn FM that has a chance at #1 and could probably beat Easy On Me if Bruno doesnβt.

So, The Weeknd opened with lower first day numbers than Adele did on Spotify?

I would like to see how well it holds up throughout the week, but I remember people here and other places saying how "disappointing" Adele's streams were for the first day.

The most surprising thing about the Encanto tracks is that they just keep gaining and gaining in streams. βSurface Pressureβ broke 800k today, and Bruno is heading toward 1.3m, not to mention the rest of the tracks.

Of course even more so on 2nd day when people are choosing specific tracks to listen to

If the "not proper songs" tracks contribute to the overall total streams, then they should be noted.

Adele's streaming debut numbers were indeed disappointing, considering Easy On Me broke streaming records.

The most baffling thing for me is that genuinely it seems as if people are more interested in the soundtrack than the movie Though I get it, since I personally didn't really enjoy the movie that much to begin with

I could be wrong, but I think the songs started taking off once the movie was available there. Maybe it's doing better there than it did at the box office.

I think everyone who has seen Encanto loves it? I don't have Disney+ and the theaters are closed so yet to see the movie but love some of the soundtrack even without seeing the movie.

So. I finally had time to listen to Dawn FM, and all I gotta say is...I like it.
The concept of hearing the album as if I'm listening to a radio broadcast is actually a really neat idea. Reminds me of Orson Welles' "War of the Worlds" broadcast. But, let's be honest, Abel is no Welles, and the album had some flaws.
The songs are all good, but it's kinda forgettable, unlike the songs in After Hours. Maybe it's because of The Weeknd's overexposure, but I barely find a song that I instantly found as a favorite, maybe Take My Breath or Sacrifice.
About the features, Tyler's verse is mediocre, Wayne's verse is alright, and I like Quincy and Carrey's monologues.
Songs I see sticking around at the charts: Sacrifice, I Heard You're Married
Overall, it's a nice album. 7.75/10

Maybe it's doing better there than it did at the box office. Disney don't release their numbers. all the so called ratings are from third party's guesstimate.(based on their own platform uses) Encanto is still #1 trending on D+. so I guess it's doing great.

I'm mostly referring to the discussion online. If you're to peep on twitter, most of the activity related to Encanto is related to the soundtrack (...or Bruno). While the digital release definitely did help and it had to perform well, I think that what stuck with most people are the songs, not the movie itself

I mean Adele was the one expected to demolish every single record with her comeback lol. The fact she did numbers that Weeknd is doing in a career fluke after consecutive duds of Take My Breath, One Right Now, etc does not make her numbers look betterβ¦
