Dawn FM - I feel like people aren't separating art from artist here. All these Weeknd stans praising an album in which you can barely distinguish one song from the next. Abel's proven himself to be a musical genius, but this album ain't it you have the right to express your opinion, and we all respect that, but don't speak on my (our) behalf. We donβt hear the same things and we donβt have the same taste. Fortunately, that's why there are 1000 genres and 20439243 artists. |

Is it worth noting that Jan streaming numbers are often worse than most other months with the exception of the monster that was DL? It's certainly impressive that he currently holds the top 9 on Spotify and most of the other tracks from the album in the top 20, but yes, January is a very slow month and competition is especially low right now, so if he were to release in another month during the year with the same numbers, his rankings almost certainly would be lower. |

Abel has the entire top 20 on Spotify (minus 1 track but its barely a track anyways), and people are still saying itβs underwhelming? For a January still being in the pandemic, I would say these numbers are more than great, and we shouldnβt expect DL numbers at all. Only 4 other non Abel songs are over 1 million+ streams right now, and 2 of them come from the other album bomb from Gunna.
If Dawn FM was released during the summer where streaming would be higher, and it did the same exact numbers then yes it would be underwhelming. Pulse just needs to lower their expectations when it comes to performance. Album bombs would never do the same damage every time, especially from the same artist.

I agree that the album flows well as an overall thing and is an interesting listening experience but it lacks highlights individually (singles and strong returning points).
I liked βGasolineβ the most, but Iβm not sure itβs really radio friendly.
The big elephant in the room ofcourse which has already been mentioned to death is that he has just over killed this sound and aesthetic so it really isnβt as interesting anymore.
This album is kinda like what 20/20 Experience Part 2 & Evermore were, except they were released just mere months later and their predecessor wasnβt nearly as dragged out so it feels even more unnecessary than they were.

Good Spotify numbers for Gunna too.. he might actually fight for that #1 spot on album chart. Many people think Evermore is better than Folklore. I just had a discussion about that with a colleague the other day. When you say people do you mean Taylor fans? Because the general public isnβt really aware of her last 2 albums. They did well for a few weeks commercially and have been forgotten. |
