Very excited to see Mercy leaves! Good thing bigfan101 has already voted and cannot go back and tank Eric Church even harder in retaliation 😂 I don’t really think that is possible. 😂

Yasssss to carriefan15 for helping me take the trash out!!! We FINALLY both lose our last place rank! It might be a surprise to some to see "The Bones" bowing out now, as popular as it was and as recent as it was, but alas, the time has very much already come. As much as I love Maren, there is just something about this song that I cannot stand. I think it's the stupid way she delivers the hook. The hook is terrible to begin with imo, probably because it is based on one of the most awkward idioms in existence, but it's made even worse when she uses that super thin, nasally, whiny tone, and then slathers it up in technology to make it sound as processed as possible. I cannot believe that THIS garbage was the song to turn her into a multi-format superstar (and that we then proceeded to take it all the way to the top 10 in a year-end rankdown)...

"Tin Man" was a pretty consistent top 30 contender for the first half of this rd, before falling a bit in the middle. Even then, it was pretty consistently bound to finish somewhere in the 50s, until all of a sudden the final couple of lists knocked it back to the 60s for the only time in the entire submission period This song is so beautiful! The lyrics have never stopped hitting hard, and it's one of my favorite vocals from Miranda

"My Heart Can't Tell You No" is actually my most played song by Sara, much better than the original Rod Stewart version. Queen of covers

In what may be an unpleasant surprise for quite a few, Pulse's undeniable Queen of Country Rankdowns not only bows out next.....but was in fact a bottom 10 contender for the majority of the rankdown!!!! Sara Evans shocked the hell out of me by being one of our first consistent bottom 5 contenders, but I need not have worried because she did finally manage to turn it around once we got more people on board and all the extreme ranks started to balance each other out for every song. "My Heart Can't Tell You No" is far from being one of her essential hits, and I could certainly see an argument being made for it to have been a poor single choice, and maybe even a bit of a head-scratcher to be in a list of the best songs of the decade. But still, average Sara Evans is better than way too many modern artists at their absolute best, so you won't find me complaining at her presence Edit: And you've gotta give her credit for yet another iconic video!! Her videos have always been very well done and entirely underrated. I love how this one has two different endings!

"Even if it Breaks Your Heart" shocked me in this rankdown! I do like it, but I also always considered it to be just one of the bland mainstream male songs of 2012. Eli Young Band has never done anything that I would consider among "the best" of the decade, even when I do like it. So imagine my surprise to see this being a top 40 contender for the majority of the rankdown! It did trend downwards as more lists came in, but still did much better than I would have expected it to all things considered.

Maddie & Tae burst onto the scene with a throwback '90s/'00s sound that I fell in love with from the moment I first heard their album, and this song was one of the biggest reasons why!! The entire vibe is just completely on-point, from the lyrics to the arrangement to the personality that shines through in the vocals. I have since overplayed this one a tad for myself, so I don't listen to it as much anymore, but Maddie & Tae still have yet to top their debut album for me! I'm still rooting for them to hit it big because that sound is still in there somewhere!

7. Which of the following random songs is most likely to escape the bottom 30??!! "Vice", "homecoming queen?", "Voices, or "Mercy"?
Soooo, when I asked this question, "homecoming queen?" was in fact the only song that was going to escape the bottom 30!!!! "Mercy" made a sudden jump thanks to LBTrocks' list at the very last possible minute, thereby escaping the bottom 30 and making this question more or less no longer factual Still, either way, Kelsea has the only song here to escape the 70s!! ........ isn't "Voices" still in? ETA: The timing! Lmao

Man, listening to "Voices" right now it almost feels really bizarre that this song is from the same decade as songs that came from later years. It doesn't sound dated necessarily, but definitely like a throwback to another time period. And nobody in the modern scene can touch on that throwback vibe the way that Chris can! That is what makes him so great as an artist imo.

I totally understand the appeal of Ashley McBryde! But I do not really understand the appeal of "Girl Goin' Nowhere". I will allow that the lyrics are really meaningful, and I could see this being the sort of ballad that is much more effective in a live setting as a result of the lyrics! But the studio version just tends to leave absolutely no impression on me. Her voice is amazing, and I am glad to see her sticking around and achieving some success lately, but imo this song overstayed.

The alternate version of Girl Goin' Nowhere (that was in AllAccess for a while before it is removed) should have been released widely.

wow, I lost 3 top20's but at least none of them were top10s (or 15, really) and there were some songs that were out that I don't really love and I thought would be here longer (Tin Man, The Bones). so I'll call it a win!

. bboat11, you got an explanation for Little Big Town being Lucas Ben Thomas instead? LOL Also, the Eric Church purge is LONG overdue. Beginning to think yall just ranked his songs 1-9.
