Okay so, the results are calculated. For anyone who wanted to participate but didn’t get their list in on time, there are two ties that I would really like to have broken. Feel free to send me a message, and I’ll send you the ties and let you decide which songs should be ranked higher. Once again, I will only accept an odd number of tiebreakers, and it will be first come, first served.

For everyone else, welcome to the show! I hope to make this as fun as possible. In addition to the rankdown itself, I want to play an additional game. Here’s how it works. I’m gonna give y’all a survey for what will happen. Every correct answer will be one point, and every perfect ranking in the RD will be one point. In the end, I’m gonna tally up the points, and whoever has the most will win! I’m going to begin posting songs on Thursday, April 21 at 8pm EST, so please post your answers by then if you want them to count. This is totally voluntary, and if you want to just sit back and enjoy the RD, then by all means feel free! So with all that said, here is the survey! 1. Which song will finish #1?2. Which song will finish #100?3. Which songs will be in the top 10? (1 point per correct answer)4. Which songs will be in the bottom 10? (1 point per correct answer)5. Which song will have the highest standard deviation?6. Which song will have the lowest standard deviation?7. Place the following songs in the correct order from highest to lowest by artist (1 point per correct ordering):-AC/DC: Back in Black, Highway to Hell, Thunderstruck-Adele: Hello, Rolling in the Deep, Someone Like You-Bruno Mars: Just the Way You Are, Uptown Funk-Coldplay: The Scientist, Viva La Vida-Credence Clearwater Revival: Fortunate Son, Have You Ever Seen the Rain-Ed Sheeran: Perfect, Shape of You, Thinking Out Loud-Elvis Presley: Can’t Help Falling in Love, Jailhouse Rock-Eminem: Lose Yourself, Till I Collapse, Without Me-George Michael: Careless Whisper, Last Christmas-Guns N Roses: November Rain, Sweet Child O Mine-Linkin Park: In the End, Numb-Maroon 5: Girls Like You, Moves Like Jagger, Sugar-Metallica: Enter Sandman, Nothing Else Matters-Michael Jackson: Beat It, Billie Jean, I Want You Back, Thriller-Queen: Another One Bites the Dust, Bohemian Rhapsody, Don’t Stop Me Now, Somebody to Love, Under Pressure, We Are the Champions, We Will Rock You -The Rolling Stones: (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction, Paint it Black8. Winner is September or Billie Jean.
Last place is Let Her Go, Girls Like You, or Dance Monkey.
Highest SD is something like Don’t Stop Believin, Living On A Prayer, Bohemian Rhapsody, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, both Metallica songs, maybe the song that I ranked 96, as I think it might make top 30.
As far as highest song by decade I’ll guess 2010s the highest song will be Uptown Funk.

Does this tiebreaker method mean some posters--specifically people who didn't fully participate--will know some of the results of the rankdown before the rest of us do?

I don’t feel like answering all the questions but let me just make some top 10/bottom 10 predictions:
There are a lot of top ten contenders, I’d say Billie Jean, Dancing Queen, Dreams, and September feel like pretty safe bets go make it. I could see 1 or both Coldplay songs being top ten contenders, maybe MJ’s other songs, and idk this is a more “out-there” prediction but maybe something like Poker Face?
Bottom Ten will probably have a good amount of newer songs, any or all of these songs I could see being here: All Of Me, Dance Monkey, Girls Like You, Let Her Go, Shape Of You, Sugar. I Could see Everything I Do, I’m Yours and maybe some other songs end up here as well

Does this tiebreaker method mean some posters--specifically people who didn't fully participate--will know some of the results of the rankdown before the rest of us do? Only which songs are tied together. They won’t know where those songs rank in the overall rankdown, or even which pairing ranks higher than the other

1. Which song will finish #1? billie jean or september
2. Which song will finish #100? i'm yours or girls like you
3. Which songs will be in the top 10? (1 point per correct answer) honestly there are many contenders here, but i feel pretty confident in dancing queen, take on me, beat it, thriller, viva la vida, dreams, and another one bites the dust. maybe lose yourself and rolling in the deep can sneak in too idk
4. Which songs will be in the bottom 10? (1 point per correct answer) happy, let her go, dance monkey, that bryan adams song i'm too lazy to type out, maybe closer and shape of you and/or perfect?
5. Which song will have the highest standard deviation? don't stop belevin and maybe bohemian rhapsody. other than that i can see maybe a few 2010s songs getting high sd's, probably see you again or jtwya (i'm throwing out wild guesses here lol). i'll also make a bold prediction that blinding lights will be up here too bc i know there are a lot of people who are sick of that, though i'm not sure how many of them participated so i'm probably completely off here lmao
6. Which song will have the lowest standard deviation? the songs that win and lose idfk
7. Place the following songs in the correct order from highest to lowest by artist (1 point per correct ordering): -AC/DC: Back in Black, Highway to Hell, Thunderstruck -Adele: Hello, Rolling in the Deep, Someone Like You -Bruno Mars: Just the Way You Are, Uptown Funk -Coldplay: The Scientist, Viva La Vida -Credence Clearwater Revival: Fortunate Son, Have You Ever Seen the Rain -Ed Sheeran: Perfect, Shape of You, Thinking Out Loud -Elvis Presley: Can’t Help Falling in Love, Jailhouse Rock -Eminem: Lose Yourself, Till I Collapse, Without Me -George Michael: Careless Whisper, Last Christmas -Guns N Roses: November Rain, Sweet Child O Mine -Linkin Park: In the End, Numb -Maroon 5: Girls Like You, Moves Like Jagger, Sugar (honestly this is a tossup lol, i don't think any of them will survive like bottom 30 at most lmao) -Metallica: Enter Sandman, Nothing Else Matters -Michael Jackson: Beat It, Billie Jean, I Want You Back, Thriller -Queen: Another One Bites the Dust, Bohemian Rhapsody, Don’t Stop Me Now, Somebody to Love, Under Pressure, We Are the Champions, We Will Rock You -The Rolling Stones: (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction, Paint it Black
8. What song will be the highest ranking song of each decade? (1 point per decade guessed correctly) won't do all of them but:
2010s: rolling in the deep 2000s: viva la vida 1980s: billie jean 1970s: september
9. Face Offs (guess which will be highest; 1 point per correct guess) -Christmas songs: a) All I Want For Christmas is You b) Last Christmas -Country songs: a) Love Story b) Take Me Home, Country Roads -Another a) Brick in the Wall b) One Bites the Dust -Sweet: a) Child O’ Mine b) Dreams (Are Made of This) c) Home Alabama -Better Dreamer: a) Eurythmics b) Fleetwood Mac -Best “I Love You” song: a) All of Me b) Can’t Help Falling in Love c) Halo d) I Will Always Love You e) Just the Way You Are f) Nothing Else Matters g) Perfect h) Thinking Out Loud

I have Viva La Vida high, but I really don't think that it is a top 10 lock at all. I'm surprised that multiple people are predicting that top 10 over Take On Me, Stayin Alive, or even Stand By Me, that have not been mentioned yet unless I missed it, which I think those 3 could make the top 10. But I could be wrong.

The reason I’m taking awhile to do reveals is because I’m doing this all mechanically and need time to double check all the numbers and to calculate the SDs. Also, y’all have had over two months to work on this and get it in

There’s a system on google sheets you can type STdev = (drag the cells you want to calculate). Same with the points, Sum = (drag cells you want to calculate). Assuming you are not using google sheets or excel. I’m taking a class right now that requires excel using so I am getting a bit used to it myself. Otherwise if you are doing this all manually, it’s going to take forever.

yeah, for a rankdown this big I would definitely recommend using a spreadsheet, it makes basically every aspect of hosting a rankdown quicker and easier

Not even gonna try guessing on a list like this because I just know everyone is gonna have some random personal deep connection to at least one of these classic songs and every ranking will be all over the place.

Also, y’all have had over two months to work on this and get it in (I am here as a spectator) Do you mean entering the ranks manually? In that case, the Text to Columns function in Excel should be helpful. Basically you type in a delimiter and it will separate the songs and the ranks in columns for you if the participants send in a format that allows you to do this. Be careful though, you need to double-check the separation results because almost all large rankdowns had mistakes due to this feature (wrong song names from a participant's list could make this happen).

If Take Me Home Country Roads beats Love Story I’ll cry Oh you have nothing to worry about. Being on Pulse, I know the top songs are gonna be Pop Adjacent, so Taylor is unfortunately probably making top half while John Denver gets robbed at a random number like 66
