No it has not. It will not have nearly the same playlisting either and the fans have very well spent most of their money on this single lmao. I mean, videos have hundreds of thousands of likes and millions of views with the audio, I would consider that semi-viral. We've seen time and time again playlisting isn't needed if the song goes viral, which may or may not happen, who knows. You're also quite ignorant to say that fans have spent "most of their money" on this single when they probably spent max $5 for the different versions. Relax, let's see what happens. Ppl are literally sending 100's of dollars to big pages through "tips" as they create new accounts and use privacy cards. Only ignorant one here is you. It'll definitely have an impact on the buying ability next week. Obviously not a huge amount but it will.

Are we going to keep tracking this until the second coming of Jesus? I love Abel and all, but it's beyond time to let this one go, lol. You see why the argument of "The Weeknd should've waited until the After Hours singles were gone before dropping" doesn't work because the general public refuses to let Save Your Tears and Blinding Lights go. It would be easy now to expect these 2 year old singles to be gone from the charts but people keep streaming them. How long should Abel have to wait? Those two singles are gonna haunt the rest of his career. he still should’ve waited 😂

Can somebody please explain to me Billboard's recurrent rules and why Drunk (And I Don't Wanna Go Home) isn't allowed to re-enter the charts if it's currently top 50 on radio and gaining? Makes no sense to me, does it have to have enough points to be in the top 50 and it doesn't at this point? Already spent over 20 weeks (24) on the chart, which means it needs to be above #50 and rising on at least two metrics to be allowed back. It's only #14 on Hot 100 Recurrents. #2 there is "Happier than Ever" which just dropped below #50 this week, so it's not even close. It's harder for songs to come back if they're already marked as recurrent, even with label support. "One Too Many" had a similar radio rebound but it had never left the chart so it got to chart until the minute it lost it's radio bullet.

Nicki's new song will be out this Friday. It's gone semi-viral on TikTok. Makes me wonder, why they release the non-viral song first then It was kind of smart to do it this way. The 1st single is always likely to chart high based on hype, so it’s better to make that the weaker song. No point to burn the better song first. The 2nd single being the stronger song makes it a 1-2 punch. Had DWHAP been 2nd, it probably wouldn’t have performed as well.

Is the 100k sales prediction for Nicki just sales or it also includes streaming?
I think she might very well get the #1, even in she doesn't sell that much. Her radio numbers will be practically the same as Bruno. She will most likely get 20 million streams. With those numbers, I think she will only need to sell around 60k to overtake Bruno.

I don't get why some of you Weeknd stans are so defensive and quick to say Abel makes no mistakes. He clearly got ahead of himself and released too early and that's that. Even most of the others on here who frantically likebombed every post in Abel's defense eventually admitted that it was his fault for screwing up the album's release

I’ve been thinking it also probably has to do with some people streaming both songs from The Highlights as well so maybe that’s the factor in what’s haunting his career right now.

His NFT The Source? Mistake. His feature with Aaliyah? Mistake. Releasing After Hours' followup almost 2 years after its release? Not a mistake just the GP refusing to let BL and now SYT go. From a commercial viewpoint he should've waited for physicals to get a billboard 200 #1 but other than that commercial mistake, when do you propose he should have dropped DFM? When SYT fell off? Who knows when that would have been and even if it fell off it may still be garnering 450-500k streams a day. Abel does make mistakes but dropping DFM before waiting for SYT to die isn't one of them. I, for one, can't fathom why people would want to stream SYT over OOT or ITSE but that's what is happening. Should he have waited any longer? No I don't think that would've impacted things much at all. Maybe he could've waited till the end of Jan but that's about as long as he should've waited imo.

I do think he could have gone the Dua Lipa route, releasing a bunch more music and releasing it as After Hours: The Coming of the Dawn or something like that. Or he could have built up to the release of his own album and focused on it a bit more instead of jumping on a random track every week. He (& his team) went with something in the middle, which surely hurt the success of this album. I also don't think it's resonating with audiences as much.
it is all okay, though. After Hours was a massive era and it's always hard to follow up those. Reputation, Positions, Certified Lover Boy, Changes, Prism... all very successful on their own, but definitely a slump down from the astronomical standards set by their predecessors. looks like we'll add Dawn FM to that list.

I also feel like maybe The Weeknd has just exhausted the sound introduced on “Blinding Lights.” Obviously it’s the golden standard, but everything else since has paled in comparison. By the time “Take My Breath” and “Sacrifice” came it felt like more of the same (even though the songs are all sonically different). I think the only real reason why “Save Your Tears” was a hit was because it got a proper push on radio after BL had finally expired. It could’ve been a handful of other songs in it’s place (like the much more superior “In Your Eyes). But SYT worked because radio was finally asking for a follow up.
They basically need to just wait a little at this point and just press the restart button when they push the next song to radio. “Out of Time” is the best option at this point as it’s appeal can cross to R&B and Urban as well as Hot AC/AC.

Literally just a few months from now would have probably done the trick. SYT and BL don't have to die out completely, but just so they're a little less fresh in people's minds and not as high on the charts, because he is clearly over-saturated now and people are needing a break from him. Plus, the launch of this era actually started last July/August leading up to the release of Take My Breath and when DFM was first announced as the follow-up album to be imminently released, and that is hard to argue was DEFINITELY too early.

So, is DWHAP actually challenging for #1 or not? And let me get this straight, only 2 copies per purchase count, right?
Barbz seem a bit confused from what I've seen, I saw like 3 different numbers being tossed around, someone said they aim for 40k? If they do that with the new rule I will be kinda impressed.

Didn't seeing green do like 35k with the same 3 versions and mass buying options available?

It's really funny bc a lot of the nicki fanpages are fabricating DM's from TOTC and other chart pages in an attempt to push the fanbase harder, as if the #1 is in reach. The length ppl will go on that app is truly hilarious. Monday is going to be interesting to see how big of an effect this rule truly is!

So say nicki’s song really sold 100k this week. It will be filtered wouldnt it? Because of the new billboard rule of purchasing 1 digital sale. If the rule change didn’t happen she’d def debut at 1 correct?

I assume that 100k is not filtered.
It's always suspicious to see INSTRUMENTAL version at #1 on iTunes. No way general public buys instrumental, so it's all same people who are buying/have bought the vocal version.

^like Soundclock & Mayman already said (on this page), the 100k are song equivalent units, not pure sales only.
So it is like 20k pure sales and ~11M streams, or something like this. We have had songs move 500k+ units weekly.
Bruno had 37.6M streams and 13.6k sales last week, it will probably be the best selling song this week aswell. Unless Nicki sells 100k+ pure since it will have 20M streams.

Yes, but if the song has let's say 30k of unfiltered sales (of those 100k), that'd mean the "real" numbers are 70-80k or so and thus most likely it haven't "sold" 100k when the final numbers are out for Billboard.

Nicki's instrumental version has a whopping 3600 total streams on Spotify, so she's not getting much help there

You mean 30k filtered? Cause if 30k is unfiltered out of the current total, this means that after filtering it should be even less IN CASE they were not buying 1 per purchase/credit card and were purchasing like 4 or even 2. She has 3 version + website sales though so I think they could pull 30k total (legit) sales, but not more than that imo. If they do more than that I'll be convinced the filtering is not all that different from before, like before it was 4 per purchase per week and BB still filtered sales, just not to an extreme. As for the 100k, that's total units as in combined with streams. Looking at one of their big fanbases though, they have 20k as a goal it seems, and are currenlty trying to get 7k-8k more until tracking ends. How many points is 20k?
