Nicki's instrumental version has a whopping 3600 total streams on Spotify, so she's not getting much help there As with BTS the angle there is to sneak another version for people to buy on iTunes. (Not a lot of people would organically pay for an instrumental tbh, especially since people that want to hear that would probably default to Youtube for the one time they'd want to hear it and move on).

At least theirs pull more than 3,000 streams. 😭 Barbz really said ''we won't even pretend to listen to it''.

i get the point your making but I feel celebs can only feign ignorance can only be used for so long. Granted, Abel's NFT was in the early months of (this hopefully) fad so okay, he gets a "pass" (barely) but if (or when) he pulls a tactic like this again, he's got no excuse and should be held accountable, seeing as how they should all know better by now.

Who even broke the news about the supposed 1 purchase per version rule? Is it believable? I know Chartdata tweeted about it but where did they get the information from? Wouldn't surprise me if nothing had really changed.

I guess we're going to find out. It could be a pretty exciting Monday on the charts.

Oh I wasn't trying to excuse The Weeknd on this issue. If anything, you could interpret an action that is completely uncaring as worse than one that is misguided but is actually motivated by something understandable.

Who even broke the news about the supposed 1 purchase per version rule? Is it believable? I know Chartdata tweeted about it but where did they get the information from? Wouldn't surprise me if nothing had really changed. It was reported by SingleMusic, which appears to be a company that works with a lot of big artists on reporting sales, insights, etc. Seems pretty reputable. blog.singlemusic.com/blog/posts/newbillboardguidelinesHere's what they said: "Beginning with the week ending Jan. 6, 2022: - A customer who purchases 1 unit (at ISRC or UPC level) will have their sales ingested by MRC Data without adjustment. - A customer who purchases 2 or more units (at ISRC or UPC level) will have their sales reduced to 1 unit." So we know it's 1 per person (assuming they still check credit cards) per version. I'm not sure if the same person can buy on 2 different platforms (iTunes & website), and have it count twice. As for why Billboard didn't report it... Honestly, I think they're trying to avoid the controversy. They had MRC (owned by the same group) report it to the labels and tried to avoid causing a huge PR disaster because "Billboard is making it harder for kpop to chart" or something.

Were they not previously tossing the sales out ENTIRELY if it was more than 4 copies? Now they're reducing sales over 1 back to 1 i see. Interesting

That's interesting, I thought Billboard themselves confirmed it at one point, but I guess not. I can see why they wouldn't though, as they usually don't reveal their formula or exact purchasing rules because they don't want stans to know how exactly they can game the charts. I believe they only revealed the "4 copies per purchase" rule after 6ix9ine made that very bold accusation/threat against them a couple years ago.
Either way, we should know Monday whether anything's changed or not.

Honestly the thing with NFTs is that the idea itself (I know I'm in the minority here) is intriguing from an artistic point of view, for example gifting a song's NFT to another artist as a means of paying homage or respect, or perhaps charts like billboard could gift the NFTs of their charts to people who top them. It would genuinely be an interesting way of integrating technology into culture, since NFTs would basically function as awards or medals.
The thing is that that would mean that the scale would be very small and it wouldn't be done for profit (if anything it could potentially serve as good promo but not much else). And while this idea is genuinely intriguing, it got ruined or wasted by people who couldn't bother to consider making something more out of it, and as such they're only burning their money and the planet this way

Don't think BB cares like that about PR disaster and being accused of limiting kpop, given they have multiple times ''called-out'' multiple kpop acts before so. It probably has more to do with not wanting to say anything until it's been properly tested across several releases and to not give further leverage by specifying what exactly counts/doesn't count, thus buyers can't find eventual loopholes.

^Well. The timing seems right for it, given that he's one of the performers at the Superbowl halftime show on Sunday.

I'm ready to get hurt again An easy #1 for next week and might be the first song to get the top spot because of the superbowl (if he does drop of course). There could be challengers like Encanto, Ed/Taylor and Nicki/Lil Baby again, but i’m sure he can easily overcome it as the hype is going to be 200% this time compared to when he dropped Humble.

Keep in mind, not only are we waiting to see if there's any new single at all, we also don't know if it's going to be an actual track from the album or just "The Heart Part 5" lol

It's gonna hurt especially hard when Kendrick doesn't drop tonight since now would actually be a good time for him to release new music

Kanye west & Alicia Keys Ed Sheeran & Taylor swift Nicki minaj & Lil Baby Kendrick Lamar Someone should take that no.1 spot from wdtab! Jungkook of BTS is releasing a single tonight as well, although I doubt it will be a real challenger for the top spot, as has tended to be the case for a lot of the BTS members' recent solo singles. Also, I'm not trusting Kanye or Kendrick to drop anything until they actually do so.

this song was boring on the album and it's boring as a duet. Taylor Swift surely elevated it but it went up from the basement to ground level, lol.

The Joker and The Queen is a brilliant song but it's too slow and long for streamers.

Odd that Taylor isn't promoting it at all on her social media or website. The link to the video or to purchase the single isn't even available on her website, it's like the song doesn't even exist for her! I wonder if this is because she's contractually prevented from doing so, or maybe she's pissed because she only got a "featuring" credit and not a co-lead credit. Or maybe she purposely chose the featured credit and not to promote it because she doesn't want to make it about her.
Tbh the video was just meh and she didn't really add much to the song.

It's still just as boring 💀 like I said, if it ends up successful, it's gonna be like Perfect's boring domination in early 2018 all over again.
The MV's cute tho. But it makes me feel old af

Was anyone interested in 'Joker' when the album came out? No.
Will anyone be interested in 'Joker' now when Taylor is part of it? Maybe.
Surely that doesn't guarantee a #1 debut...
