Today's extra was one of the biggest hits for this rapper from Oakland. Featuring vocals by Saja, it topped the dance chart, and peaked at #4 on the rap chart, #3 on the R&B chart, and #5 on the Hot 100.

I have been lurking through this list. I would have loved to have participated but sadly I'm not familiar with most of these songs. :( But I just saw the Top 10 and I am a fan of it!
Rooting for any of these songs to win or to rank within the Top 5: Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now) - C+C Music Factory All The Man That I Need - Whitney Houston Summertime - DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince Emotions - Mariah Carey I Love Your Smile - Shanice

Um....You Don't Have To Worry is THAT song! Edit: At this point, maybe you should worry lmfao! YDHTW is arguably the best aged/most fresh-sounding song on this rankdown. Honestly thought it was contending for the top 5.

The pitched-up "OW OW OW" Yes samples in You Don't Have To Worry sounded so silly that they made me laugh out loud. I'd be genuinely curious to know if the producers intended it to be funny.
Anyway C+C and Whitney need to leave

8. I Like The Way (The Kissing Game) - Hi-FiveFormed in Waco, Texas, Hi-Five originally consisted of Tony Thompson, Marcus Sanders, Russell Neal, Roderick "Pooh" Clark, and Toriano Easley. "I Like The Way (The Kissing Game)" was the second single from their self-titled debut album. Produced and co-written by Teddy Riley, it's their biggest hit, topping the R&B and Hot 100 charts. The music video is the first with new member Treston Irby, who joined the group after Easley was charged with first degree murder and manslaughter. Two of the members are no longer with us. Tony Thompson was found dead outside a Waco apartment in 2007, with the cause of death being inhalation of a toxic amount of freon. Roderick "Pooh" Clark passed away on Easter Sunday this year. In addition, Russell Neal is currently in jail charged with murder after fatally stabbing his wife. Apologies to B-Boy... "Kissing Game" got way further than I thought. Tony Thompson was my childhood vocal idol!

7. Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now) - C+C Music FactoryFormed in New York City by David Cole and Robert Clivillés, C+C Music Factory scored their biggest hit with their first single, "Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)". It topped the R&B, dance, and Hot 100 charts in the US, and also hit #1 in Austria, Germany, The Netherlands, and Switzerland. The song features a rap by Freedom Williams and vocals by Martha Wash, but when the music video premiered, Zelma Davis was shown lip-syncing to Wash's vocals. This eventually led Wash to sue Cole and Clivillés for fraud, commercial appropriation, and deceptive packaging. The lawsuit was later settled, with a disclaimer added to the music video that credited Wash for her vocals. David Cole passed away in 1995 with the official cause being spinal meningitis. Apologies to Juanca... Solid Top 5 and I love Romantic (the song and the video), but there is one song that soars above the rest, IMO.

Oh I thought the "when" was a typo and you meant to ask "where" lol Yes the songs did play today... specifically, right before my post, hence the "just played" phrasing

I hate I Love Your Smile. Remember hearing it during 92-93 and I hated it then too.
I wish LL+CJ had released another album together. LTBHE was better than any of the singles from the previous.

I'm pleasantly surprised C+C and Lisa Lisa made the top 10; I wasn't sure what people would do with the dance songs here. I also never know what people are going to do with rap so I'm glad to see Summertime make it as far as it did too. My #1 rank for it would probably have been #2 on another day, but the weather is getting warmer and that always sparks up nostalgia for me when it comes to this song.
I have no complaints about this top 5. I had a really hard time leaving #12 and #13 out of my top 10 when I was ranking (this was a hard year to rank in general). With that said I am absolutely rooting for my #2 song to pull off the win.

All of these songs are at least good, but I’m really rooting for any one of what’s now my top two to win.

Better than Take You Home, Head to Toe, Lost In Emotion? None of those songs were on their previous album. I was referring to Straight to the Sky. The ones you mentioned are from the first two.

Today's extra is by this rocker from NYC. His biggest hit on the Hot 100 peaked at #2, and also peaked at #10 for R&B. It was written during in the hopes of saving his struggling marriage to Lisa Bonet. It ultimately didn't work, as the couple separated and eventually divorced in 1993.
It Ain't Over 'Til It's Over - Lenny Kravitz
Fun fact: Lenny's mother was Roxie Roker, best known for her role as Helen Willis on The Jeffersons. He's also cousins with weatherman Al Roker.

God I'm glad I didn't participate. "I Can't Wait Another Minute" and "I'll Give All My Love To You" were my number 1 and 2. This site should be renamed "diva music board". ::flips hair and storms out:: While I guess I shouldn't be surprised because men sing those two songs, I am still a little shook that they were cut THIS early. Both songs are legit R&B classics and yet...both the inessential Phyllis Hyman song and...whatever Exclusitivity is, were ranked above them, LOL. What a mess. Also, the CMB hate is still weird to me, but whatever. Bunch of non-sexed up people on here. Also, @ R&B kings Jodeci not scoring a top 10. Is this song too hetero?? Overall, these results are a bloodbath. Next to IYBT, Miracle was my favorite on that album. I played it daily as a kid. Of COURSE Will Smith's corny ass is Top 10, LOL. While Summertime is his best song, it's still basic AF. IAOTIO will always be Lenny's best song, so I'm glad it's his biggest hit. He should have recorded more R&B, to be honest.

So about Hi-Five...I absolutely had no idea that "I Like The Way" was the second single from their album. It also explains why Treston was in the video, but not on the album cover. Also, I thought Treston co-lead on "I Can't Wait Another Minute" since he was lipsyncing the chorus, but it was Easley, who was already out of the group.
"I Love Your Smile" is a feel good song. lol. I'm pretty sure BET's Video Soul used to play the no-rap version. I thought that was the only version until maybe 2007.
