^ See I could buy into that argument if she had more under her belt. Cause how I’m seeing it is an opener for the most part (did headline some small theatres) with 3 solo hits won EOTY after only being well known for a year (right around her Yellowstone debut.) I don’t think many fans would be up in arms if it were a couple of years down the road when she’s headlining arenas, and grown more. But as it stands to so easily hand someone (not just Lainey, anyone) EOTY, after CU & ML busting ass for 20 years, headlining arenas, and racking in #1s, is nothing short of disrespectful; especially to Carrie who hosted it for all those years and had reach outside of the genre. With due respect as fellow Carrie and Miranda fans as you,I disagree that it is disrespectful for Carrie.Instead,I feel it is Carrie,Miranda and all those women who was unfairly treated by the CMA that contributed to the award that handled to Lainey. It's an apology not disrespect. If CMA declined Lainey the award to show respect for Carrie, then how in the world could CMA change? If holding on to the standards of touring,Lainey could never beat or even get close to her male contemporaries. So she won't win.And we will keep criticizing CMA for not giving women enough credits. I'm sorry if I may have offended you.I just simply have a different point of view. I really don’t care as much as this is going to make it seem like I do, but I simply disagree. If Carrie wasn’t nominated, then I’d hear you out. But why “apologize” to Carrie/Miranda by awarding Lainey, when they could just… award Carrie (another nominee) 🤷🏽♂️ It’s just so apparent that the WME voting block has the MOST influence over winners at this award show. With that knowledge it all seems… completely pointless? It just sucks for the deserving artists who aren’t associated with that voting block, like Kelsea, who are unlikely to get the recognition they deserve from their peers. I wonder if the WME voting block is common knowledge/discussed within the industry, or if it’s just something apparent to fans.

I'm sorry if I may have offended you.I just simply have a different point of view. Not offended in the slightest. But that's a hell of a backhanded apology to award someone so green and not as much under their belt, when Carrie & Miranda have done everything under the sun for the past 20 years to both earn this award at least once. There was always a justification by the industry to try to avoid giving it to Carrie, and by them awarding it to Lainey this soon, all of those justifications have become horse sh*t. If they truly wanted to "apologize" they'd have given it to Carrie this year, even if success wise it was probably Morgan or Luke's to lose. So respectfully, I disagree, and am beyond happy that when I went to Twitter to see what the public was saying about it was pretty much on par with how I felt.

I wonder if the WME voting block is common knowledge/discussed within the industry, or if it’s just something apparent to fans. It's known: www.savingcountrymusic.com/cmas-new-rules-help-reduce-campaigning-but-will-it-slow-wme-dominance/Keep in mind Garth Brooks signed with WME in 2016, and he then proceeded to win EOTY in 3 of the next 4 years. Multiple things can be true at once, and it is possible to be happy a woman won EOTY while also being upset that she did far less to win it than Carrie and Miranda have been doing to never win it. At the end of the day, this show is just like country radio where labels and teams jockey for position and make a point to push a certain song or artist to the top. For fans of the songs/artists being pushed, it's great. For fans of the songs/artists that don't have that support, it sucks. The reality is that if you keep placing importance on the 'machine' of radio and these awards, you are setting yourself up for disappointment unless you're stanning the chosen one of that time.

Ugh another year another deserving win falls by the wayside for Carrie. Don't know what she has to do to finally win this award.

Idk, I mean, I guess since Lainey won, it's hard to say who, "deserved," it. But I think this was one of Carrie's weaker years and while she was absolutely robbed in previous years, I can't really say the same for this year. If she would have won this year it could have been seen as a correction for all the years she didn't win that she should have though.

I think it's pretty obvious that Carrie is never gonna win another CMA award again for the rest of her career short of some sort of lifetime achievement award.

It’s nothing to do with what Carrie has done.
It’s to do with the politics. Carrie has done enough to win AT LEAST three times over. She’s been nominated 6 times, but based on recent events that should be like 12 times. Carrie began at the tail end of the pre-WME years, I believe Carrie’s awards career has been greatly impacted by this, as well as by simply peaking too soon. Taylor Swift arriving when she did also impacted Carrie, imo. Normally, an artist competes for the vocal categories a few times before graduating to EOTY (Carrie @ ACMS is a good example) - but Taylor Swift blew up right when Carrie was getting to this “natural” point… no way to know if Taylor’s slot would’ve gone to Carrie had she not been around at the time, but there’s no denying Taylor’s arrival probably thwarted whatever plans might have been in place for Carrie who graduated seamlessly at the ACMs, but for whatever reason could not at the CMAs.
Any way you put it, it’s all politics. The criteria might matter to make the nominations, but the wins are more or less popularity contests based on who has the most powerful management group behind them. We’ve known this for basically as long as Carrie’s been famous… the fact that she has any CMAs at all is impressive when you look at how the awards have fallen by management group since her start. Had Carrie been with the dominant group this whole time, we’d probably be talking about how she holds the record for nominations and wins.

It is wild to think about how many awards she’d have collected by now if she was with WME 🥺

Happy 18th Birthday to the most successful debut album in country music history, “Some Hearts”!!!
Should be RIAA certified Diamond soon enough, and I’m hoping they have something planned for the 20th year!

She’s an adult now! I remember being there when she was first born. I got this album for my 13th birthday and I was SO mad my parents made me wait a week after its release to get it because my grandma bought it as a birthday present for me. Such a phenomenal record and it’s held up so well over the years.

Simpler times 🥲 And I know I'm a stan, but I still listen to this album regularly. Such a strong debut. I'd really love it for Carrie to revisit this album’s sound in a future album.

Lowkey Some Hearts is still my favorite album from her.
I think objectively she has released "better" albums since but something about this record just strikes for me. Nostalgia plays a role I'm sure, yet I don't think that's the whole story.

All of y’all were hitting puberty when Some Hearts came out…meanwhile I was hitting pre-K I had just turned 5 the month before! And yet, as with Taylor’s debut, I VIVIDLY remember Carrie’s emergence, particularly how JTTW and BHC got me hooked for life, lol.

I was in college. I went to class that morning and then went to the FYE to get Some Hearts and Confessions on a Dance Floor. Good times!

Even though I’m from SC originally, I was never particularly a country music fan. Had never purchased or listened to a full country album. The first three singles were nice, and everywhere. But the first time I heard Wasted when it was released as a single? I was hooked and bought the album immediately. Been a fan ever since.

Random, but would have loved it if Carrie got a feature on Dolly’s current album!
She would have been a perfect fit.
On a related note, read an article saying Dolly has never had a #1 album on the Billboard 200.
Seems wild to me and really puts Carrie’s record for being the first woman with four #1 country albums (Carnival Ride, Play On, Blown Away, Cry Pretty) on the all-genre chart into perspective.
ETA: Also random, I’m listening to “Damage” and imagining a rendition where she goes off on the vocals backed by just an acoustic guitar 🤤

Love hearing everyone's stories of how they became a fan. I loved her voice from I can't make you love me on her Idol audition. I thought she had such a distinct and beautiful sound. Luckily she went on to make music I love, and have been a fan ever since. I'm a kelly fan too, but her music is very hit or miss for me. Still an amazing voice no matter what she sings. That applies to both of them I guess.

I remembered it was when I read the Billboard 200 news when Play On debuted at No.1. The cover and country description instantly stirred up my interests. The cover is so beautiful. And I listened to Cowboy Casanova for a while and thought it was good but lost interest. Then I downloaded Just a Dream and I watched the music video and I became Carrie's Stan ever since that.

Been a Carrie fan for 16 years now! Carnival ride was my 1st Carrie album. I actually own it with 5 extra Christmas songs on the bonus disc.
But what really solidified me as a fan was just a dream. I heard the studio version & watched her performance on YouTube. That song absolutely crushed my heart & has always been special to me because of its quality, emotion & storytelling

Anyone who hasn’t heard the rest of breakaway, I highly recommend addicted & hear me in terms of her vocals

After that, it's more songs than albums as a whole. Like, My Life would suck, Mr. Know it all LOVE! They're both amazing. I'd love a duet, but I don't ever see it happening for whatever reason. I do think they're friendly despite what some would have you believe, but it definitely just feels like it wouldn't happen.

Is D&R close to approaching gold certification? Signed copies of the cd were just released & I’m wondering what the motivation is behind that.

Why didn’t she record these fun Christmas songs for the album? I love secular stuff from Carrie, but I’d love even more to hear recorded versions of the mainstream classics!
