Why didn’t she record these fun Christmas songs for the album? I love secular stuff from Carrie, but I’d love even more to hear recorded versions of the mainstream classics! I'd assume it's because that's not the vibe she was going for and wanted a more cohesive album, which My Gift is, IMO. She can always release another with more mainstream appeal. Personally, I'm glad we got this one first, as these are the songs I grew up with that remind me the most of Christmas 😁

I was hoping they'd reunite since they were both in Vegas this week. Was lowkey hoping they'd dust off "Somethin' Bad" for a performance. Maybe Miranda comes to Reflection next.

The link doesn't work -- it seem to be something to do with the permissions.
But congrats! What a fantastic birthday!

The industry/fans wanted to pit these women against each other so bad. I'm happy they rose above all of that. Two of the most iconic careers in country music. Going to be a very long time until their success is replicated by a female.

I’ll be surprised if any of these new females come close to what Carrie achieved commercially. Yes, she is known as an American Idol winner but she was able to build on that fame and achieve longevity. I’m really excited for this next phase of her career and really wish her the best. A part of me though wishes she were a better songwriter/producer.

Whenever Miranda came out in full fledged support of Carrie in 2019 for EOTY, I knew she was genuine in her support for Carrie. Her words made me cry then, as they did again just now. It makes my heart happy to see these ladies continue on the tradition of female camaraderie in country music, I hope they do something together again. “Somethin’ Bad” was fun, but these girls together could make incredible music, especially without the pressures of scoring a hit.

Those two really are a couple of the most dominant and significant country artists of the 21st century. Love their posts, love their friendship.

For me it was back in 2014,Miranda was giving interview about Somethin' Bad I remembered that she talked about how it was for her to ask Carrie on the song She said it was like asking for first date And then I thought she must love Carrie so much And after that,I kinda feel funny when I read some of Miranda's stan saying mean things about Carrie I mean, why be mean to Carrie when your idol loves her so much?

It must be time for some certification updates, but will Capital bother to update them from her time with Sony? Unsure how that works.
I imagine Some Hearts is diamond at this point?
And Before He Cheats more than 7x platinum?
Also, Cowboy Casanova and Blown Away should have been pushed at pop radio.
Chaser should have been the 6th single from Storyteller after Choctaw smashed.
Okay, I'm done for now 👍🏽

It doesn’t hurt them to do so, but I don’t think there’s much of a rush to certify artists no longer on their roster.

Love that she’ll be busy next year. I hope next year is her final dates though; and she focuses more on her own tour in 2025. Most of her other peers that started their residencies after her have since had or have announced their final shows (Luke, Miranda, Katy.)
I just hope she doesn’t stay in the Vegas loop just because it’s easy.

My only concern with continuing with the Vegas thing is that for a lot of artists, it means they can't work on new music because they're so busy focusing on the residency. I know that hasn't seemed to be the case for Carrie thus far, but anything could happen.

I wish she/her label would push "Favorite Time of Year" every year.

She could have a legitimate Christmas hit with FTOY. I'm not sure anything else on My Gift would smash, but that song I think could do well for her.

I know she’s living her life, baking, churching, working out, loving on the family, and I LOVE THAT for Carrie, but it does baffle me that the extent of her Christmas promo this year is posting iPhone recordings of her Xmas performances in Vegas to her social media. I can’t help but feel jealous of the Kelly, Dolly, Reba, etc. fans who are getting more of their favorites than ever before! I know Vegas keeps her busy, but they could use that state-of-the-art stage to record some new music videos and/or performances for various shows like she’s done in the past.
FTOY could easily be one of those annual staples, as could Hallelujah, if there was any effort at all in promoting them annually.

Unpopular opinion… I’m over her Vegas residency. It was beautiful and iconic, but I wish it was wrapping up about now, and not extending into next year.
It takes away too much time/energy away from things that could actually still be furthering to help her career (writing, promoing, her own tour, etc.) I guess I’m just baffled at her “I don’t care” approach recently, because some of her choices she’s made seems like it would make sense for an artist in there 50s-60s, when almost all commercial viability is gone, not an artist that just reached 40 and still has a good deal of commercial viability left.
I mean goodness, Dolly’s promo for “Rockstar” ran circles around D&R’s promo and she’s pushing 80.

The only reason I disagree is bc I haven’t had the opportunity to see it yet and believe I will make it to a date next year. Otherwise, yes.

I know times have changed but Reba and Dolly had so many more albums in their career by the time they were Carrie's age and selfishly, I just wish Carrie released them more consistently. I know she spoiled us with the 'My Gift', 'My Savior' and then 'Denim & Rhinestones' in the span of three years but I fear we'll go back to one album every three or so years which just feels like so long.

In today's climate, an album per year would just mean 1 single released per album and there still wouldn't be a break between cycles. Wild.

In today's climate, an album per year would just mean 1 single released per album and there still wouldn't be a break between cycles. Wild. Unless she branched away from country music a la My Saviour. She could do a country album one year (2024), then a "side project" album like a live album, duets album, another Christian album, rock album, country classics album, etc. (2025), then another country album (2026) or something like that. Granted even that would only get us about 2 good singles per country album, but I don't think it would happen anyway. Maybe something like that could happen every two years, so country album 2024, other album 2026, then country album 2028, but that feels too long between country albums. A major problem is I honestly feel like Carrie is over it. She's over making and releasing country music. And that's fine! But I wish she would find something she was passionate about musically and pursue that. Be it rock, Christian, pop, or whatever. Lowkey, I'm half expecting her to announce retirement or a farewell tour of some sort sometime this decade.

Idk about retirement or a farewell tour, but I do wonder if the deminishing return in her album/singles will make the time period until we get the next album longer. I'll give Brad Paisley for example, he saw deminishing returns with his 2017 album, and while hasn't announced a retirement, still hasn't put out a new album since. Has released some singles, that struggled, but we're about to be going on 7 years with no album.
I'm worried that Carrie might have a similar outcome, because she just doesn't seem like making new country music is a priority anymore.

I weep at the pop girls of the 2000s disappearance from the public sphere. I know they all have their things that they want to do in life and I think that matters but I just loved those moments and I want them to continue forever. If Carrie wants to be a baker and gardener I’m happy for her but I’d love if she decided to dominate the scene again. I think public tastes have changed a lot. Much of Carrie’s music is her playing a character singing stories and such and the GP seems to want “authenticity” and “personal stories” which is fine but I think if Carrie were to write from her life, she’d have just feel good stories of marital bliss and family life, something the GP doesn’t seem to care for. I personally would love if she got weird with it and recorded an indie album or even pop music or stripped down country. I kinda want some songs that break the mold of verse chorus verse chorus bridge chorus. Give me Carrie Bohemian Rhapsody. We know she could do anything. I stan Denim & Rhinestones though and the GP doesn’t seem to, so what do I know? 😂

It's an absolute fact that a 90s inspired country album from Carrie would end careers.
