I like GS, but it’s a weird song - almost too weird. A great album track, but compared to this, a flat out poor choice for the lead single, imo.

GS lyrics gives me too much stalker and creepy ex vibe.

If they want to make GS haunting in a heartbreaking way, they should have tweaked the lyrics a bit and make it a really slow ballad. No power vocals.
The line "That keeping you up, all night memory" annoys me too. Feels so poorly constructed.

ETA: The album cover is great. Was reserving judgment but seeing it in Spotify really made it click for me. Major 80s vibes which I'm here for.

Carrie is at the point in her career where she can give zero fucks on what others want and do what is right for her. I selfishly have always wanted a full pop album from her and if it leans toward that then I will be extremely happy. Even if not, I am already liking the sound and style of this era. I am excited for whatever else she has in store.

She said it’s a nostalgic album, and while “Some Hearts” had some particularly “country” songs on it, there was also plenty of pop. So my impression is that she’s going back to that sort of style/sound.

I think she means the album is influenced by the sounds of her childhood. I expect some 90s country and 80s hair band rock in the mix too.

Ok. Finally hearing D&R in full. Yeah, of the 2 songs out so far this is waaaaaay better than ghost story. And i actually don’t see it being all THAT much of a departure from other pop country hits out there as far the sound goes.

Who knows what else is in store on this album but of what ive heard so far, this should have absolutely been the lead

I’m sorry but I’m genuinely flabbergasted that they had a title track of this caliber and didn’t chose it as the lead in conjunction with the album announcement!?… Like with Cry Pretty! Except this time they have an actual ear worm through and through! Totally perturbed by that, but still pumped for what’s to come!!

I second this, I'd pull GS and send this out ASAP in a perfect world. Realistically, this should obviously be the second single.

Honestly GS and D&R complement one another perfectly. I’ve been listening to both back to back and it just makes sense. I definitely get that “sing in your hairbrush” vibe that Carrie teased.
