I may be in the biggest minority with this opinion but for me, I couldn’t fully get into her entire arista albums. There were definitely standouts in each one, but I felt there was filler or inconsistency in each album. I also feel that Carrie wasn’t invested in those albums quite like she is with her capitol ones & it may be because she’s been a producer, knows the identity of each album & these are more personal/passion projects & based on her personality.
I also love that’s she’s been expanding her range from country to pop/rock/gospel/R & B. She’s effortlessly got the vocals for each genre & I’ve been able to introduce her to more people who aren’t country fans.
Regarding her sales, it’s pretty normal for an artist of any genre to have lower sales down the line in a career.

Onto the 5s!
1. Get Out Of This Town 2. Do You Think About Me 3. The Night Before (Life Goes On)
^ Dang those 3 are amazing!!! They should have all been singles
4. Burn 5. Southbound 6. Smoke Break 7. Undo it
I think this was the toughest one yet!!! Even Undo It I still really enjoy and it’d probably still be somewhere in the middle among all of Carrie’s discography

1-4 are amazing and honestly interchangeable, 5 is meh, 6 and 7 are mediocre at best tbh.

1) Do You Think About Me 2) Get Out Of This Town 3) Smoke Break 4) Burn 5) Southbound 6) The Night Before (Life Goes On) 7) Undo It
I enjoy all of these except Undo It. Do You Think About Me should’ve been Blown Away’s fifth single.

DYTAM was such a missed single opportunity. Still bitter “See You Again” got a single slot over it.

Storyteller is now Silver in the UK. It had the best chart run of her UK albums, but I feel like Church Bells must be doing some heavy lifting via streaming. I wonder if it's close to Silver itself.

I would maybe post a screenshot instead of the link. The comments are brutal.

NBC/The Voice posting that actually makes me think it could be happening. After tour & Vegas in the summer, there are no current fall 2023 plans.

Yeah, that post makes me think discussions are already underway. I thought it was a possibility after she appeared for “Hallelujah.” Carson couldn’t stop hyping her performance - it was apparent they were excited to finally have her on the show.

For the post to come from NBC/The Voice suggests to me it’s already a thing… The last emoji symbolizes that they have something to announce, but not quite yet… imo.
I think Carrie fans + voting is always a good combo. I know we already debated her ability to do a show like this, but ultimately I think people will fall in love with her just like the last time we got weekly doses of Carrie (Idol). She’ll be introduced to a ton of new fans, and if it’s true I’m already willing to bet her team will win.
She’ll have to open up and loosen up a bit, but I have total faith she’ll nail this role just like she absolutely nails everything else she does. In this age of celebrity renaissances, this could be the start of a big wave for Carrie, if true of course. Most negative perceptions of Carrie are based on false beliefs that she’s “given into Hollywood” with her plastic surgery/etc or that she is stuck up and rude. An opportunity to dispel those perceptions by “getting to know” her again isn’t a bad thing. Obviously this isn’t on the same scale as ‘Idol’ ~20 years ago, but the opportunity for positive viral moments and tons of media coverage is a good thing for any career.
It seems like a very realistic thing at this point, so hopefully this isn’t NBC/The Voice toying with fans…

It's Facebook so the comments section is destined to be a monstrosity. I swear the most miserable people are also the loudest.
The post from them definitely seems like a sign it’s happening. Do we know who the other 3 judges would be while she's on? How are the ratings?
Curious to see how this plays out for her as it seems most judges on this show seem to have pretty loud personalities. Curious to see how Carrie will mesh in that regard.

I’m just so worried about the gp dragging her. I always hate seeing all the unnecessary negative comments people post about her. It could be a good exposure for her though. I guess I just thought she would go the idol route if she ever chose to do it.

I definitely worry about how people will perceive her because all of us here at least know that she's very reserved and quiet which won't necessarily work very well on a show like The Voice.
Also, I don't foresee it happening however I still want to put it out there - I hope this doesn't interfere with her making music. Not that it always happens but I have found that some of the coaches who appear on the show put their music on the back burner while they are appearing (Christina Aguilera for example). But truthfully, I don't think that'll happen with Carrie.

The level of criticism she receives compared to many of the other stars on that’ve been judges on that show — Ariana, Miley, Camila, Gwen, John, Christina, etc. — is actually pretty minimal. I think CU is in a perpetually weird place because she’s easily one of the most universal non-EXCLUSIVELY-country stars of her genre, thus putting her on the radar of the gossip circuits and PopCrave Twitter, but she’s not the same as any of those aforementioned folks who are basically relegated to becoming absolute stan fodder 24/7.
But also, IDC, and I don’t think CU cares, either. Everyone absolutely trashed her when she took over for Faith Hill on SNF; now, she’s synonymous with all viewers as the kickstart to their favorite 3 hours of the week.

I truly hope The Voice rumor is not true. This show is long past being a true impact on the judges' musical success in my opinion.

Yeah i hope its not true either. I don’t want to have to start caring about the Voice. The show has been on for like, 11-12 years? And i’ve probably watched a grand total of about 9 or 10 episodes, mostly end of season ones.

I loved AI back in the day (and still watch it somewhat regularly) but I just never could get into The Voice. But I’d definitely watch it if Carrie is on there! lol

The concept of The Voice was brilliant to me but the show has always existed as a promo vehicle for the judges instead of the contestants and even that effect has pretty much worn off. As big of a star as Carrie already is, I don’t see a judging gig doing much for her excepting adding more zeros to her bank account (but I’d watch at least one season just to see how she does).

I wonder if her Sunday Night Football gig comes into play here. If she is looking to move into the talent show judge arena, maybe expanding her partnership with NBC makes the most sense. If not the Voice, then there's always the rumored return of the X-Factor on NBC (according to Simon Cowell). I still don't want her to do it, but I guess we'll see.

I definitely think her SNF gig with NBC is a huge part of why she’d be considered… I think a lot of the contractual hoops and loops become easier when a celebrity is already affiliated with a network. Also, to a point made earlier (not by you) about the overall impact of these shows. On the surface the ratings are nothing compared to “Idol” days, so obviously the exposure from the show on TV is limited. However, I think the potential career impacts of these shows stem more from social media and the potential for viral moments/clips. The show itself is only watched by a faithful few million, but the clips all over social media reach a lot more people. Whether it’s banter between the coaches, group performances, or GIFs of the coach’s reactions to the contestants, there’s a ton of profile-raising potential outside of the show’s TV viewership.

Just revisiting some old performances and I love how Carrie sounds on this one. She was in fine voice that night! So open and supported. Those three performances are among my all-time favorite Carrie live vocals. Also, I've always loved that bronde hair on her. It really warms her complexion and was/is cleaner and more modern than the brighter, brassier shades. But don't get me wrong -- I'm always into her icy Cry Pretty platinum.

My heart is heavy tonight. My Aunt Shirley's cancer has progressed into her lungs and the chemo isn’t helping. Doctors have told the family that she has up to 2 months left to live. We’re all heartbroken. Shirley just lost her son Timmy to cancer in October. My dad, her brother, fought pancreatic cancer. His treatments destroyed his immune system and made him susceptible to COVID, which took his life in 2021. This week, I've found myself going back to listen to "Temporary Home" quite often. Even though Carrie never sings it anymore, I'm thankful that she recorded it. It is a special song to me and my family for so many reasons.
