My heart is heavy tonight. My Aunt Shirley's cancer has progressed into her lungs and the chemo isn’t helping. Doctors have told the family that she has up to 2 months left to live. We’re all heartbroken. Shirley just lost her son Timmy to cancer in October. My dad, her brother, fought pancreatic cancer. His treatments destroyed his immune system and made him susceptible to COVID, which took his life in 2021. This week, I've found myself going back to listen to "Temporary Home" quite often. Even though Carrie never sings it anymore, I'm thankful that she recorded it. It is a special song to me and my family for so many reasons. I'm so sorry to hear what your aunt and your family has been going through. Sending all my love... Temporary Home was released around the time my aunt passed away from cancer back then. It has helped me through it too. I am glad it brings comfort to you and your family during this time.

Shall we move on to the #6 tracks?
1. Someday When I Stop Loving You (I still think this should have been a single!!! It should have been single #4 after CC, TT, and SLT)
2. Lessons Learned (I was addicted to this song for my whole sophomore year in college lol listened to it on repeat all the time)
3. Crazy Dreams (always loved this one) 4. Crazy Angels (I still think it’d be a good single and a better lead single than GS but it’s actually worn out a little for me)
5. That Song That We Used To Make Love To 6. Forever Changed 7. Choctaw County Affair (I’m ok with this one but definitely not as crazy about it as a lot of other fans are)
Edit: Whoops I had DA instead of That Song on here at first by mistake. Still same placement though lol

1. Someday When I Stop Loving You - I don't trust anyone who doesn't put this song in the top 2 of this list. Sorry not sorry.
2. That Song We Used to Make Love To - I kind of understand the hate for this one but I like it a lot.
3. Forever Changed - I don't listen to this often because it makes me sad.
4. Lessons Learned - Not the best song off her debut.
5. Crazy Dreams - Not the best song off of Carnival Ride either.
6. Crazy Angels - I don't really remember this song much if I'm being honest.
7. Choctaw County Affair - I've been very vocal about my dislike of this song. I won't beat a dead horse.
Overall, not my favorite set of songs from her. The top 2 are the only two that I go out of my way to listen to on a semi-regular basis.

6s are her weakest set yet, for sure.
1. Someday When I Stop Loving You 2. Lessons Learned 3. Crazy Dreams 4. Crazy Angels 5. Forever Changed 6. Choctaw County Affair 7. That Song… (top 5 worst songs in her catalog)

One thing that I find interesting about these songs is how different they all are. I love the first two, think the first four are great songs, and the last three are likely in the lower third of Carrie's catalog for me.
1. Choctaw County Affair - Likely in or just outside my top 10 non-singles from Carrie. This one is just so fun and I love when Carrie leans into the country sound. Watching her performances with the harmonica was fun. I hope she's more willing to record songs from a different batch of songwriters moving forward (pretty sure this one was written by a single songwriter who she never worked with before). Also, I'm very ready for some more story songs.
2. Lessons Learned - This was one of my favorites when I was a pre-teen (very weird to type). 2000s pop-country perfection. Her younger, huskier vocals. It's held up and I still play it pretty frequently.
3. Forever Changed - Carrie's delicate vocals on this one, the prominent piano, the story... all so simple and beautiful.
4. Someday When I Stop Loving You - Yes, I get this is a very good song, but I listen to the first three more. Excellent songwriting and vocal delivery. Definitely should have been a single over "Mama's Song"...
5. That Song We Used To Make Love To - This one is so divisive, and I get it. While I think the lyrics and production are kinda basic, I enjoy listening to how Carrie uses her voice differently on this song. I find she sounds really, really good here.
6. Crazy Dreams - I often forget this song exists. I enjoy the country instrumentation and how relevant it was to Carrie's story, but I just never cared for it that much.
7. Crazy Angels - A forgettable song to me that doesn't really have much to say. I hope she doesn't release this as a single over songs like "Burn" and "She Don't Know" (I'm thinking she won't, already having performed it live at the AMAs).

I just realized she has never had a track #6 as a single before. This is the first time that's happened.

That Song… (top 5 worst songs in her catalog) LMFAO, I looked at this set and thought it’s one of the stronger ones … goes to show how subjective this is, which is awesome. Her catalog is eclectic and sonically quite diverse, so I think it’s a testament to her art and how her “lane” is a combo of so many different things. 1: Choctaw County Affair 2: TSTWUTMLT 3: Lessons Learned 4: Crazy Dreams 5: Someday When I Stop Loving You 6: Crazy Angels 7: Forever Changed Four of these songs rank in my 20 most played, so needless to say this, for me, is a strong pack of songs!

Very difficult to separate, since the top five are all very strong.
1) Choctaw County Affair 2) Lessons Learned 3) Crazy Dreams 4) Someday When I Stop Loving You 5) Crazy Angels
(Ocean sized gap)
6) Forever Changed
(Huge gap)
7) That Song that may be her worst song of her entire catalog

Not that it matters, but I'm still surprised that this album did not have a Metacritic score. Miranda's latest album did and they're pretty on par when it comes to how well the albums sold (if that means anything).

If I remember correctly, her album wasn’t exactly reviewed by most publications. Label probably didn’t send out copies for review.

I sure hope they get it together for the next album rollout

The Tampa show was filmed. Doesn’t necessarily mean anything because a Cry Pretty tour stop was filmed and nothing came of that, but still worth noting.

Its my hope that somewhere down the road she will release a live album(hopefully a double) and include a live dvd compilation of both CP360 and D&R tours with it. Who knows maybe could even be some kind of box set. I’d shell out whatever $ it would cost for that!

Seeing Mike Elizondo win a Grammy reminds me of how badly I need her to work with him again. Gave us “Cowboy Casanova” AND “Chaser” like the Good Samaritan he is.
