Do you think she'd do a duets album? I feel like I remember someone saying something about a "My Heroes" album a while back...a duets album with artists she admires (or who admire her?) That'd be kinda neat. Sounds like pure hopeful speculation from fans as it aligned with the My Gift/My Savior names for side projects.

I’m not expecting a new album until fall of 2025. Possibly later if the Cody duet isn’t his next single, and there is another single in between that one and the duet.

A new album would definitely come by 2025 at the latest. She's never gone more than three years without an album before. I miss the days of her releasing a standard album every two years though.

I know many people rag on her UMG music, but I revisited the Cry Pretty album last night, and man. I get not liking it because it's not the style of music you want from Carrie, but the quality is there IMO. I’d probably rank it in her top 3 along with Storyteller and likely Some Hearts. For me:
Cry Pretty Ghosts on the Stereo Low Backsliding Drinking Alone The Bullet Spinning Bottles End Up With You Kingdom
😮💨
While Ive shared I’d love for Carrie to lean into country more on her next album, I find Cry Pretty to be the far superior experimental effort over the standard edition of D&R.

Yeah, Carrie has always had a least a few songs w/ singles for radio quality. What I would have done with Cry Pretty is release Ghost on the Stereo (one of my favorite Carrie songs, period!) and Cry Pretty together, with Ghosts being the first single. Maybe a little safe, but it would have been interesting to see people's reactions to it.

It’s been my alarm sound for over 2 years now, which says so, so much. While it wasn’t an immediate favorite of mine, it grew on me in a major way over the years. She absolutely nails the delivery. And then there’s “Low” 🥹🤌

Funny that you mention revisiting Cry Pretty. I too am revisiting Carrie’s catalog. CP is a slept-on album. It really deserves a lot more love and attention than it gets from fans. I still think it is the most personal Carrie has ever gotten on an album. I’m not personally huge on “Ghosts on the Stereo”, but I know it’s a fan favorite and I do enjoy it more as I get older. I know people hate on “Love Wins”, but I think it was brave of Carrie to take a stand and release this to radio despite the repercussions it had for her radio success long-term.
I'd personally rank her albums:
1) Some Hearts - nostalgia bias plays a role here admittedly. There are objectively better albums in her catalog at this point, but I have such fond memories growing up with these songs that I think it will be hard for her to top this. I would love an album from her that is fully in the vein of songs like “Some Hearts”, “I Just Can’t Live a Lie”, “That’s Where It is”, that poppier side of hers that we haven’t really seen for several years. Alternatively, I don’t think this has ever been discussed, but if she were to pull a Taylor Swift and re-record one of her albums, I think this would have to be the only real option. Maybe for the 20th anniversary?
2) Cry Pretty - as we're discussing.
3) Blown Away - the highs of this album are undeniable, with this album’s first five songs being her strongest run of songs on an album ever. “Wine After Whiskey”, “Good in Goodbye”, “Forever Changed”, and “One Way Ticket” are also up there in the quality department. The rest of the album admittedly brings the whole thing down a notch though and this does flip flop with my #4 depending on the day.
4) Storyteller – this is the most personal pet peeve ever, but my OCD really does not like that this album is technically only one word while the rest of her albums are two words LOL. Anyway, this album has really grown on me as of late. I still have a really hard time with “Choctaw County Affair” but I think I’ve resigned myself to the fact that I will always be in the minority of fans who dislike that song and wish it never existed. Having said that, every other song on this album is at least an 8/10 and this album probably wins for her most consistent effort to date.
5) Play On – putting this above #6 is something that many people might find blasphemous. Including myself once upon a time. “Cowboy Casanova”, “Quitter”, “Undo It”, “Someday When I Stop Loving You”, “Temporary Home”, “This Time” (which doesn’t get talked about enough tbh), “Look at Me”, and “What Can I Say” are all 10/10 songs. And with the possible exception of “Change”, the remaining tracks really aren’t that bad.
6) Carnival Ride – Okay, I still enjoy this album, but I do think it is the album of hers that has aged the poorest for me. Maybe I overplayed it, and there are certainly some gems on here. “Flat on the Floor”, “All-American Girl”, “So Small”, “Just a Dream”, “Get Out of This Town”, “You Won’t Find This”, and “I Told You So” are all 10/10 songs. It’s…the songs I didn’t name that are dragging this album down.
7) Denim & Rhinestones – I still really don’t have much of a use for this album outside of the deluxe tracks tbh. “Velvet Heartbreak”, “Burn”, “Faster”, “Poor Everybody Else”, and “She Don’t Know” are about it from me from the standard edition. (Though quite frankly, none of these songs come close to Carnival Ride levels.) If you add in the deluxe edition, I do enjoy “Out of That Truck”, “Give Her That”, “Drunk and Hungover”, and “Damage” and overall think the deluxe edition tracks are stronger than the standard edition. But even the deluxe edition is not enough to bring this album out of last place for me.

CP is my 2nd favorite album after MG. It’s so underrated & under appreciated. It’s the only album I listened to all the way once & had to buy. Her insane vocals gave me chills, she didn’t hold back at all. It’s so intense & intimate (low, cp, backsliding) yet fun & a blast to always listen to (southbound, euwy). Personally didn’t find any songs controversial based off lyrics alone & I know this isn’t a popular song among her fanbase but the champion is so motivational. Her voice really was made for every genre.

I think for me it goes
1) Storyteller -Her most cohesive/tightest album of her catalog outside of the passion projects. Not a single filler track imo. The weakest link (CDS still has production that makes it an interesting listen.) 2) Carnival Ride -Another cohesive attempt from Carrie. Like Storyteller, I don't think there's a skip on this album for me. All the correct singles were chosen here. 3) Blown Away -I echo that the first 5 song punch of this album are some of the best in her entire catalog, add WAW and GIG, some of the lows, are the lowest of her career though imo. (CGAS & LLA.) 4) Some Hearts -I was like 7 when this album came out, so that might be why I have other's higher, as I remember actually remember them as they happened. Album is extremely tight though, and makes sense why it's one of the best selling of the 2000s.
5) Play On -I feel like there's an unnecessary hate train for Play On. While there are some sleepers, there are some career highs (CC, TH, SWISLY, WCIS.) Love the mix of country twang/pop on this album. Love the title track too. 6) D&R -Honestly feel like the album is half cooked. I feel like if you remove some of the more boring songs from the album (HMH,GS,Faster,WW,D&R) and replaced them with 4 bonified smashes like BA had, I think many would argue this is one of her best albums.
7) Cry Pretty -Honestly this one never clicked with me. I guess from my rankings I'm seeing that I usually like her more country/twangy stuff, and this album feels like it's the most pop she has ever leaned with a record. I agree there are some great songs on there, but I just don't return often, outside of maybe GOTS, which imo should've been a single. I do think that (GOTS,Low,Backsliding,DA,TB, and SB) are good songs though.

Carrie never performing "Low" with Chris Stapleton during that album cycle was such a missed opportunity. I love the solo version, but they would have killed it as a duet and performing it with him on the CMAs or wherever would have been a real moment and would have brought the song and album a lot of attention. Oh well.
My rankings: 1. Blown Away 2. Cry Pretty 3. Some Hearts 4. Storyteller 5. Carnival Ride 6. Denim & Rhisetones 7. Play On

Random question. Have Justin Timberlake and Carrie always followed each other on instagram or is this new? He has a new album coming out. Another new collab perhaps? Could you imagine if she has Cody Johnson’s duet, a possible Post Malone collab, And a potential Justin Timberlake duet this year? That would be insane!

Kacey just released a new song. That’s the aesthetic and visual i wish Carrie would approach next era. I like her glamorous look and image, but i would love to see a more simple, down to earth image. Something like My Savior for the next era please.

Ughhh I do hope they’re gearing up for a big 2025… I still hold out hope for the Super Bowl, and her 20 year anniversary would be the perfect time for it. Kicking off an album/tour that way would really do wonders for creating momentum.
Obviously there are artists with much bigger names on the list, so if the Super Bowl is out of the cards, I do at least hope for a big 2025 to mark 20 years, the promo writes itself.

It just feels like things have been phoned in. I also think waiting 3-4 years between albums is just too long in today’s world. Really hope she’s doing something music related behind the scenes because it just seems blah right now.

Really hope she’s doing something music related behind the scenes because it just seems blah right now. That describes the entire era tbh. I kinda feel like the album was just kind of thrown together quickly so she could go on a tour. Whether that be because she was contractually obligated to or because she just felt like touring, but she just hasn't felt invested in it at all. Girlie was literally posting vegetables on album release day. I feel like after tour ended, the only excitement from this era vanished. I mean, I do find it extremely concerning that the deluxe edition of the album didn't even re-enter that top 25 on the country albums chart, and Megan Moroney's deluxe that was released the same day, with only 3 new tracks, did. Really she should've waited a few months if she didn't have enough strong songs for singles, because it is a true shame that some of the deluxe songs aren't going to be singles.

She has had the career 98% of other artists only dream of. It has been almost 20 years, it was very natural/expected for her to be in a "legacy" phase now, as almost every artist that hits year 20 goes into. She will be remembered alongside Reba, Shania, Dolly, etc. - the real true legends of Country Music/music in general, but her reclaiming the throne or winning awards again is not going to happen - so the quicker fans just relax and enjoy her concerts, garden pics, and new music when it comes, the better.
This album I actually really enjoyed more than Cry Pretty, but she needs a new producer.

What awards are we talking about? Because she just recently won her 8th Grammy for My Savior and an ACM Single of the Year Award for “If I Didn’t Love You.” I can see the Cody Johnson duet getting attention at the award shows, as well. He’s described it as “trajectory changing” in interviews.
Stuff like FVOTY is probably out of contention, but I’m pretty sure she still has more Grammys to win.
Anyway listening to DRUNK & HUNGOVER rn. Kind of the sexiest song in her catalogue when you really think about it!

Sorry - I should have been more descriptive, I mean the Entertainer of the Year the threads keep trying to pretend is going to happen, and Female Vocalist. I agree she has more Grammys coming.

Wonder what the chances are Codywood’s single is coming fairly soon. The Painter is currently peaking, who knows what is gonna happen with OOTT and yes sadly D&H will never see the light of day to the general public. I know the talk is he may do another single first before theirs gets released…but he keeps talking about the timing… and it seems to me that the timing is lining up now for them to release it next. Because if they don’t, the earliest it would is probably like october or november. Which would likely push this deluxe edition to probably early next year. I hope we don’t have to wait that long but i guess we will see.

I think he's releasing the fan favorite "Dirt Cheap" as the next single from his current album, as it's already been receiving enough unsolicited airplay to chart in the top 60 on BB. Probably will come sometime after that. Maybe Q4 this year or Q1 next year, but I'm 99% sure it won't be next. As for Carrie. I think (and hope) they are just going to push OOTT until the wheel fall off and get it as high as possible. I'm curious if she will release GH #2 this year too, which might produce a single.

I assume Cody will release "Dirt Cheap" next, which should be a fast riser. Hopefully, UMG will continue to support OOTT until it peaks, probably around when "Dirt Cheap" peaks if his song blows up like I'm anticipating. Then they can release the duet coming off a career song for Cody : )

Things have just been sooooo quiet on her front. A tiny, tiny part of me thinks she has some involvement with the upcoming Bey project. I mean, there’s been not so much as a peep about Vegas promo, any further upcoming festival gigs, the Cody Johnson duet, the rumored Post Malone collab (looks like he just teased something with Luke Combs)… It’s been quieter than it ever has been between eras in the past. I just have this hunch that something is coming. (Can also 100% call me delulu.)
