Kinda annoyed with Amazon. I used points to order the new album a few weeks ago and a few days ago, I got an update saying it would arrive on the 22nd. Of course, yesterday if I ordered the CD, it said it would arrive on release day instead, so I cancelled the original order and paid money just so I can get it Friday. I am a little nervous that she is saying this will be her fun album though. My favorite Carrie is dramatic or sad. She excels at ballads. Anyone can make a hokey song like Southbound. I don't want an album where songs like that and D&R are the norm and Ghost Story is the exception, but I think that is exactly what we are getting.

I think there will be a nice mix. From the descriptions alone, “Burn,” “Faster,” and “Garden” sound more emotional. “Hate My Heart” is a rocker, but I think it will address a breakup, so it should fit nicely alongside GS.
But, yeah, overall this album will probably be lighter because she’s coming off Cry Pretty and My Gift / My Savior.

From the clips, it's a lot less pop than I was expecting given the title track but I can't wait to hear the songs in full!

Okay, so my grandmother passed away Sunday…. Literally my favorite person on this planet, and as unexpected as an 81 year-old passing can be. Listening to the clips was a nice distraction from the insanity going on in my family’s world right now. I haven’t been able to be as excited or anxious for this album as usual, but I can’t wait for the show tomorrow and the album Friday! The clips sound so promising, and the entire thing overall is surprisingly country. I like it! I was more or less expecting an extension of the CP sound, which I loved, but am also down for an album of Carrie’s signature sounds on some classic-sounding country songs. There’s definitely her typical pop flare, but there’s some VERY country tracks on this record, I think it’ll do really well at radio.

But one of my favorite things about buying the newest album from one of my favorite artists is going to get the cd and going for a drive for the first listen of it. I took fri off specifically to do this. And to just be able to celebrate the album the entire day.
Im so torn right now…
I never had this dilemma with my gift or my savior. But i knew those were different kind of albums for her, like side projects. This one though, her first full length country album in 4 years…it just feels more special. Not that MG and MS aren’t, but its a big deal when she releases a new country album. Maybe im just being weird, but i cant help it, its how i feel lol

Burn, Faster, Wanted Woman, Garden sound promising.
Judging by the clips, this is the first time in her career that she has album that every songs flows, feel like those songs belong in one album. Her previous ones tend to sound like many great different songs put together into one album
