I'll admit 'Storyteller' isn't among my favorites by Carrie but "Choctaw County Affair" is top tier. I don't know who else would be able to pull off a song like that but Carrie does it justice.

Can’t stop listening to BURN.
My one critique - I wish the first verse was more developed with the campfire scenery. Because I feel like the beach scenery is way more pronounced in the 2nd verse.

Please let this be an in-studio interview + performance. I hope so too but i fear that she is not there and this is a pre recorded performance. I feel like if she was there we would have already seen IG stories that she is in NYC. But i see nothing as of right now. Also, it seems like when she is on its usually her and whatever lead guest is on, and then they always chat for a few minutes. And likely play a game. But tonights episode gives a feel that there is no time for that because there is already 2 other guests. Still excited for tonight and hopefully im wrong but i feel like this is how it will be tonight.

So, is this considered a flop? No. Hard no. I have not been the biggest Carrie fan the last couple years but my goodness the reactions to her sales are making me sad. She made an album that her fans adore. She has given interviews and is doing some shows. She is not the hot new thing anymore and will most likely never cross over to pop (that ship has long sailed) but she is in such a better place than pretty much everyone else in the music industry. She has a tour and residency that is massively impressive. She is well on her way (hell, she may even be there already) to being an icon in country music (I'm talking in the same name as Reba, Shania, etc). She has legions of fan around the world. She made an album you love. That is so much better than making an album that you don't like but it selling 200K. I don't know if it's because she won Idol that her stans put all this pressure on charts and #'s and awards, but Carrie has done it all. Her selling 40K this week or 100K really isn't going to change much. Enjoy the music. Enjoy that you ENJOY the music. Enjoy her promoting and touring and signing songs you love. Don't worry about sales or EOY or her winning meaningless fan voted awards. Enjoy Carrie for all that she has given you because you hit the jackpot in terms of artists you can be a fan of.

I find it impossible to believe songs like “Pink Champagne”, “Velvet Heartbreak”, and “Faster” won’t get this album to Gold, or even Platinum. Might take a while, but if Carrie can score a steaming hit or two, which I really think she can with this album, then I think this will be yet another long-distance runner in Carrie’s catalog. Who knows what they have planned? This could be a multi-year era for all we know; maybe they intend to go five or six singles in with this one? I doubt it, but who knows? They certainly could!
I think it’s far too early to be bummed about the sales, especially when they’re fairly consistent with the standard. Streaming is where it’s at, and with a solid hit or two, this album could really change things for Carrie in that regard. These songs are quality ear-worms from the first track to the last, I have to believe there’s a career-hit or two in this bunch! It’s just way too fucking good.

So, is this considered a flop? I would say no. The sales are trash, but that’s happening across the board, unless you’re BTS or Adele, but even then, they aren’t pulling in numbers that they used to either. I spent about 10 minutes freaking out about sales and then realized that Carrie is at that point in her career where sales don’t matter much. She is just going to put out what she wants and us hardcore fans will love it regardless. The reviews have been quite good and she should do well with radio IF her team picks the right singles.

These part in Pink Champange - ‘ One more round of you won't hurt me.. I need you right now in a hurry.. Cause your love gets me more buzzed than pink champagne’ is so addictive.

Ok so I was just looking at the tour ticket packages again (Crazy Angels, Ghost Story, Velvet Heartbreak, Burn), and it just seems too random for these not to the 4 singles!

I still don't understand why this album doesn't have a Metacritic score. Even her contemporaries had them for their latest albums. Reviews don't matter in the grand scheme of things but it still doesn't make sense that she doesn't have a score for the album.

Anyone else feel like this album is in the same vein as Storyteller? I just love it, such a slow burn.

Anyone else feel like this album is in the same vein as Storyteller? I just love it, such a slow burn. I find Storyteller to be more country than this. “She Don’t Know” would have fit perfectly on ST, and it’s one of my faves from D&R. I think ST remains my favorite Carrie album as I think it has higher highs (CB >>>) Yet, it also has lower lows. D&R might be Carrie’s most consistent album. I’d kill for an album full of songs in the vein of SDK.

I hear/feel everything but “Blown Away” on this album. If I had to take each track and assign them to albums they’d fit on, I think I’d find a home for each song across all her albums except BA.
If I had to pick an album I think this is closest to, I would actually vote “Some Hearts” in so far as the album type; Country-Pop ear-worms with Carrie’s typical Rock influences scattered throughout. Sonically, I hear a lot of “Cry Pretty” and “Storyteller”, with “Carnival Ride” influences as well.
One of the reviews hit it on the head, this album is a culmination of Carrie’s discography. It’s a nostalgic mix of all our favorite sounds infused with dance elements.

I think PEE has TikTok potential. Like I can envision influencers strutting to the hook.
I have a feeling she’s saving it for an award show debut too.

It really is a culmination of all her previous albums for sure!

It’s official. Denim & Rhinestones is projected to debut at #8 all-genre and #2 on Country albums. This is her lowest peaking entry on the all-genre albums chart and her streak of #1 country albums has been broken at 9. I honestly think that she could’ve had a good shot at the country #1 had the stores been better stocked with physical albums. I’m just hoping that this album resonates with other people as much as it has with us Carrie fans.

It’s flabbergasting that this is opening lower than a Christmas album in September of COVID.
