Yeah I really hope she takes advantage of this build up of momentum between the Cody duet, as well as judging on Idol, to swiftly go into her next era around the finale. Hopefully, premiering the lead sometime on the show.

It would certainly get her out there more and build back some momentum. She had momentum after “If I Didn’t Love You” but then killed it by releasing “Ghost Story” as the lead single. I’d really love to have a lead Carrie single by 2025 sometime. I would also love to see her return to that Storyteller type sound and look as the last two albums haven’t really clicked as well as the Storyteller era.

Streaming has always been the Achilles heel of Carrie’s team. I also stand on the fact that Carrie has heavily chosen family life over promoting her career in recent years, which is totally fine.
With this said, I’m excited about her next era. Here’s to hoping it comes with Storyteller vibes. I can see it now… Storyteller but this time it’s her personal story. “My Story” could be the name???

I love Carrie and this video looks beautiful. But what is going on with her lips in that first scene of her? I can feel Grammy #9 approaching!!

Streaming carries far too much weight for success of songs. And its a young person’s game, its really not fair. Older artists will always struggle against the newer ones for the most part. I have apple music but i don’t really stream a whole lot. Too many people like myself who are stuck in our old ways lol

Pick better singles and the fans will follow suit. GS and HMH are among the bottom of the barrel from D&R. Her team was very much behind these, especially GS. Do have a gripe about how her team handled OOTT though, which actually did connect with fans (has almost as many streams and GS and HMH combined.)

For one… a music video would have been great for OOTT. Television appearances would have been great for promo. Carrie seemed content with the singles chosen, being at home, and becoming a gardener. Her team seemed content to let her have her way. At the end of the day, she’s at legend status and anything else she does from here on out is icing on the cake.

GS was so meh, it through off the whole album era for me.* *Please bear in mind that I'm pretty picky when it comes to music nowadays, and I've become more of an album fan than a singles fan. 🙂

As a long-time "Ghost Story" enthusiast (It's one of my favorites on the album), "Burn" or "Out of that Truck" (which didn't even make the standard album) should have been the lead.
I would have been fine with "Ghost Story" remaining an album track or being a final single.

I Hope everything goes well for Cody's and Carrie's duet that comes out next Friday.

It’s been seeking vengeance from the grave (streaming wise) even after being pulled from radio in April. It’s the definition of steady.

I Hope everything goes well for Cody's and Carrie's duet that comes out next Friday. Honestly… it has hit written all over it. With the general public’s interest in country music, I would put money on the song charting high on Billboard Hot 100 too. Let’s watch the magic unfold in a week!

I think it's a very well-written and produced track, and it has more of a creative approach as a "revenge" track. I can relate to it, and it's very vibey. It's different and interesting, and I think that's why Carrie led with it. I'm still not tired of it to this day. I think it made sense as a lead single, actually, but it needed a better follow-up. But I agree that "Burn" and "Out of that Truck" (if given video treatment) are great choices.

Now THAT’S a duet. You can hear both voices crystal clear, and the harmonies are heartwarming. Hit for country and a solid entry for all-genre!

This is going to be Carrie’s biggest song in years, if that 18 seconds is any indication at all. Her voice blends with Cody’s perfectly. Friday can’t come fast enough!!

When “I’m Gonna Love You” begins charting, does anybody post the chart updates here? Also, does anybody watch the charts daily that would post here? Just curious.

She looks so good in the clip! At least even if her actual album eras have been disappointing recently, she is still SERVING with these high profile in between album duets.
I love if somehow this can get a top 20 debut on the hot 100, to add to her tally.

Under the Country forum there are specific threads for singles, and I believe there is a thread specific to chart tracking. There are rules here about posting daily chart updates, but more or less there is always discussion and updates regarding chart performance for singles. If I knew how to link the threads, I would.

Friday can’t come soon enough! Also, one thought that comes to my mind is the difference between Cody’s team and Carrie’s team. Cody’s team is releasing the music video on the same day of the song’s release in addition to sending the song to radio on the same day too! Carrie’s team has seemed to wait before releasing a music video and then they usually take a week before sending the song to radio. I don’t know if it’s always been like that, but here recently it’s been that way.

Are we allowed to post a link to the new "Carriefans" on this site? We made one for people who want to visit there as well. I'm not sure about the rules so i thought I would ask before posting.

I would have been fine with "Ghost Story" remaining an album track or being a final single. ''Ghost Story'' is a Carrie Underwood song and Carrie is well-known enough to be used in a phrase like ''That sounds like a Carrie Underwood song'' And ''Ghost Story'' is that song Although the chart performance is not ideal(I believe it can easily top the chart if released in Carrie's heyday) I think it is very easy to understand why they chose it as a lead single I agree that if choosing ''Out of That Truck'' things could be better and at the time when D&R released,it is almost risky to play it safe.

I agree with most of this! “Ghost Story” just sounds like a quintessential Carrie song, which is probably why I love it so much. I’d assume it would have been a decent-sized hit if released pre-Cry Pretty era. It hasn't burned on me at all and I still enjoy it a lot, regardless of its performance as a single.
