I’m surprised Envolver is doing better than Mamiii. Well being out for four months and actually having a music video helps (seriously, what's taking so long for the MAMIII music video to drop)

I’m surprised Envolver is doing better than Mamiii. Envolver has 4.1 million streams coming from Brasil alone, Anitta's home country. I know it's a huge market but those streams are krazy!

One other song the US could give a go to is Starlight but that doesn't seem like a hit that would crossover into America.

Nicki Minaj dropped a surprise new single called “We Go Up” (Feat. Five Foreign) that’s now #1 on iTunes! Waiting for it to be available on streaming.
(Hope i don’t get another warning by the mods for ‘baiting Nicki Minaj fans to argue.’)

Starlight is going to have more of a Dance Monkey trajectory. This song is going to get many weeks at #1 in the home country before crossing over here.

I don't think it'll even crossover here.

At this point, it is more of a surprise if Nicki doesn’t drop than if she does.

But it needs to be mentioned now so next week when she gets trashed and mocked for not debuting at #1, that it was in fact a surprise non promoted single.

Could this be the smash hit we're all hoping for in these dire chart times???

Another horrid song from Minaj. Unsurprising to say the least.

The Anitta song is having an OTR dominance in Brazil where 75% are originating. I could see it crossing over but I'm not sure it will just yet.
Unless Bieber needs another #1 hit he doesn't even understand. Envolver (Burrito Dorito remix) is coming?

All this discussion on Anitta had me thinking it was dominating the U.S streaming charts, so I went to check and I seen it only at #98 on Spotify. I’m just not sure why we are discussing it to such great lengths on this weeks Hot 100 chart thread. Will it even debut on the Hot 100 next week?
There’s at least 3 major things happening on this weeks chart that we can be discussing at this point.

Would be so funny if Envolver does end up blowing up here since the post about an artist being on the verge of blowing up and the post about it being #1 on Global spotify were back to back lol Since making the post that I highlighted here, I’ve realized that, funnily enough, Anitta has been trying to become a thing in the US market over the past couple of years. Not only did she have that Cardi B/Myke Towers collab in 2020 that managed to debut very low on the Hot 100, but she’s also been trying to break through on pop radio with English-language songs like Girl From Rio, Faking Love, and Boys Don’t Cry, the last of which has been the only one not to feature a rap verse from another artist.

I wonder if MGK is gonna be able to get a lasting hit from Mainstream Sellout. iirc My Ex's Best Friend had traction before Tickets To My Downfall came out but it didn't really become the massive hit it was until after the album's release. I could see that happening with this album too, possible with Maybe? Would be cool for Bring Me The Horizon to get a chart hit

(It will spend so many weeks in the 40-50 range, Billboard will finally have enough and strengthen the recurrent rules.)

I hope that this remix is built as a genuine Big Energy/Fantasy mashup and not just Mariah Carey tacking on a random new verse for the sake of getting another #1.

Sorry for double posting, but 20x #1 coming... the Monday release is still peculiar OMG. I knew this would happen😍. But not the 20th number 1 thing. 29th top 10 would be possible. If Big energy will go top 10,this is the second time since Cold heart sample a song from the same artist.

I was just going to write that there no superstars on the Hot 100 anymore like the 80's, 90's or early 2000's.

I can name at least 25 people that debuted after Rihanna that were a huge deal and most of them still are.
For example Billie Eilish only has a #1 but she's a huge deal. Lil Nas X, Doja Cat, Dua Lipa, BTS, Megan Thee Stallion, Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, The Weeknd...

Taylor Swift and Drake would be considered after Rihanna. Adele might be for Honorable mention.

Lil Nas X, Doja Cat, Dua Lipa, BTS, Megan Thee Stallion, Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, The Weeknd... While true, there just seems to be something lacking. I think part of the problem, is we are so close to today's stars, connected via social media, knowing everyone's move. Back in the day that bit of unknown, etc. just made it seem like stars were bigger than.
