Why are we assuming those songs would have the same point totals now that they did when they debuted?

This brings back memories of how Telepatia actually was a streaming hit before it got really big on radio later on in its chart run.

It’s at 171 on AM. We just have to hope the versions combined get more numbers or else its not moving that high, and Mariah wouldn’t get credited either way.

Quite odd and a wasted opportunity. Whatever the case though , Mariah remains a goddess in my humble opinion

Not sure what anyone gained from the mid-week release - won't boost BE to #1, MC won't be credited. It's not like they had to rush it out. They could've waited until Friday to get a full tracking week - though based on Day 1, that wouldn't have mattered. I don't think even a surprise Granny appearance or video will move the needle on this.

Idc imma say it. If Harrys single has good reception by the GP, it’s debuting at 1. It’s not like Adore You debuted low and worked it’s way up lol. If this can’t do it, Heat Waves and Stay will just monopolize number one until August lol

Is he moving away from pop? If it’s in the same vein as Adore you, then he’ll be alright I feel but if it’s nowhere close that’s a different discussion lol

Why would they release on a Monday? Apparently there was a clearance issue, though really the Monday debut should have helped it debut high since it should have been able to get individual attention.

I mean, we have examples of artists with massive eras following it up with an instant #1, and other examples of artists with massive eras following it up with a flop. Harry could pull a Weeknd or he could pull an Bieber. I think a case can be made for and against either scenario from happening and rather than trying to convince everyone that it will 100% be one or the other, why don't we all just place our bets and then wait and see what actually does happen once the song drops and the numbers start rolling in. But why are we assuming that Justin himself could pull a Bieber? Remember, that, aside from Peaches, most of the Justice singles performed pretty poorly and Stay didn't debut at #1. What I think truly matters is less the name recognition of the artist's and more how well the songs actually stick with people. Sweetest Pie won't be the YE #1 not because Dua isn't relevant, but because the song was bad. That is also why Sacrifice was an underperformance - it didn't connect with people the way at least three other songs did during the album drop week. People need to genuinely like a song for it to be a smash with big longevity Um, no, that's just factually inaccurate. I'm by no means a Justin stan, and yes his singles didn't and definitely aren't assured to all debut at #1 and I don't necessarily care too much whether they do or not, but you cannot just ignore Ghost and Holy and say they weren't big top 10 hits, as well as Lonely and Anyone being pretty solid top 40s. And just because Stay didn't "debut at no. 1" we should completely disregard that it's one of the longest-running top 10's of all time and will undoubtedly boost his charting power? I've just seen it time and time again these last couple years, the way some people say he somehow still doesn't have a hugely-successful charting presence is really an alternative facts-level type of denial.

Which obviously didn't help too much, thus it wouldn't have mattered whether it was released on a Friday or a Monday. To me the remix didn't quite work and Mariah's vocals are really getting lackluster. Unfortunately this has firmly delineated her status even further as a legacy artist rather than a current artist. She will go #1 every December with AIWFCIS, but people just don't care about her current stuff.

I didn't realize that was a thought that was out there. I never expected the "BE" remix to do much of anything. I frankly see it as one of many confirmations of her legacy. Being on this remix keeps her name out there for people, and more so it could introduce younger folks to "Fantasy." "Fantasy" has had a bit of a resurgence over the last 1-2 years due to Free Guy, TikTok, and now "Big Energy." Her catalog of hits runs deep, and it's no coincidence she is the 80s/90s diva with the most songs over 100 million Spotify streams, etc.

It's just that she often tries to be a current artist with a lot of these tracks she puts out, which there's nothing really wrong with, but it's just that this puts expectations very high, and many here were speculating this would rocket into the top ten or even become her 20th #1.

It doesn't help that social media stan accounts exaggerate or fully make stuff up to get everyone excited... for clicks I guess? These kids(?) can post literally anything, and hundreds of people will retweet it as fact, and then when none of it comes true, it's Billboard the saboteur who can't math. Then there's the overzealous stans who are entirely consumed with charts and, in Mariah's case, that elusive 20th #1. Anything she releases is absolutely going to be that song without even hearing it or giving it a day to get numbers. And it just goes on and on. Every time. It's really something.

From the looks of it so far, where is “Soy El Único” predicted to debut? Twitter predictors usually post their predictions on Saturday, but my guess is top 30, not sure about the top 20. Great streaming, decent sales and 0 airplay.

are the Big Energy remix’s streams counted separately from the original on Spotify, or are they merged?

I think Harry could very likely debut at #1 if the single is good. It’s all about timing, hype and momentum. He’s been gone long enough to have baked in curious listens, and he ended his last era on a high note as “Watermelon Sugar” was a gigantic smash that was well received. I honestly didn’t care for most of the singles on his last album. But WS was absolute pop perfection and I’m curious to see if he can come with something just as good.

Did/does anyone consider Mariah a "current" artist? I didn't realize that was a thought that was out there. I never expected the "BE" remix to do much of anything. I frankly see it as one of many confirmations of her legacy. Being on this remix keeps her name out there for people, and more so it could introduce younger folks to "Fantasy." "Fantasy" has had a bit of a resurgence over the last 1-2 years due to Free Guy, TikTok, and now "Big Energy." Her catalog of hits runs deep, and it's no coincidence she is the 80s/90s diva with the most songs over 100 million Spotify streams, etc. Her legacy is undeniable, I'm a huge fan of hers as well. It's just that she often tries to be a current artist with a lot of these tracks she puts out, which there's nothing really wrong with, but it's just that this puts expectations very high, and many here were speculating this would rocket into the top ten or even become her 20th #1. I agree. Although with the current situation in pop music, and streaming data suggesting people are getting more and more interested in listening to past music rather than new hits songs, perhaps some of the old pop stars could have unexpected success by acting like current artists. In the UK last year they had hit songs by Nightcrawlers, Elton John, ATB, Boney M, Colin Hay, Tiesto (who's kind of had hits every few years the whole time, but still), now they have one by Ashanti. And I think having an artist on a song who peaked in a previous era helps with the algorithms, as the people who are listening most to 00's R&B will eventually have the new song with Ashanti credited come up in an AI-compiled playlist, or it will come up on autoplay at some point. And likewise the people who listen to a lot of 90's dance music would have been fed the new songs with Nightcrawlers and ATB credited by the algorithms. And the UK also has 7 old songs in their Spotify top 50 today (Frank Ocean, The Killers, Dave/Fredo, Tom Odell, Arctic Monkeys, Pharrell, Foo Fighters). They're near the bottom, but that's a LOT, something we wouldn't have seen 5 years ago, and they're all for different reasons (it's not just a one-off thing after an award show ceremony, this is becoming the new normal now).

505 by Arctic Monkeys up to #18 Spotify. Is this the highest it has been?

are the Big Energy remix’s streams counted separately from the original on Spotify, or are they merged? If they were merged, we should have seen a big boost
