The way Ronnie sings My MariEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEaaa is so obnoxious to my ears that any hope I might have of liking the song otherwise is nonexistent. Sorry to its fans but it isn’t my cup of tea.

31. “The Beaches of Cheyenne” - Garth Brooks 25. “My Maria” - Brooks & Dunn Me and LBTrocks : Ditto what Flops already said about "My Maria," too. That big falsetto note in the chorus is just not it. That + the egregious overplay as one of their go-to recurrents has rendered the song almost unlistenable to me.

Well, I suppose I've kept y'all waiting long enough. Without further ado, here are the final two songs to miss the top 20!

Stats for #22:
The second to last song to exit the before the top 20 was in fact a contender for the majority of its run. That is until the last quarter of the rankdown as it picked up a pair of bottom 2 rankings.

Lol what a random song to attain TWO bottom 2 ranks!
"No News" is meh. Not one of Lonestar's best imo.

"No News" was released in January 1996 as the second single from Lonestar's self-titled debut album and reached the top of the country chart that spring. It was also one of the ten most played songs of the year. Given all of the previous chatter, it shouldn't come as a surprise then that this clocked in as our fourth most polarizing song. That wouldn't have been the case of course if not for the pair of lone bottom 2 rankings from bboat11 and 🌺CountryLineDancer as they were in fact the only two participants to rank this out of the top 65 altogether. Ten participants in all placed this somewhere within their top 50 with all but one of those actually being top 25s. While that early support bumped this up into the runners-up position, that would be its only top 5 showing for the remainder of the rankdown. That said, this still was a steady top 20 contender for much of its run up until the last quarter. Luckily, LBTrocks came in at the very end with a third top 10 ranking which bumped this back up into the top 25. Unfortunately bigd79 loses his #2 song just after also having departed with his #1.

The last song to exit before the top 20 also just happened to be an early #2 contender. Despite a small dip outside of the top 30, it would remain in the top 25 for the duration of the rankdown.

"Ten Thousand Angels" was released in February 1996 as the first single from Mindy McCready's debut album of the same name and was a Top 10 hit for her that spring. This picked up two of its four top 10 rankings early on from both myself and gardyfan which was good enough to bump this up into the runners-up spot. That would be short-lived, however, as nathanalbright would immediately follow that up with a bottom 2 ranking which bumped this all the way back outside of the top 30. Despite that, this would eventually find its way back into the fold where it remained inside the top 25 for the duration of the rankdown. Two additional top 10s also followed from toomuchboy and bigd79 with a handful of others also ranking this inside their top 30.

This is a strong top 20. Only songs left I don't really care for and definitely want out asap are "I Think About You" and "Time Marches On." Everything else is a bop tho.

That's all for tonight, folks! I'm not quite sure yet if I'll be able to able to have this wrapped up before the weekend is over, but we are inching closer and closer towards the finale which at the very latest will come by the beginning of next week. Until then, I hope everyone has a great start to their weekend!

for me the only song that I really feel has overstayed is "No One Needs To Know" so hopefully that misses the Top 15 as the other 19 are among the top songs of the entire 90s. I suppose the other weaker songs of the remaining songs would be:
"Someone Else's Dream" "Poor, Poor Pitiful Me" "Lonely Too Long" "I Think About You"
Hoping Collin Raye makes the Top 15 but am expecting him to leave sooner than later

Nice! This is a spectacular top 20; I only got one ranking outside my top half and I still like it quite a bit. Pleasantly surprised to see "I Think About You" still hangin' in there, but it'll probably leave soon.
Hurts to see "No News" miss out, but oh well. You can't please everybody.
I knew that "Every Light in the House" would be on borrowed time given Trace's reputation here, but it did quite a lot better than I anticipated actually. :)

Thank goodness “No News” is finally out. Sorry to the fans, but the melody was grating, and the repetition of "No News" was just annoying. At least, I'm not the only one to be blamed, thanks to bboat11's taste. I know Lonestar has jams, like Never Enders or What About Now, but this was a huge miss.

So, I wanted to go ahead and post a look back at the winners from 30th Annual CMA Awards but found it hard to find videos from that particular year. Aside from the few that George Strait's team put together, most of the ones I did manage to find were of low-grade quality and only of their performances if so. Anyways, for those like myself who like to look back at old videos of award shows...here you go lol!

30th CMA Awards Horizon Award | Bryan White | Hindsight is always 20/20, but one can't help but think that the CMA got this wrong especially considering that he was nominated against the likes of Terri Clark, LeAnn Rimes, AND Shania Twain

Bryan winning over Terri and LeAnn is more than understandable, he was coming off of two huge hits. Winning over Shania though, woof. That had to be laughable at the time, and it's downright embarrassing now.

That had to be laughable at the time, and it's downright embarrassing now. The country industry never truly embraced Shania, and sadly this was just another example of that. Considering the huge heights that she reached, she hardly has any (American) country music awards to show for it.

Hard to argue with this top 20. Would've been nice to see "No News" in there in place of "When Boy Meets Girl" or "Lonely Too Long", but otherwise it's pretty impeccable.
Thrilled to see "I Think About You" get the love it deserves, even if it's a long shot to hang on for a top 10.

Yeah, you said it. “No News” is literally just a list that is chanted to the exact same melody over and over for the entire duration of the song. And that doesn’t say anything about my opinions of the song, because that is just the factual description of its contents and structure! The fact that enough people saw enough value in this repetitive two-note melody to put it nearly in the top 20 over melodic ear worms like “You’re Not In Kansas Anymore”, “Daddy’s Money”, etc. is mind-boggling to me. Clearly I must be missing something. But either way, Lonestar has frequently done much worse in these rankdowns with MUCH better songs!!
