While I do like Jeff's "Holdin' Onto Something", I'm partial to John Michael Montgomery's version as he recorded it for his 1995 self-titled album. YES! The taste is showing.

so my 87 through 89 left between 88 through 86 and didn't get a single perfect ranking, really lmao
Trace Adkins is an artist I used to like a lot, but as I've mentioned before I cannot ignore his homophobia and will not support him anymore. That means his songs will be lower than they probably would be otherwise. That being said "There's A Girl In Texas" has never been a favorite even before his ignorance was known. Never disliked it and would listen to it but I'd never seek it out either
I do feel that "Holdin' Onto Something" deserved better here. I enjoy this song and while I don't think it deserved a spot in the Top 50, I would have liked it to have lasted a bit longer at least. Not the biggest loss as this is a song that I had forgotten about until he died as I never actually knew he was the singer (I knew "Not On Your Love" was him but not this one).
the first of the 3 that was so close to being a perfect ranking. My #87 "It's What I Do" is a great song and I do enjoy Billy Dean a lot more than the average person on Pulse but in a list as strong as this one, he kinda gets lost in the shuffle with this one.
next at #87 is my #88. "On A Good Night" is a song I used to hate. Instant station changer cause I didn't like Wade Hayes voice at all when I first got into Country music. As I've gotten older I have grown to appreciate him a lot more and I do enjoy this song now.
lastly, my #89 is at #86, Sammy Kershaw has always been a favorite even before I became a Country music fan. "She Don't Know She's Beautiful" was a favorite from when I was a little kid and I also loved "Meant To Be". "Vidalia" is nowhere near his best, but it is fun when it comes on.
Now can "Home Ain't Where His Heart Is (Anymore)" leave soon. I really don't care for that snoozefest

I had wanted to do some reveals yesterday evening, but I opted to hold off so that the new releases rankdown could wrap up. I've got a bit of time now, so I'm going to dive right back in and reveal the next set of songs.

“I Just Might Be” was released in late 1996 as the second single for Lorrie Morgan's album Greater Need and peaked at #45 on the country charts. This clocked in as our seventh most polarizing song with it picking up about an equal amount of rankings inside the top half as well as the bottom 30. Speaking of, this actually had a bit of a rough start out of the gate as it was initially a bottom 5 contender. A lone top 25 from Kanenrá:ke gave this a bit of cover and moved it up almost twenty spots. While it did eventually settle back some, it still picked up quite a bit of support over the course of its run including a top 30 from .indulgecountry and a trio of top 40s from toomuchboy, bboat11, and 🌺CountryLineDancer. This also had two additional rankings inside the top half with the remaining all coming from down within the bottom 30. That included a trio of bottom 10s, 20s and 30s.

"Me and You" was released in July 1996 as the second single and title track from Kenny Chesney's third studio album and peaked at number 2 on the country charts. This was initially a top half contender as it picked up its highest ranking from austin who placed it just outside of his top 15. Six others including myself all joined him in rankings this inside our top half with an equal amount of participants then putting this down inside their bottom 30. That included a pair of bottom 10s from both Kanenrá:ke and toomuchboy.

"I Know She Still Loves Me" was released in December 1995 as the second and final single from George Strait's box set Strait Out of the Box and was a Top 5 hit in early 1996. This picked up three of its highest rankings early on which in turn bumped this up just a spot shy of the top 30. That included a top 30 from ccarter1023, a top 35 from gardyfan, and a near top 50 from nathanalbright. It eventually would settle back with each subsequent list that was received and even spent a bit of its time down inside the bottom 30. Yet again we see about an equal amount of rankings from within the top half as well as the bottom 30 with both toomuchboy and someguy ranking this down in their bottom 5. Its two highest rankings would come late in the final stretch with both bboat11 and LBTrocks placing this inside their top 25. It shouldn't come as a surprise that this song bows out early as it also exited George's artist rankdown in the bottom 20. This is one of the few songs from him that I rarely have a desire to want to revisit much hence my low ranking for it.

"High Lonesome Sound" was released in April 1996 as the first single and title track from Vince Gill's seventh studio album and peaked at #12 on the country charts. Ironically enough, that is the same position it rose up to here as its three highest rankings all came from the start of the rankdown. That included a top 3 from gardyfan as well as a pair of top 25s from nathanalbright and ccarter1023. It would only pick up three additional top half rankings with the remaining all mostly coming from down within the bottom 30. It found itself out of the top 50 for the first time in the middle of its run before continuing a downward trend where it eventually came to a rest at one of its lowest positions as we neared the end. While no one put this in their bottom 10, it did pick up a lone bottom 20 from 🌺CountryLineDancer.

"Big Guitar" was released in June 1996 as the fourth single from BlackHawk's second studio album, Strong Enough, and was a Top 20 hit for him that summer. Despite this starting off at its lowest position thanks to yours truly, it made a leap up into the top 40 as it picked up its two highest rankings thereafter including a top 25 from nathanalbright and a top 5 from gardyfan. That's a hard pill for him to swallow I'm sure as that makes back-to-back top 5 losses. It did eventually settle back and rode out the remainder of its time in and around the top 80. While it did pick up a few bottom 30s, the majority ranked this in their 60s, 70s, and 80s. This song has never been a particular favorite of mine from BlackHawk hence my low ranking. It's one of those that if it comes on I'll probably listen to it, but when trying to rank it amongst everything else from this year it just eventually found itself down towards the bottom of my list.

I feel like I can get behind the idea of ranking "I Just Might Be" a little too low because of lack of familiarity. After all, it was a pretty big flop compared to Lorrie's star power at the time. But to actively DISlike it is beyond my ability of comprehension. That absolutely GORGEOUS and intricate piano work alone is enough to warrant this making it a little bit higher Lorrie has had a rough time in this rankdown unfortunately, but I see her doing much better in 1995! Not with "Standing Tall" necessarily, as I have always tended to like that one more than most of Pulse... But with stuff like "Back in Your Arms Again" and "I Didn't Know My Own Strength", she'll definitely have a bit more hype on her side! Even with his "weaker" songs George Strait always belongs in the top 40. "I Know She Still Loves Me" may not have quite the catchy luster of something like "Check Yes Or No" or "Blue Clear Sky", but it still has a great hook and flawless delivery from The King. Pre-superstardom Kenny Chesney songs always feel a little bit weird and dated because he hadn't really found his sound yet, but "Me And You" is one of the best that he has to offer from those years. I always get the melody to this one stuck in my head randomly.

How is my #120 still alive in this rankdown and songs by Vince Gill, Kenny Chesney, and George Strait are out? I listened to it again just to make sure and yes it's still bad. Hopefully it'll exit soon.

"Not Enough Hours in the Night" was released in October 1995 as the first single from Doug Supernaw's third studio album, You Still Got Me, and was his third Top 5 country hit where it peaked in early 1996. This was an early top 20 contender thanks to gardyfan who unfortunately has had a bit of a rough stretch after having just lost back-to-back top 5s. By the middle of the rankdown it found itself outside of the top half altogether and rode out the remainder of its time in and around the top 70. It again slipped back towards the last quarter before coming to a rest at its lowest position in the final moments. That's due in part to it picking up half of its bottom rankings which included two additional bottom 10s from LBTrocks and .indulgecountry as well as a pair of bottom 30s from @countryyouttuber and bboat11. Seven others including myself lose a top half with kw9461's being a top 25. Next to "I Don't Call Him Daddy", this is probably my favorite song from Doug Supernaw and one that I always love to revisit. That said, I'm not entirely surprised by some of the lower rankings from those that are likely quite unfamiliar with him.

"Runnin' Away with My Heart" was released in May 1996 as the third single from Lonestar's self-titled debut album and was a Top 10 hit that summer. While this started off at its lowest position thanks to yours truly, it had a slow and steady climb throughout its run before coming to a rest at its highest position just inside the top 80. Seven participants in all ranked this inside their top half which included a top 20 from kw9461. I was the only one to rank this down in their bottom 5 with two others placing this in their bottom 30. While I enjoy most of Lonestar's output, this song in particular has just never clicked with me and more than not I find myself wanting to skip over it.
