Radio did that with Stay, and it burnt out on my over 6 months ago, but it's still #2 on the Hot 100 at about 3/4 of a year old. If As It Was has staying power of Stay, the Old Town Road record will be broken. Keep in mind, Stay didn't drop below the point total Heat Waves had these past few weeks until about its 30th week on the chart.

By the way, I checked and I think the gap between As It Was and Heat Waves is also the largest between the #1 and #2 in US Spotify. The previous largest gap is between Drivers License and Good Days in 2021/01/12 (Around 4,85 million difference)

I'm not sure how the two Hot 100 threads work so sorry if this is in the wrong one. However, I hope Harry manages to beat the records for highest jump on the Hot 100 and highest jump to #1. Me by Taylor Swift got close in 2019 (#100-#2) and it currently holds the record for the highest jump. Kelly Clarkson's My Life Would Suck Without You still holds the highest jump to #1 (#97-#1). I was hoping Green Light would do it when it debutted at #100 in March 2017, but it only jumped to #19

Last week, Harry was a guaranteed number one because numbers are so low and his song was anticipated, but anyone saying that was fooling themselves because Weeknd/Post/Dua/Megan and whoever else didn’t do it therefore he won’t. Plus he never has a number one debut before and number one debuts only happen to artists who’ve had them before, etc, etc.
Now it’s out and doing numbers and there’s no way he won’t be number one next week? Right? I’m excited for the next twist where he isn’t actually guaranteed to do it and everyone who dared suggest it is run off the board.

And holy sh*t, why are we letting Falling flop? That song is so f*cking beautiful. I felt the emotion in Harry's voice. It was a masterpiece.

And it also helped that Harry's last song fell off the chart almost a year ago. Unlike Abel and Dua, who each had 2 singles charting while they were trying to start a new project. If Watermelon Sugar and Golden were still charting right now, I can assure you that As It Was wouldn't be putting up those huge debut numbers.

There was no bad song off that album. “Golden” would have done well as the lead too, even more so than “Lights Up.” … I really love the artistic direction of the music videos along with the music.. You never know what to expect, from adventures with a goldfish to drowning alive… and it’s also part of what makes the song memorable.

I’m expecting a similar batch of songs in this new era but with the constant element of surprise at every corner. I think Harry will carry through with even higher streams this year than the Fine Line era. Keeping it to 13 tracks is also a smart move. Even if that’s shorter than the industry average, it allows you to absorb it without feeling bloated (like Icarus Falls by that one guy).
