Even though I really still don't like the song, good on Latto. Who was the last black woman to top the radio?

I think Lizzo messed up pretty badly by taking 3 years to start her album rollout. 2019 was a very unique time in music - pop started sounding like pop again, and new artists were having incredible success. Now we're in a pandemic world, and LNX/Billie (the other 2 2019 breakouts) have established themselves as stars through consistently dropping singles and releasing their follow-up albums in 2021. Lizzo's situation was already more difficult, having 2 older songs both blow up. It showed people already weren't super interested in her current output. Now add a three year gap with virtually nothing new, and it seems like she might struggle to get the public's attention like that ever again. To end on a positive note - I think her unique style and strong personality will guarantee she always has a core fanbase. Maybe she follows the CRJ gay icon model! Also, it didn’t help that Lizzo was already over 30 when she had her breakout. Perhaps we should have seen this coming when her two older songs, Truth Hurts and Good as Hell (which were recorded when Lizzo was still in her 20s), smashed while her more recently recorded song (Juice, which was recorded after she turned 30) flopped. Lizzo is the same age as Rihanna and Adele (34), so it wouldn’t be surprising if Rumours was her last real hit. After all, Katy Perry never really had a hit after Chained to the Rhythm, and she was 32 at the time. The 2021 breakouts look like they are going to have a similar fate as the 2019 breakouts. Don’t be surprised if in 2 years time, Kid Laroi and Olivia Rodrigo are the dominant artists in the music industry, while we’re wondering what the heck happened with Walker Hayes. If we’re gonna count rumors as a hit we have to count never really over by Katy as a hit haha

Nah, Walker Hayes will keep getting country hits even if his mainstream appeal peels off, he already broke through the country radio barrier and will continue to at least get some hits in the bottom 50 that we'll mention on a forum like this even if your average person won't now him beyond Fancy Like (and AA likely) (I'm betting AA becomes a top 10 hit this summer when country radio finally puts it into the top slot and suburbanites start streaming country en masse when the weather gets nice)

Don't Think Jesus Monday update — still more than a 2:1 lead on iTunes and #2 on Apple Music. Still #3 on Spotify.
Possibility the top 3 will be 1: Harry 2: Morgan 3: Jack?

This puts into perspective on how packed this spring is and i’m all in for this. Are we safe from that country guy from rebounding to #1 at all?

Can we please stop making up things like the "top 49", "top 18", "top 36" or "top 2137"? Honestly in this case especially saying "top 50" would be fair enough, since her other songs would have debuted below that if not for the longevity rules I'm pretty sure kim meant '40', it was a typo. I did mean top 49. After Minutes, 'Rumors' was quite literally her first song to debut above No. 50. is that phrasing better? either way, I was stating a mere fact and not making up an accomplishment like "first woman over 150 lbs. to debut in the Top 7 in a summer month." I get what you mean, but that's not what I'm doing here so calm your fucking tits.

There's no date for Post's album so I'm not taking the word of his manager that it'll be out next month until there's an actual date given

This puts into perspective on how packed this spring is and i’m all in for this. Aren't Harry and Post also in May as well? Yes they are. That post was just more Hip Hop centric. Besides Pusha who probably won’t make an impact on the charts (maybe a mini album bomb at most like with Daytona), everyone else will have longevity. As for Post, he’s screwed if he drops on the 13th or 20th as that’s when Kendrick and Harry will be dropping respectively. The 6th would have him going toe to toe with Jack so that could be messy. I guess the 27th is the only good date that Post can drop, but there’s a chance that he could get blocked from Harry’s 2nd week or Kendrick could rebound. The safest thing he could do right now is push back the album to June or July and that’s if anyone else doesn’t pose a threat.
