There were also rumors of her Play residency tickets only being like $21 or something because nobody was buying any. I don't know how legit the claim was but if so that is so sad. It still amazes me how she was on top of the world and now most people don't listen to her.

Katy coming back to bring us a summer bop! Let’s hope they actually promote it on streaming + radio. I feel like we only get one or the other anymore.
I hope her next album is more along the way of NRO and HIH. Both deserved much better than they got.

Unless someone is really marking down their resale ticket, that claim doesn’t seem to be true. |

Looking forward to new music from Katy. Smile, along with FN, was the best female Pop album of 2020.

Curious about the new single. For sure she and her team don't give up. At this point I really don't know if Katy can have another HUGE hit on the charts anymore. If that's the case, hopefully they release the album soon and this is not the beginning of yet another long string of singles hoping one catches huge popularity and becomes big. She's already tried so many different types of styles in the last years and none really worked commercially I believe. I liked her last album regardless of if it sold well or not.

Yeah, I know I'm in the minority because I've been told before but I still prefer albums to just singles. So if she's going to be releasing a single soon, I am expecting an album in the next three months. At least one can dream.

The only song I didn't really care about was the title track. If I had my way, the roll out would have been Early Spring 2019: 365 (with an active push to get her back in the public eye) Early Summer 2019: Never Really Over Winter 2019: Cry About It Later Eary Summer 2020: Harleys In Hawaii Late Summer 2020: What Makes A Woman promo single followed by album release Winter 2020: Not The End Of The World And if somehow that was all successful, push Champagne Problems remix as a "we'll see if it sticks". Instead we got the disjointed: Spring 2019: 365 Spring 2019: Con Colma (Remix) Early Summer 2019: Never Really Over Late Summer 2019: Small Talk Autumn 2019: Harleys In Hawaii (with zero push) Spring 2020: Never Worn White random drop Early Summer 2020: Daises (pushed as the lead single) Mid Summer 2020: Smile Spring 2021: Cry About It Later random remix Winter 2021: Not the End Of The World (with zero push) Since then we have got Eletric in Summer 2021 (which is a great song that got I think no push) and When I'm Gone in Winter 2021/2022 (did pretty decently considering all it followed and got a push with signs of life, but no active streaming push) |

I hope she has something dark and atmospheric in the works, like Dark Horse or E.T or even Harleys in Hawaii. That where she shines the most i think.

Smile was one of the best pop albums of the year. Just because it wasn't commercially successful doesn't make it a bad album.

Smile was such a great pop album. Definitely one of my favourite albums of the 2020s so far. So many great/catchy songs:
"Never Really Over"
"Tucked"
"Cry About It Later"
"Harleys In Hawaii"
"Smile"
"Daisies"
"Teary Eyes"
"Champagne Problems"
"Not The End Of The World"
"Only Love"
"What Makes A Woman"
Ok I kinda listed the entire album but still. The production is top notch too. In an alternate universe this album would've spawned multiple #1s, with 5+ top 10 hits. :'(
I'm glad a number of the songs managed to do well and continue to do well in residual streams. I just wish the album campaign was better managed. If only "Never Really Over" was followed straight away with "Harleys In Hawaii". "Small Talk" killed all momentum and the success built up by "Never Really Over". :'(
I look forward to KP6 and hope she can have a big comeback. Realistically, I would be happy with her getting another top 10 hit on the Hot 100 even if it stays there for 1 week.

Smile was a little too all over the place for me, but it was a rebound from Witness and had some legitimate gems hidden. "Never Really Over", "Harleys in Hawaii" and "Cry About it Later", for example.

Smile still holds up for me; it’s a shame the absence of a "hit" overshadowed how cohesive and solid it is.
