More PLAY shows added for this fall. It’s supposedly the final shows. Katy needs to release new music (preferably an album) before these shows end. Many 2010s artists are finding revived success now and Katy should strike while the nostalgia is hot.

I wouldn’t be surprised if she releases new music ahead of the Idol finale where she usually performs a song. I just hope it’s a bop that’s perfect for the summer like NRO or HIH.

Whatever we get, I just hope we get an album this year and not a string of one-off singles.

she can release whatever, whenever. Just use the correct promo strategy for 2023.

Despite many thinking that she's done as a successful pop star, I actually think she could come back fairly easily. She's still an A-list celebrity and household name, and is on primetime TV every week. She's gone back to her signature sex symbol look (the drastic hair change was a big part of her downfall imo) and if she drops the court jester stick and returns to clean-cut radio-friendly pop, she could maybe even have her own Flowers moment.

The pandemic effect? It feels like yesterday we got the music video to "Daisies" with Katy showing off her pregnancy. :(

I hope Katy release a new song this year. I think she could have a moderate hit again with the right song.

Her last album was exactly that. And people have been saying to drop the jester thing for over a decade. She is who she is.

Also, I don’t think she’ll see a big comeback on a large scale because she’s generally just not very likeable. The majority of the articles I see about her American Idol seat is that she’s rude to contestants etc. She’s cringe to Gen Z, and returning to a sex-symbol look doesn’t seem to be doing much for the good graces of millennial women, so….

She’s had the right material for awhile now. She’s been on American Idol for awhile now. She’s more relevant today than most of the people she came up with and her new music always get a fair shot on playlists etc. I see that as nothing but a win all around.

Not bad, not bad. I wish she wouldn’t end her belts so bluntly, but other than that it was pretty good. I do miss Katy, and she could absolutely return with the right song.

she just needs the correct promo strategy, the music itself imo has never been the problem for the most part. It's how they handle the era.

I agree with SPRΞΞ. A lot of the music she has released since 2019 has been good. But her promo and the way that her eras are handled have been messy since Prism with each succeeding era rollout messier than the previous one. Katy can definitely get another hit if it’s the right combo of song quality and promo rollout.

I think future songs will need to be one of two veins: Harleys In Hawaii or When I'm Gone/Never Really Over. Songs like Smile and Small Talk would be difficult for any artist to sell, let alone Katy

Couldn’t she work with Max Martin at the very least? He was fighting against her image in 2017 with Witness but I think if she ditches the clown act she can do well with him again.
