I actually don't think this sounds worse than most of Katy's other stuff? At least she left off the overly sappy songs and ballads that, outside Unconditionally, she never really sold for me. Watched the Zane interview as prep and she actually came across very likable. Nice palate cleanser. Anyway, yeah...Smile is better and hell, for the sheer WTF of it all at times, I would put Witness above it too. Is it basic? Sure. But, in my humble opinion, so is Katy. Not sure why this was released in the fall though, LOL. It screams summer pool party background music. I also agree that the production could have been more elevated, given what they were going for. There have been FAR superior all dance albums (Romy's On Air and Kylie's Tension immediately comes to mind), but it's fun. I prefer the Dark Horse re-treads over the more Euro material, but that's my personal taste. Nothing here is unlistenable. C+

GIMME GIMME (Nah, I was bopping to this one. #LisaRinna, yesssss we did it Joe!)
GORGEOUS (Cute and definitely a lesser Unholy.)
LIFETIMES (This really grew on me.)
CRUSH (I LOVE the Yeah, I...so catchy and I hear her doing stuff in the background.
I'M HIS, HE'S MINE (Now that I hear this on the album, it kinda reminds me of a slowed-down Bon Appetit, which I grew to love.)
NIRVANA (A bop!)
ALL THE LOVE (Eh. The first song on the album that sounded REALLY dated and gave me that Feel This Moment vibe. Definitely sounds like she is trying to capture former magic with this one, but it's not bad.)
TRUTH (Filler, but I've heard worse from her and it's not unlistenable.)
WOMAN'S WORLD (I kinda get why it was chosen as the lead, but everything else on the album is better.)

TUNISIAN BONUS TRACK:
WONDER (Ehhhhh. I want to like this more than I do. Again, not TERRIBLE, but I could have honestly done without it.)

“Gorgeous” is on every New Music Friday playlist, and got a lyric video unlike the other songs, so it’ll absolutely be the one that does best.

Spotify shows unfiltered streams tho, like 5-6 hours after their top 200 list (filtered streams), you can see it when you click on the song. They show the total number of unfiltered streams, but it's easy to tell when a song is a day old.

I’m kinda on board with the absurdly low meta at this point? This is just getting worse for me with repeated listens. I have been saying since WW came out I think AI was heavily involved to make it, and hearing the whole album I’m more convinced than ever now.

A lot of this sounds like an obsessed Katy Cat got bored waiting for new music from her and fired up the AI software. I’m pretty sure I think Lifetimes is the “highlight” of the album, and I maintain it’s an unfinished demo… back to listening to 365 for me, which is what a “dance pop” Katy Perry album should have been.

Thought some songs were “okay,” then listened to the album the whole way through and picked up on the song transitions… definitely was intended to be played all the way through. THEN I watched the Zane Lowe interview and now I get it. Great, intentional album that’s just supposed to be fun.

yes, basically my point all these weeks. If Katy released Radical Optimism and Dua 143, Radical would have 45 (it has 73) and 143 by Dua around 60 (it's down to 35 now). They never liked Katy (can't imagine how happy they were with the DrL debacle), I mean Teenage Dream has 52?! I'm surprised she even has 13 Grammy noms, but I guess TD and her hits were too big not to include. 143 is FAR from a masterpiece, but to be named as the worst album of the year is truly BS.

The concert in Brazil was amazing, but nothing else is expected from Katy and the Brazilians.
