Wait hold up, on question 2 by top 40 do you mean top 40 of the hot 100, or a song on top 40 radio charts.

1. No- A shame, I'm finally starting to like their music and now it looks like their chart reign has come to an end. Seems to be a common thing wit artists lol 2. No- Yeah this seems unlikely lmao 3. Yes- Well I'm kicking myself for initially thinking this would be an underperformance lol. The sales are there obviously, but it's the streaming holdup so far that's convincing me it won't be in for a huge freefall next week

1. No - Yeah this opportunity has very much passed. I'm surprised they even got the two charting songs with the last album, but I guess superstar collabs will do that. No collab seems to have been hinted at with this one, and the two singles did so poorly, I just don't see any charting hit coming of this.
2. No - That small comeback in 2019 was definitely just because High Hopes was a massive hit, and it carried the rest of the era. It was not because people were just waiting with their wallets in hand to listen to new Panic! at the Disco. Without another lucky hit like that one, there's just no way. P!atD does have its own loyal fanbase, so I can see maybe something popping into the lower portion of the chart off first week sales or something, but no way they get top forty.
3. Yes - Of all those examples listed, only Willow and Heartless actually had good streaming. Heartless didn't drop that badly in hindsight and Willow was exacerbated badly by Christmas. Super Freaky Girl, against all odds, seems to have really good streaming backing it, at least for the last couple of days. That's probably enough for it to not drop out of the top twenty since all those other cases listed like Franchise and Trollz were cases of just extreme sales reliance.

1. No - Demi's probably done with mainstream success. Her last few hits were barely successful commercially, due to the guest stars. With no big guest stars and the same old subject matter, I'd be surprised if anything from HOLY FVCK takes off.
2. Yes - Admittedly has a very low chance of happening, but I think there's a chance? Not super hard to imagine they release something a little pop-y or more current, and get a moderate radio hit. High Hopes wasn't that long ago!
3. Yes - When I wrote this question, I didn't think SFG would hold nearly this well on streaming. Now, I could see this holding in the Top 5 (or even at #1!) in its second week. Crazy that Nicki has another Pop hit in 2022.

This week's questions (Deadline Thursday, August 25)
Q1: Hold Me Closer Elton John just announced the release of "Hold Me Closer", his new collab with Britney Spears. Similar to "Cold Heart", it's built around a couple older Elton hits, interpolating "Tiny Dancer" and "The One". Elton recently had success with "Cold Heart" peaking at #7 earlier this year. Britney hasn't released much music in recent years, however she has been in the news a lot her conservatorship and the #FreeBritney legal battle. What kind of first week hype can we expect? It's hard to say, but it seems likely that this will sell a lot. Also, fan reception to early leaks has been overwhelmingly positive. Pick One: Where will "Hold Me Closer" debut on the Hot 100 next week? (9/10 chart) A: Top 10 B: #11 - #30 C: #31 - #50 D: Below Top 50 or Won't Chart
Q2: JID This Friday, JID is dropping his new album, "The Forever Story". JID has been gradually growing his fanbase over the last decade. In 2017, his debut album "The Never Story" caught a lot of people's attention. The next year, he was featured on the cover of the 2018 XXL Freshman Class. His follow-up album "DiCaprio 2" performed even better commercially. He's recently done a number of collabs, most notably featuring on Imagine Dragon's "Enemy" (#5) last year. He's yet to have much solo chart success, but a couple of recent collabs have hit the back half of the chart: "Surround Sound" (#90, with 21 Savage & Baby Tate) and "Stick" (#71, with J. Cole, Kenny Mason & Sheck Wes). Signs point to this potentially being JID's biggest project yet - will he see any chart success? Will any song's off JID's "The Forever Story" land on the Hot 100 next week? (9/10 chart)
Q3: Nicki vs Cardi Both Nicki Minaj and Cardi B have teased an album release this year. With the success of Nicki's "Super Freaky Girl", it stands to reason that her team will want to keep the momentum going for her next album. Despite Billboard's crackdowns on Digital Sales, her fanbase has powered her to multiple top 10 hits this year. And on Cardi's side, she's mentioned releasing her long-awaited next album this year a few times. Whenever it arrives, there's no doubt it will make a splash. Cardi's last few singles have been big - "Up" (#1), "Rumors" (#4, with Lizzo), and "Hot Shit" (#13, with Kanye and Lil Durk"). Q4 is looking like a big opportunity for both rappers to drop. Will either artist follow through and release an album this year? Who will see more chart success? Will Nicki Minaj or Cardi B's songs spend more total weeks in the Top 10 through the end of the year? (9/10 - 12/31 charts)* *Starting the week of 9/10, including features

1. B (#11-#30) - This song sounds really good. It should sell a lot first week, and stream reasonably well. I don't think Elton or Britney have the star power at this point in their careers to debut Top 10 in the US, so I'm going to be safe and guess they wind up around #20-#25 first week.
2. Yes - JID seems due for some more chart success. He's grown his fanbase a lot over the last few years, and this is his first album in 4 years.
3. Nicki - I don't think Cardi releases anything else this year. Seems like she's stopped talking about the album so much lately, after teasing it earlier in the year. Also "Hot Sh-t" might've been a slight disappointment, I think she assumed a Kanye collab would at least guarantee a top 10. Nicki may not release either, but she has SFG which looks likely to stick around for a while.

1. #31~50- This feels like a safe bet. Will definitely sell well, but I'm not sure if the streaming and radio will be good enough to elevate it further 2. Yes- Looking at the tracklist, there isn't any MAJOR stars in here, so I'm not expecting too much chart impact. Do expect Surround Surround to return at least 3. Nicki- Not sure if we can expect anything from Cardi for the rest of this year, and I think SFG is built to last a bit

1. B (I could see this debuting somewhere in the 20s, but it would be cool to see both of them get another top ten!) 2. Yes 3. Nicki (SFG looks like it could have a solid run, and Cardi's last few singles haven't spent a ton of time in the top ten, if at all)

1: A 2: Yes 3: Cardi (I think she puts out something again before the end of the year, I don’t see Nicki getting more than perhaps one more week top 10 with SFG)

1. D - Ugh I hate to say this cuz Britney deserves to join the club of 90s artists with top ten hits in the 20s, but I don't see it. Yeah Cold Heart eventually became a big hit, but it didn't start there. Maybe Hold Me Closer will rise, maybe it won't. Depends on a lot of factors like TikTok and junk. But the Britney name attached to it, after all her news over the past year, could give it a good edge to catch on with some people. I'm pretty confident about it not debuting high, though.
2. Yes - Eaaaasssy money here. JID's been building up a lot of hype lately, charting with all those tracks you mentioned. Admittedly, those all charted low, but we've seen the power that album bombs can have this year. I can even see one entering the top half of the chart. I know Enemy's success probably isn't entirely translating to the rap fanbase hype, but it had to do something, I'm sure.
3. Nicki Minaj - This is a pretty precarious one, but I'm basing this off the idea that Cardi B won't release anything else big this year. Super Freaky Girl is holding up so well in streaming, too. It might actually get several top ten weeks if radio catches on quickly.
