I'm a bit doubtful regarding the album bombs - Bad Bunny had Dakiti to build up prior to the album release last time around and yet he didn't get any top ten debuts, and Jack Harlow is still a new act building his status.
Glad to be proved wrong though, some songs just need to exit top ten this week.

It makes NO SENSE how good this Bad Bunny album is. Every single song hits hard. He will be here for a VERY LONG time if he keeps making music this good.
I know this week is the Jack Harlow/Bad Bunny week but some amazing albums by female artists also got released this week: Ella Mai's album is very good. Sigrid's album is excellent. Sabrina Claudio really delivered on her album. Emeli Sande's album is a great listen. And last but not least, Mary J. Blige released a deluxe version to her incredible album, Good Morning Gorgeous released earlier this year and it's even better than the original version.
All around, this is an incredible week for new music. It feels like I'm in heaven.
Have a good week, guys!

Manifesting this as the week Save Your Tears and Levitating *finally* leave the Hot 100 for good. (There’s a slight chance one or both could leave the previous week, but I think it’s much more likely to happen this week.)
Not sure what other songs are expected to leave that are near the threshold, but man, if early projections pan out, it could get ugly. And that’s before Kendrick and Harry over the next 2 weeks.

It will be most of the songs debuting this week that will make room for Kendrick and Harry later. The old ones will stay but question is which old ones.

I wonder how many songs will be in the top 10 from these debuts - I bet Dua Lipa for sure, maybe Morgan Wallen, maybe another Harlow or Nail Tech, maybe a Bad Bunny?
I bet just Wait For U will stay of the Future songs if that so 🤞🏼 Stay can get another week in the top 10

YUNA also has a short EP out and Ibeyi have a new album out as well (I feel like you'd like both acts, they're both R&B and the latter has a Jorja Smith feature on their album). And as for the rest of you, y'all better not complain about not having anything to listen to for the next month or so. This week has almost everything for most genres: alt releases (flor, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever), indie releases (Arcade Fire, Belle & Sebastian, Sunflower Bean, Sharon Van Etten), hard rock (Halestorm, Three Days Grace, Silverstein), pop punk (Stand Atlantic, Simple Plan), hip-hop (IDK, Jack Harlow), reggaeton (Bad Bunny), R&B (Ella Mai, Sabrina Claudio, Yuna, Ibeyi), pop (Sigrid). And this is just the first week of May, we've got a lot more big releases this month (and I'm not just talking about album bombs). Y'all have NO EXCUSES to not check out at least two albums from this week.

I bet just Wait For U will stay of the Future songs if that so 🤞🏼 Stay can get another week in the top 10 I can guarantee you that Stay isn't going to be in the Top 10 during this tracking week. That said, I don't think Morgan is going to make the Top 10 this time around. He barely did so last time, and the competition is much stronger now than when he released DTJ. I'd replace Morgan with Churchill Downs. It's a Drake feature and it's Kentucky Derby weekend, so people will naturally check out a song titled Churchill Downs (the name of the venue of the Kentucky Derby).

I didn't mention EPs/singles because I was focused on the albums released today and how solid most of them were. I have enough new music to last me weeks and we get a new Kendrick Lamar album next week to keep things rolling. Anyone complaining about a lack of new music or new good music isn't serious. There's more than enough good sh*t out there right now and more new stuff will be dropping over the next 4-6 weeks.

Morgan Wallen is totally going to be number one, guys Can't go to #1 if it's significantly behind First Class on all metrics, especially streaming and radio. For Morgan's new song to have a chance, it will need to do the sales numbers that Butter did during Donda week, and safe to say that there's a 0% chance that's happening. First Class is going to be #1 this tracking week, but I think most people knew that the minute it was announced Jack Harlow's album was dropping on May 6.

I think he was being sarcastic but yes, First Class is going to #1 regardless. Releasing the music video now was a genius move from the team. On AM, Bad Bunny is no surprise in the lead with Jack not too far behind. The song that has Drake on it is the 2nd most popular song on the album right now and i expect it to stick around. Maybe a top 20 debut is already set for it and if it’s lucky it could debut in the top 10 but we have to look at its numbers, and if Bad Bunny is capable of also debuting some songs in the top 10 or 20.

Since we're talking about Morgan Wallen, where does he go for his next single? Should his team focus on one of his newer singles like Don't Think Jesus or Thought You Should Know or do you think they should try and get a single from Dangerous like Cover Me Up or Somebody's Problem (personally would love to see 7 Summers get another chance but that's not happening.)
|

Post by phieaglesfan712 on May 6, 2022 9:55:38 GMT -5
It depends on the longevity of Thought You Should Know. If it's still doing well in Week 3, he should go ahead and promote that as his new single. If it goes the way of Don't Think Jesus (no longevity), it might not be a bad idea to go back to Dangerous to get another single, especially after what we saw with Abel with the After Hours/Dawn FM situation. As Dawn FM shows, there is no guarantee that Morgan's next album is going to succeed.

What is Miranda Lambert's highest charting song that she's written? Bluebird at #26? Wonder if the Morgan song can get improve on that.

A chart shake-up will be welcome. Let's just hope that the oldies that get displaced don't re-enter once the album-bombs, new-releases effect subsides.

Such a thing could very well happen for some of these songs, as long as they rise in performance for "significant" reasons, I suppose.
