I haven't heard ADT yet, and I'm hoping that luck continues until I have to rank it down.

I can usually take or leave Lizzo, but ADT’s funky slap bass, uhh, slaps!

Fans Choose My Chemical Romance’s ‘The Foundations of Decay’ as This Week’s Favorite New Music The rock group's new six-minute track brought in 40% of the vote.
By Mitchell Peters
05/15/2022
My Chemical Romance‘s new song “The Foundations of Decay” has topped this week’s new music poll.
Music fans voted in a poll published Friday (May 13) on Billboard, choosing the rock group’s dizzying six-minute track as their favorite new music release of the past week.
“The Foundations of Decay,” MCR’s first release as a band since 2014, brought in 40% of the vote, beating out new music by Post Malone featuring Roddy Ricch (“Cooped Up”), Kendrick Lamar (Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers), Florence + The Machine (Dance Fever), The Chainsmokers (So Far So Good), and others.
“The Foundations of Decay” showcases MCR’s penchant for epic storytelling while highlighting frontman Gerard Way’s impeccable vocal range. The act broke up in 2013, but dropped a single titled “Fake Your Death” the following year as part of a greatest hits compilation.
In August, My Chemical Romance will launch their long-awaited reunion tour, which was pushed back from its planned 2020 start due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Placing second on the past week’s tally with nearly 28% of the vote was Post Malone’s new single “Cooped Up,” which reunites the superstar with his “Wow.” remix partner Roddy Ricch. The collab also helps set the stage for Posty’s long-awaited new album, Twelve Carat Toothache, which arrives on June 3.
See the final results of this week’s new music release poll below.
What's your favorite new music release of the week? (Poll Closed) My Chemical Romance, “The Foundations of Decay” 40.44% Post Malone feat. Roddy Ricch, “Cooped Up” 28.17% Kendrick Lamar, 'Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers' 15.09% Florence + The Machine, 'Dance Fever' 13.48% The Chainsmokers, 'So Far So Good' 1.01% Other: 1.01% Becky G, 'Esquemas' 0.8%

About Damn Time is probably her best hit song in that it's not as annoyingly peppy and upbeat as Good as Hell, won't end up as dated as Truth Hurts, and isn't a mess like Rumors. It's still far from her best - I still wish Boys, Tempo, or Juice were actually her most famous songs - but y'know, if it comes on during a drag lipsync it'll be fun time (and yes, that is the new barometer for pop songs: if it works in a drag show). It’s even better when you realize that it’s a Lizzo song in 2022, that became a hit in 2022. I can’t imagine myself being in 2024 or 2025 and listening to this song acting like its a current hit (although nothing wrong with that, but like you said some elements to it become dated).

I guess Kendrick is more of a physical sales kind of artist. Ever since TPAB (or even GKMC), i always felt like its been that way due to the universal acclaim and the high reception his catalogue always gets, therefore more of his core fanbase or even some of the general public would be inclined to get a CD or Vinyl from the project. Damn had 353k of his 603k album equivalent sales as physical copies.
This makes me wish that he had dropped physicals at the same time. I was anticipating getting a CD the day it dropped and then i find out it’s just digital media for now. You would think they would learn from what happened with Dawn FM..

Both TPAB and DAMN. had physicals week 1 and leaked because of it, so that’s probably what he wanted to avoid this time around.

Pretty funny how the only award Stay lost on the BBMA’s was the radio songs award. I guess we can finally put to bed the narrative about Stay being radio driven.

A 70% decline in two days is harsh. I’ve only heard bits and pieces, but from what I can gather, it’s not exactly Kendrick’s most revisitable album.

Oh I was looking at US numbers lmao A 70% decline in two days is harsh. I’ve only heard bits and pieces, but from what I can gather, it’s not exactly Kendrick’s most revisitable album. "Revisitable" isn't something to describe most Kendrick albums, at least if you're just a casual fan who won't care about lyrics. DAMN. and the Black Panther album are the most accessible Kendrick projects and yet are among his weakest. Again, let's just celebrate one of the best albums of the year is on tracking to having one of the biggest debuts of the year, "longevity" be damned.

I can't say I'm at all bothered about the Spotify performance of Kendrick's album but the fact that it's already slipping on Apple Music is bothersome because that means it won't have any longevity and since when did we only care about the quality of music releases? What use is releasing a supposedly great album if no one is listening to it after a few weeks?

She hasn't released a new single since Future Nostalgia (Sweetest Pie was Meg's) — I wouldn't remotely call her a flop or compare her to the Weeknd yet, she had one song where she was a guest that flopped on. Her last "proper" single was the biggest song of the year

Space Man reaches #1 in the UK on Spotify (SloMo climbs to #2 in Spain with slightly higher streams than Space Man), Stefania (Ukraine), Space Man and SloMo debut in the top 100, Hold Me Closer (Sweden), De Diepte (The Netherlands), Brividi (Italy) and Give That Wolf a Banana (Norway) enter the top 200
