Well, there were a few Airplay #1s in the 90s that never hit the Hot 100, but that was because of Singles rules at the time and probably not what you're asking.

Correct. I should've qualified by saying post-1998 rule change, which incorporated all airplay formats and eliminated the release requirement. And, obviously, until iTunes came along, the chart roughly mirrored the airplay chart. I won't even go there with recurrents, holiday, etc. So many qualifications! Thanks, Billboard.

Expect piano ballads and acoustic guitar tracks mixed with a few mellow and breezy pop/trap tracks. I think it's his best album, but I don't see it doing anything in terms of hits. Like, I wouldn't be surprised if it flops hard and debut behind Bad Bunny and Harry on the next week's chart.

Eh. Longevity records are being broken every year now, Disney has/will always get occasional chart hits, and there’s a new old song going viral every week at this point.

I would say all this is quite in expectation of charts in the year 2022.

WH is getting power spins this week combined with the flushing out of all those stagnant because of the bombs, it just might chart, making this observation moot.

Post 1998 and not including songs going recurrent, the highest I found a song make on airplay while missing Hot 100 is January 13, 2007 dated Hot 100 (2006 Christmas gift card rush) when Rihanna's "Break It Off" was N/A while #22 on Radio Songs.

I believe this may be the highest radio peak for a song that never reached Hot 100 though.

Probably. We've seen what Tik Tok did for Fleetwood Mac, so anything from social media to Netflix and beyond will cause a resurgence. The playing field is more accessible and time is no longer a restriction.

Curious if that means Hounds Of Love will experience a decent re-entry on the Billboard 200.

I think #3 is the highest it can go this week. As It Was and First Class are probably out of reach this week, but if it continues putting up these numbers, it should easily be #1 on the 6/18 chart.
