[After Minutes]

The remaining albums that I'm most excited for chart-wise this year are Utopia, Lil Baby's next project and Olivia's album if that drops. Outside of Taylor or like a surprise Frank Ocean/Rihanna release these are the only ones that I would expect to cross 200k from the artists I could see releasing this year

I’ve just about given up on Utopia being released. It’s been almost 3 years since the supposed first single (Highest in the Room) was released and almost 2 years since the release of the most recent single (Franchise). Plus, Travis has pretty much disappeared from the scene since the Astroworld concert debacle.

Well if Utopia doesn’t seem like it’ll perform as well as Astroworld, at least he can just slap HITR, The Scotts and Franchise on the back end of the album, then market the era having 3 #1s and call it a day.

why do dua always has high radio points but her streaming are so abysmal in compared to how big it is. like levitating was not a hit in streaming at first but they keep pushing it on radio until it becomes a hit, cold heart debut is good and it has longevity but her latest singles albeit not for her own album are underperforming... sweetest pie and potion being heavily carried by radio yet the streams are so low.. the payola is very obvious but I'm not really mad about it since I like her music.

Do yall ever think she could have a song that has decent streams and not really heavily carried by radio in her next era?

What are you talking about? She's very well streamed. The reason radio latches onto her is because her music is perfect for the radio, catchy pop songs, always following the formula. The callouts of her songs also do well so you know the listeners enjoy it and it's organic. Her music also garners great streams on spotify and occasionally on apple music so no idea why you wanna spread misinformation. Levitating and don't start now are actually 2 of the best selling songs of the decade for a female. Not to mention cold heart smashing on spotify.

Sometimes artists are much stronger in one metric than another (or others). Unless it's a result of direct manipulation or fraud, doesn't mean their success is completely illegitimate.

I don’t think it’s payola as much so as it is the name. Recent tracks by artists like 5SOS, Ava Max and Sam Smith have soared up the chart due to name recognition & past smashes, not because of current success. Radio likes playing it safe

don't think has much to do with the hype, it only has 2.6M. I think it's more to do with Joji's cult following for the past 5 years + the song being really good, most of the TikTok videos that've been made about the song are reacting to how good it is. It was also previewed on Joji's TikTok so that helped.

yes i agree with you about tth.it's basically a game of having the right connections if you have the right ones you get a good tth spot or other playlist in general. I like Spotify but it is what it is.
