and I only posted a small-ish selection that I LOVED, not the entire thing. there's more than double the number of photos I posted up on her website.

nothing to do with kindness, but that sounds illogical to me. if you want to avoid anything Beyoncé then don't check the thread—that's up to you. she's officially published these photos so I'm not seeing what the hold up is.

if I didn't want to see the tracklist or photos or whatever else Beyoncé herself has already shared, I wouldn't come in here to tell other people not to post or hide these things just because I personally am making the very individual choice of avoiding these things. are we supposed to use spoilers until USPS delivers your order specifically and you find time to unbox it and give us a green light?

I don't understand the issue here. They're from the main page of her official website. The album is out in half the world. They are pictures, lol. Should we post a spoiler when the album cover is released? Or the tracklist? Or a video? Or features? Samples? Like where is the line drawn? It's not that serious.

Any expectation that you're gonna go into an artist's main thread and not see all of this stuff is... kinda ridiculous?

And someone? It’s more than one. ;) And new pictures? The issue was is some of the pictures could be included in the box sets/album, that’s all. It was a simple f**king request.

Anyway, those pics are ok. Not a fan of the look this era, that vogue session slays everything and should have been her album shoot.

yes, spoiler function is for things that can be spoiled. not for things the artist whose thread you're in has publicly announced and shared already.

what's next, thread title too revealing? maybe we should remove the album title and date. "oh no, I wanted the album to be a surprise release for me"

I do think this is misdirected unresolved anger towards Pharrell, Beyonce had no obligation to contact anyone except whoever owns the publishing. But I will say that when I first heard Diva and Video Phone I immediately thought of Kelis Was Here (don't drag me)...

Also she does not need to shade my boy Chad like that, "it's a miracle he can keep his neck up" looolll, straight after a performance no less...

she lost me when she casually dropped an r-bomb in the beginning, which  ,but she has all the right to be frustrated. sounds like there's layers to this between her and Pharrell and Chad, and this was the final straw that made her go on a rant.

I don't think she should have addressed it this way (by that I mean dragging Beyoncé using her food blogger account) but she probably enjoys the attention

I don't think Kelis is the type to seek out drama, but she certainly doesn't hold back when she goes off. She's def 90% mad at Pharrell, and 9% mad at Chad since he stuck up for Pharrell in the publishing dispute, Beyoncé is just collateral damage. Or maybe this is all just promo for Energy to get more streams so she gets a bigger check lol.

I hope the hive doesn't go too hard on Kelis, the lady lost her husband to cancer just a few months ago...

4/5 is still pretty good! though I agree it should have been better.

The Telegraph and The Guardian both gave Lizzo's Special and Harry Styles' Harry's House 4/5's as well, and while I enjoy all three of these records, RENAISSANCE eats them up. I'm sure Lizzo and Harry would agree.

this is a testament to how "BREAK MY SOUL" is a big hit in the UK, I say. mainstream pop hit = 0.5-1 stars off your review

Pretty much this. The reason Kelis may not have been "asked" is because to clear a sample you must get permission from whoever owns the Master track and whoever holds the publishing rights. Kelis neither owns her Masters nor did she write the song (The Neptunes did). This is much more about respect than anything else. No one was obligated to tell her, but Kelis is an industry vet and at the very least should have been notified.

I'm so pumped for this album, but damn Kelis went in. What else did B steal from her? I know Ne-Yo isn't over not getting all the credit for Irreplaceable in the beginning, LOL.

When "Ring The Alarm" came out there was a lot of chatter about it jacking "Caught Out There." Aside from the screaming, they sound nothing alike to me. But you know how people are when it comes to Beyoncé, any lame attempt to call her a hack.

I clearly remember people saying Diva and Video Phone sounded like a few tracks from the Kelis Was Here album. Not saying it was true (they were all produced by Bangladesh so obv there would be similarity) but there were def comparisons made.

It makes me beyond excited about the garage beat influences. When I went to raves in the late 90s, it was my favourite genre to dance to, next to house. Ugh. Memories!!! I’ve been hoping for years a mainstream artist would bring it to the forefront/general public.

Kelis isn't credited as a writer on that song as far as I know. So NO Beyoncé didn't owe Kelis sh*t because she simply doesn't own the publishing of the song. She should re-direct her anger to Pharrell and Chad and move along.

If she's that mad she can take her ass to court and file a lawsuit she'll 100% lose.
