It’s too early for me to rank this album within her discography, but I do immediately think it’s much better than Lemonade (I would rank that one the lowest).
Summer Renaissance is such an amazing closer - possibly my favorite song.
Cozy, Thique, Church Girl, Alien Superstar, and Pure are up there too.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present my darling mother's hot take on the new Beyonce album (she has heard clips on TV, mind you.) That techno funkno. It's for people at the club. You hear her voice, but it's not her voice. It's mixed with the synthesizers. It's technisized. All I heard was that funny sound. Her voice thrown intermittently with that. There's no chorus. But the kids are doing it now so she's doing it. |

Love RENAISSANCE. I get the Erotica/Velvet Rope comparison: it's sleazy like Erotica and experimental like Velvet Rope... but it's just inspiration, sonically RENAISSANCE is 2022, not 1990s.
Like somebody said before, I'm That Girl should have been an interlude... and maybe All Up In Your Mind was not needed but the rest is top notch dance music.
Cuff It, Virgo's Groove, Thique, Pure/Honey and Summer Renaissance my early favorites.

Velvet Rope was a classic. Erotica was a moment. Renessaince is a good experience. I can't put it in the same bracket as Velvet Rope.

I’m surprised Pure/Honey doesn’t sample Nasty Girl by Vanity 6 or does it? I hear it clear as day (the version by Inaya Day) on Honey. Does anyone else hear it?

I’m still really liking this but I can completely see many peoples small complaints with it.
A lot of the songs are more hooks than melodys but it doesn’t bother me.
A few songs I wish were longer like “Energy”.
That’s one of my favorites along with “Pure/Honey, Cuff It, Summer Renaissance, Break My Soul and Church Girl”.
So far I think can’t think of anything I hate off it.
Not sure if this album will stand the rest of time with me but I’m going to be bopping to it for a bit.

Yeah I've revisited it a few times and can confidently say it does not top self titled for me. It's still a good album tho.

as mentioned, Pitchfork gave the album a 9.0, making RENAISSANCE her highest rated studio album by Pitchfork.
only trails the 9.3 they gave HOMECOMING: The Live Album.
