I would think with the praise—it should be an automatic win at this point.

I really hope so - she's overdue yes, but deserves AOTY because the album is excellent. I'm still so excited by it.

It's hard for me to look at the nominees and think another should win. Renaissance was a critical/commercial hit. I just hope her backers are playing up the "overdue" angle. That works for the Academy Awards sometimes. Though I guess you could say the same about Abba.

I hope they toss ABBA Best Pop Group/Duo Performance and leave it at that. I think it's mainly the fact they were never nominated for a Grammy until 2022 and actually, shockingly released a new album after nearly 40 years. The material is nice, but not so strong IMHO to push out other contenders especially in the Generals.

Based on nominations alone, I think it's between Beyonce and Brandi, but Adele could swoop in too or secondarily Harry or Bad Bunny. Mary, Kendrick, Coldplay, Lizzo, and ABBA I don't see.
(Though if it somehow went to Mary, I would explode with joy)

My guess is that something must have happened to stall the era. This new audio message, these Club Renaissance parties, all should have happened in the month(s) after the album release. At this point it just feels isolating coming from an elusive, private global superstar. If you’re going to release arguably the best album of your career, let’s show it the respect it deserves instead of sitting on hit singles (Cuff It) and doing any kind of service to the fans who are the ones who are pulling this era through.

I'm clearly in the minority but.... not having visuals isn't even really that much of a bother to me. I don't really watch music videos anymore (honestly, who does?). I'm not going to be mad for months on end over some videos I'll probably watch once or twice then never again. Never really revisited Lemonade/Self-Titled videos.


I'm more thrown off with her announcing Renaissance as some 'Act 1' then never clarifying what the hell that meant and what more would the era entail lol. I also wish she did promotion/interviews again more than visuals. Artists dropping an album and never publicly speaking on it is just not the tea.

Oh I found thr bey thread. My God Renaissance is a freaking masterpiece. I'm getting some physical copies with amz gift cards soon. This album is going to be a timeless classic.

I'm excited for the visuals to come out, her mind is so unique I am sure we are in for a treat. I haven't kept up with this thread so I have to go back and read.

Tldr: BUY AND STREAM RENAISSANCE IF YOU WANT TO HAVE GOOD MUSICAL TASTE!

I have been wondering if she wanted the music to be the focus, especially for Grammy voters, rather than relying on visuals to carry the day. Like maybe she wants to prove that she doesn't need videos to have a successful album cycle after how music video driven her album cycles have been since B'Day.

For me, this is my favorite album she has ever made so far and I am loving it without any visuals. I'll still be excited when they come later, but I'm not mad the album has been out for 5 months and we don't have them yet.

I agree with everything you said. I’m more indifferent to visuals as opposed to not caring. If they come, they come. If they don’t, they don’t. What bothers me more is the lack of live performances. You’re never too big or too good to get your ass on Jimmy Fallon, Colbert or any show that still books performers to do a set. I know she has standards, which are fine, but she could have also done another Netflix special or something with Amazon Live. Not performing anything until she goes to the Grammys and they deny her AOTY again is going to be a facepalm. She always gives the most energy to the wrong places. Maybe it’s true that nobody watches the Soul Train Awards or the NAACP Image Awards, but maybe they would if you were there, Beyoncé. And maybe they should have a little bit more priority since those black institutions support you more than the ones that never genuinely will. Winning AOTY at the Soul Train Awards doesn’t even get a taped speech, but she’ll be sitting in the audience with a fake smile when Brandi Carlisle accepts AOTY at the Grammys.
