doesn't mean much in 2022, but the collab is the song that's by far the highest on itunes for drake's album.
also #2 on apple despite being the end of the album.

A rapper drops a dance album with a lone rap song/collab, of course his rap fans will consume that song the most. Sticky will probably also rise to being the #2 or #1 song on the album because he raps on that as well.

we now have 3 songs with multiple 10 mil+ us spotify weeks this year: as it was, first class, running up that hill. hoping glimpse of us becomes the 4th even during Drake's onslaught.
Speaking of, looking through the last 10 years, besides baauer and soko who had one-hit-wonder memes and whose names are forgotten, Olivia's the only person in the streaming era whose first hit was a solo top 10 debut. fellow part asian Joji joining would be nice.

It is really intriguing that the number one song on Drake’s new album is the one with 21 Savage, a feature. It is even more intriguing because it is the at the bottom of the track list. That suggests that people are intentionally bypassing all of the other songs just to get to that one, and that is not even the one being promoted as a single with a video. He is responsible for the success of Wait for You, though

Now you are saying the opposite as an excuse about the biggest song on his album being the only feature? Which is it then? Is being heavily rap a hindrance or not?

He is responsible for the success of Wait for You, though I feel the opposite. He knew exactly what he was doing adding Jimmy Cooks to an album that is all singing and experimental. That track is the only thing that is the usual side of Drake and adding 21 Savage, especially as he’s the only feature on the entire project and he’s always going to rap, would only make people want to scout that track first (assuming they’re not an album’s listener). It’s a really interesting marketing decision even if the track is so out of place compared to the rest of the album, but its still a part of it at the end of the day. I think it’ll clearly end up being a WN/Wants and Needs situation with Falling Back and Jimmy Cooks respectively, and any other track(s) could end up being the streaming sleeper as well, kind of too early to tell.

Looks like The Kind of Love We Make will perform quite a bit better than Rock and a Hard Place. It's #6 on Apple Music (without Drake tracks), has similar iTunes lead with respect to RUTH, but should have massive radio deal.
(Also not related to Hot 100, but LC's first week vs Drake's second week vs Bad Bunny should be interesting for album chart)

His song with Jack is a 5-minute straight rap song with 2 very long verses from different rappers and with no hook. In what world does a song like that end up being a hit? Tell me.

He is responsible for the success of Wait for You, though Are you trying to suggest that 21 Savage is the reason why people are streaming that song? I really hope you're a lot smarter than that. Like I said earlier, it is a dance album by a rapper. Drake fans are scouring through the album looking for any kind of rap songs to latch on to and they're not finding it till the end of the album. That's the Drake they're used to so that's the song they're streaming the most. How is that a surprise? Like I also said, Sticky will also rise because it has Drake rapping (it's up to #3 now and will be #2 soon). Is that also because it features another rapper? Those 2 songs are the only songs Drake raps on and they'll likely be the biggest on the album just off that. And yes, absolutely, Drake is a huge reason why Wait for U is successful. It's delusional to suggest otherwise. Future knew exactly what he was doing getting Drake on that song as well as on Life Is Good. He's well aware of what Drake brings to the table but a random Pulse user is the one who seems to think the opposite. I wonder who I should take more seriously.

First Drake and then Bey dropping 90s house albums - Chromatica really IS the blueprint
Has Pandora already reported record breaking numbers?

!EXCLUSIVE! My first impressions of Honestly, Nevermind. I listened to a bit of each song (for the whiners - I listen to the first minute-ish, then skim thru the rest of the song, if that's not good enough for you, oh well) & yes, I went thru the track order backwards b/c I'm not like other girls
Massive - Very 90's techno beat Overdrive - The instrumental genuinely HURT my ears at first, that's a first. It ended up being pretty good tho... strange Down Hill - I kept waiting for the beat to pick up, but it never did, I guess it never went up hill (funni) still decent Jimmy Cooks - as everyone else pointed out, here's the typical rap song. It's pretty good tho, I love the OP bass! Calling My Name - Pretty good, at least one song's short (Intro is barely a song) Currents - Is that supposed to be a creaking bed?? What are these vocal FX?? I actually laughed at this one Falling Back - the MV is genius! The song itself is okay, I think it's a grower (like me) The rest of the songs aren't noteworthy
Other Criticisms -Drake's just not that good of a singer -Songs are too long, & take too long to get started -Most production sounds outdated. Bad autotune, & one song even uses the crowd chanting "hey!" effect that was last relevant in 2015
OVERALL: I'm happy & proud of Drake for doing something different. Pop music really needs a revival this year &... well this album isn't it, but it's a sign that some artists are trying to move away from trap rap & do something new. There's a few songs I like, & some of them are potential hits, my concern is - is Drake a big enough artist to completely change his sound & still have it succeed? For the sake of the music industry & inspiring other artists to shake up their sound, I hope so

If anything Massive kind of reminds me of the title track off After Hours. Obviously nowhere as good since that's probably my favourite song of the decade so far, but it still is a very decent tune. I've already registered to the album more than CLB or Scorpion, and honestly the worst moments aren't even that bad. Jimmy Cooks, Massive, Overdrive and Down Hill are the clear standouts

(Also not related to Hot 100, but LC's first week vs Drake's second week vs Bad Bunny should be interesting for album chart) LC's last album: #2 - “Forever After All” #30 - “Better Together” #41 - “Lovin’ On You” #69 - “The Other Guy” #78 - “Without You” (ft. Amanda Shires) #84 - “Cold As You” I expect LC to have at least a Top 5, and hopefully two more songs in the Top 25, to make sure that Bad Habits doesn't back into a 53rd week. I think enough Drake songs should hold anyway, but it would be nice to see LC have 2-3 Top 25 songs instead of potentially having an boring old song linger around.

This just comes to show how incredible for both Kanye and Drake that beef was last year. If not for that, the long wait and hype, there's no way CLB would have done what it did. Joji could still be in the running for #1 if Drake's hold on Apple Music isn't that big

Now, are you going to post the names of the 6x platinum songs that have never charted that you brought up months ago or nah? Nevertheless, why is the 21 Savage song performing so much better when it is straight rapping and no hook? Possibly, other more creative artists are propping up Drake and not the reverse?

Intro not debuting in top ten then it seems Highest Drake track #3 in the UK Which is hilarious given the fact that the Drake stans have been droning on and on about how his new "avante garde, experimental" project is supposed to be ruling Europe

When comparing both albums' first-day numbers on US Spotify, 11 songs from CLB outstreamed the most-streamed song from H,NM.
Obviously, CLB was longer and much closer to what you'd expect from Drake musically, so it's not a 1:1 comparison, but still worth pointing out.

Drake needs to take a break. He cannot take a break because he is already in a massive decline and sounds very tired and dated, but still has some chance to milk the most thets left, after the break, there would be nothing to take. Drake is mostly music business man and very succesful in that, musically he is rather forgettable.

You are literally twisting into a pretzel trying to put reason into the unreasonable

Just what i expected on Spotify. The numbers are still fine. Can’t always pull the same numbers twice even if you are Drake, and i hope some on here understands that. Let’s see how it does during the week and that’ll give us a clear picture about longevity, and to not write it off if it doesn’t meet expectations on like the 4th day or something.
