Didn't the Weeknd chart three in 2015 with "Earned It", "CFMF", and "The Hills"? You're right! He did. Can't believe I missed it. For the list, I only counted a top 10 hit in the year it reached the top 10 so any songs that reached the top 10 in a previous year but also charted in the top 10 in the next year as well didn't count for the next year. Ok. That makes sense why Taylor doesn't have 5 now. But that means Bieber actually wins for 2015. Waun, wdym, Sorry, and ly. Also, I love these flashbacks. They're so nostalgic. Keep em coming.

mms82 Quavo's four top 10 hits in 2017 were Portland, I'm the One, Congratulations & Strip That Down. As part of Migos, he also had Bad and Boujee & Motorsport. M5AGTS you're right. I missed Motorsport. It was the last song of 2017 to chart in the top 10, but even with that, Quavo's top 10 hits for the year remain 4. Bad and Boujee/Motorsport count towards his credit as part of Migos. I also didn't count Destiny's Child's top 10 hits for Beyoncè because Beyoncè's credits as a solo act aren't Destiny Child's credits as a group and vice-versa. As for Taylor Swift, no, the correct answer for 2015 wouldn't be her because she only scored 3 top 10 hits in the calendar year. Shake It Off/Blank Space both charted in the top 10 in 2015 but they first reached the top 10 in 2014, so they don't count towards her 2015 tally. After Minutes Love Me Harder doesn't count towards the Weeknd's 2015 tally because it first reached the top 10 in 2014, so that's the only year it counts for. kingvavis no. In 2016, Cold Water/Let Me Love You were the only top 10 hits by Justin Bieber which first reached the top 10 that year. Sorry, Love Yourself & What Do You Mean also charted in 2016 (which is why wikipedia counts his top 10 hits that year as 6), but those all reached the top 10 in 2015 so in my list, they only count for 2015. Now that I've responded to all of you, the reason why I only counted top 10 hits for the year they initially reached the top 10 is because it prevents confusion. Wikipedia/Billboard will count a Hot 100 entry for more than one year if it charts for more than one year but that's wrong and confusing. If Blinding Lights charts for three consecutive years, that doesn't mean it gets to count as an entry for the Weeknd for three consecutive years because if you did a headcount of his total entries, it'd cause an inconsistency in his count. Hope that explains everything.

Yes, you're right. Justin wins 2015 with 4 top 10 hits. Correct. Thanks for pointing that out.

Glad to have actual chart watchers here because it's easy to miss a simple detail. I'll make the corrections to 2015 for Justin Bieber and I'll add Motorsport as an extra top 10 hit for Quavo as part of Migos in 2017. I think that does it.

Nicki held well on Spotify too and it is rising hard in AM. This is a real hit, unfortunately.

Nicki has chance of getting that no.1. Who would’ve thought? If she can pull at least 19 mil streams, plus 50k sales then she should take the no.1 spot.

Welp, time to welcome Heat Waves back in the top 10 on radio tomorrow. That is why radio is dying because they can't let go of older songs and not adding new songs to their playlist. There really is no defending this one.

Hope that explains everything. it is messy but I understand why Billboard does it the way they do. Look at say Passenger - Let It Go. Was it a top ten hit in 2014 for Passenger, Ues, according to Billboard and I think most people would say a passenger had a top ten hit in 2014. 8 of its 12 weeks in the top ten were in 2014 (4 in Dec '13). It peaked in the top ten in late Feb, most people are going to definitely remember the song as 2014, although it started its run in 2013. plus songs are allowed to chart in multiple YE. A one hit wonder could be #1 on two YE charts with one hit. The totals wouldn't add up.

There really is no defending this one. Been dying for 42 years since Video Killed the Radio Star. radio is fine, it's after a different market and listener than a streamer. That's actually good business sense. Find your market and don't compete head to head.

Reports of Megan’s demise have been greatly exaggerated😂. I’m happy for her

That Nicki Minaj song is appearing to be a true hit. You can hate him as much as you want, but Dr Luke has a great ear and knows how to assemble a hit. Megan Thee Stallion needs to work with the guy ASAP. She really needs all hits for her next project if people even care enough to listen to the next one

Megan Thee Stallion is like Jack Harlow: all the internet hype and publicity in the universe, but the commercial performance of their projects are not reflective of that. Then, you have people who receive nowhere near the publicity or fan ware who open way better than both artists. I knew that the project was going to struggle when I saw Sweetest Pie's performance even with such a big rollout. Sweetest Pie is not a very catchy song, but it would have performed exponentially better on streaming with Summer Walker or SZA on it in place of Dua Lipa. (Similar to have Doja Cat's team put SZA on Kiss Me More to ensure that such a bubbly pop song would have a great streaming reception) A top five on pop airplay means nothing for an album's performance, but you can always project how well an album will perform based upon the streaming of the singles. It was downhill ever since then, and that is why she has been struggling to regain footing. Her album is performing on par with the mixtape she just put out, and that is terrible. She needs a team like Doja Cat's who is going to carefully curate her sound because the music is what is not buzzing

It's more that many people feel his inappropriate actions should cancel out the benefit of working with him.

Been dying for 42 years since Video Killed the Radio Star. radio is fine, it's after a different market and listener than a streamer. That's actually good business sense. Find your market and don't compete head to head. Plus that post you replied to implies streaming doesn't show us people will listen to the same songs for months/years on end. Right? "Wow, radio is terrible for still playing Heat Waves so much." Checks streaming charts: Heat Waves #26. Would be #18 without the Beyoncé album bomb. Yes, it's clearly only radio that holds onto songs for too long.

Wow at Nicki’s 2nd day hold! She’s slaying right now. And yet somehow if she doesn’t debut at #1 everyone here will ridicule and shame her like what happened with “Do We Have a Problem.” No other rap girl is given these expectations, I wonder why it only applies to Nicki.

Do you read these threads? Everyone gets dragged for "flop" openings, whether fairly or not.

Do you read these threads? Everyone gets dragged for "flop" openings, whether fairly or not. This, but it's also a catch-22 because if she's the biggest female rapper as her stans claim, then of course expectations will be higher for her. We don't expect Tori Kelly to open with the same numbers as Ariana Grande.
