yeah Tiny Dancer - the original is probably my favorite Elton John song-- As a song Hold Me Closer was a little disappointing

Well. Unfortunately, I think this is actually gonna stick around. I really did not expect this. I thought it would debut high and fizzle out quick. Why is it unfortunate? How dare a woman in her 40’s and a man in his 70’s have a successful song that sticks around for awhile. It is nice to see them do well, but it's also random that radio seems to be jumping on it. It's not like streams have been overly great.

It feels ridiculous that As It Was may end up with 15+ weeks at #1. It literally was released on April 1st, more than 5 months ago now!

lack of competition has worked in his favor.
he's topped 2 streaming weeks and 1 sales week so far.

lack of competition has worked in his favor. he's topped 2 streaming weeks and 1 sales week so far. Points are so low. I really wish Bruno Mars would release a solo single. This would be the perfect time to snag another #1 hit. He has never had a #1 debut. I would love to see that.

A song that has gotten interrupted during it's #1 run on 4 or 5 different occasions did not suffer from lack of competition.
It's the biggest hit of the year. Even went back to #1 on TTH. I don't think it's really surprising that it's still #1 when it's still doing well on all metrics.

based on CE's computation, this week the number of songs with 200 points is 1. if that's a lot of competition, then...
Last five>10s: him 11+ weeks from 2 weeks topping streaming (+9) The Box 11 weeks from 13 weeks topping streaming (-2) Old Town Road 19 weeks from 20 weeks topping streaming (-1) God's Plan 11 weeks from 11 weeks topping streaming (=) Despacito 16 weeks from 16 weeks topping streaming (=)

Had As It Was actually been as strong or as dominant as some of y'all think it is, it probably would've been at 20 weeks at #1

That week was a real mess. I'll never forget how nasty the BTS stans, as well as Megan's fans, were that week on the Spectrum Pulse. And also how that week's thread was derailed. Oh, and this pretty much proves how week the competition is today. AIW would be #7 on last year's Top 10, and the #2 song would be outside the Top 10: It feels so wrong that AIW is #1 this week, and Stay (with over 1.5x points of AIW) wasn't on this week last year.

09 09 Shape Of You - Ed Sheeran From a chart run standpoint, this song was ahead of its time.

For 'As It Was' yes we all know how the song has performed this year in THIS market. It has accumulated a certain number of points and has had a near record run in the top two.
when you compare the song to point totals from years past, there is no way of actually knowing if As It Was would perform the same, better or worse if it were released in a different time or different market.
In this market, all we can say for sure is 11 weeks at #1 (going on 12) and 20 weeks in the top 2 (going on 21)

It feels so wrong that AIW is #1 this week, and Stay (with over 1.5x points of AIW) wasn't on this week last year. so, based on this, we shouldn't have a #1 song this week, just #2, #3, #4...

“Hold Me Closer”!! Wow. I wish for Top 10. I’ve been on music forums since like 2005 and it’s just amazing the amount of times I’ve been able to witness Britney just effortlessly resurrect. I mean, even if it sneaks out a top 10 debut somehow, the song is basically already dead. I wouldn't call this a resurrection. Well, we can obviously see now it is outperforming what you’ve suggested here lol. But let’s play that card - even if were to free fall and disappear, Britney Spears managing to power into the current landscape of Billboard’s Top 10 in 2022 would still be a resurrection. Especially with Elton John attached and following the exact scheme of Cold Heart. She hasn’t released in years and the last Top 10 was more than a decade ago. If she decides to pursue another record and has a legitimate team around her, she’d clearly still be in the playing field. As someone pointed out, what a glorious thing it would be to see Bey and Brit in the top ten together after all this time. When Bey was written off for being able to capture mainstream attention again and Brit for obvious things.

This thread is like a weekly sitcom and should have a laugh track. It's just the same repetitious one-liners, week after week. Predictable af.
"Then don't watch!" I know, I know. But let's not pretend like it's not just a recycled mess with the same actors saying the same slightly modified lines for attention week after week. There are a few characters who need to be written out of this show. Maybe I'll just see myself out.

In general things are just different in 2020-2022. "AIW" was #6 in streaming this past week, so it's not like it's weak there anyway.

Hopefully they have new better writers.

I'm dying at this commentary omg I used to frequent the chart threads much more often a few years ago, they became less interesting especially over the last few months. we might have peaked when a few hardcore BTS stans flooded Pulse just to argue people in the Hot 100 threads. I think that was around when they released "Dynamite"? #MakeHot100ThreadsGreatAgain

It's about time then that they end this sitcom and continue with a spin-off where I'm the lead
